Destiny, although at this point is WAY overrated, could potentially be a top player once he matures more and keeps playing high level players which CoL has. Im not sure if you have been watching him lately but he has improved leap and bounds over the last MLG and he just seems to be getting better and better. I would rate him as by far the most improved player in the last month or two.

Not only has CoL and ROOT gotten more talent, they are able to grown in size, pool their funds and learn off each other. Their roster has only gotten stronger. Look at the Hite Entus merger, CJ Entus after the acquisition is rampaging through pro-league now. Sure Kiwi and Slush has left, but im assuming that these players would be wanting to move some time in general. If they were that dedicated to their ROOT origins, then they'd most likely have stayed as the only thing that I can see as being of detriment is the removal of the ROOT name.

This isn't a merger, it's an acquisition. It doesn't take any sort of genius to realize there's no pooling of funds, the players on ROOT are being transferred over to Complexity's player sheet entirely.

Ah, well i still think the acquisition isnt as bad as everyone is saying it is. Maybe it's the subconscious thought processes of 'evil big corporation buying out the little guys' that we associate with 'aquisitions' these days. But if CoL acquired ROOT, on a very simple level it still means CoL gets ROOT's stuff (subject to whatever terms and conditions they agreed to). If CoL's the bigger organisation, then their acquisition of ROOT means they have the benefit of the players and learning capabilities from the ROOT guys, and ROOT gets the benefit of joining a much better funded organisation to help them grow as well. ROOT was a small team created by Catz and Drewbie, they didnt have the funds, they didnt have the facilities. Being acquired now means that the ROOT team can focus on being players without being bogged down with as many administration issues. I still cant see where the loss is. CoL isnt some evil corporation to wants to buy over ROOT and strip them off its assets and make everyone go unemployed. ROOT being acquired only helps them become not only the best, but the greatest pro-gaming team in America. Back to the Hite Entus example, CJ in essence acquired Hite through CJ's acquisition of controlling share of OnMedia (which owned Hite Sparky, but kept Hite name through sponsorship deals). The only detriment would be a number of the B-team players who found themselves out of a job and having to find another team... but for the CoL/ROOT there is no team league format to worry like that, a with a team like ROOT, i think the only peope who have to fear about being side-lined would be some of the CoL players!

I can't help but feel that Complexity got a bad public image after the TSL3, centering around the Cruncher vs IdrA match. Cruncher is a part of Complexity, and they are responsible for safeguarding all their players. Hopefully with the infusion of ROOT members, they will be able to reset their public image the SC2 community.
