What intersted me most was the part about the pay.

To fly from Sweden to S.Korea costs about 700 Euro's. And considering GOM is doing trials it's highly likely you will fly back again for a similar cost. Not counting that you need get yourself lodging and food.

So the questions are:

How long will you be hired?`
How much will you get payed?

If both are short term and minuscule anyone from EU or NA stands out to financially lose out on this "job". I don't see why anyone would go for such an expense unless they can easily afford it (which means you already have a good paying job, or a generous financeer). Additionally I don't know when you actually get paid so you could be paying for your lodging and food for a few weeks, adding to the cost. Let's say you are going to spend €1500-2000 on this endeavor. I don't know how salary is like in S. Korea, but I doubt it's anything like you get in EU. So the issue is, can you actually even monetarily afford this job? Can you actually make a profit? Which in my experience I've never really had to ask about a job. Sounds like a holiday where you stand the chance of having it get paid for you.

Personally I think it would be totally awesome to do this (when I read it I even had a day dream about it), seeing and living in Korea and casting games is a nerd's fantasy.

EDIT: Just checked Korean minimum wages (which what you will most likely get), you will get about 700,000 WON for a months work, maybe less, maybe more but not substantial less or more in any direction (even earning double the minimum wage barely covers the one way ticket cost). Sounds like a pretty terrible deal if you want to secure a financial future.

Casters wouldn't be casting for minimum. You get minimum working fast food places, not for commentating professional e-sports games to the entire globe.

NDAs don't work that way. They cover specifics, not subjective opinion.

Back when they first started advertising it was made known by someone (dont remember who) that the pay was around 3.2 million won. That's just under 3k USD - i believe it was for the length of the contract, which for most people has been one season +- which is around a month or so.

That would cover the cost of air fair for two from the US and nothing else.

That's a big problem for GOM, the casting-job for CodeA is just so unattractive for any smart guy. Tastosis will have a lot of casting in the future, because I don't think they will find a replace for Wolf, after FXO is gone.

The last part is frankly absurd. To say an organization doesn't weigh popularity when choosing casters doesn't explain why Day[9] is at every major LAN or why MLG flew Tastosis across the world. Obviously the general popularity of a caster is a major factor in an event choosing who to hire.

That's not what I meant Chill, lemme rephrase. "Community opinion" for the most part, doesn't exist. The SC2 community for instance, is a completely nebulous beast. TL is a SC2 community, WP is a SC2 community, Reddit is an SC2 community, B.net is an SC2 community, then arguably there are communities surrounding individual YT casters, many of whom have their own websites which could be considered sub-communities of their overall viewerbase. Individual forums have their own SC2 megathreads that are in themselves, communities. So what it comes down to, is even if a large number of people in one of these groups express an opinion, it's still not only going to be a vocal minority of that individual community, but a VERY vocal minority of the entire community in general. There's no point in shouting that you don't want a particular caster as if it'll factor into the decision, the popularity of particular casters can be found out by other, more reliable means.

On another note, if they don't give Khaldor a shot it'd be an injustice. Talented play-by-play with Wolf's analysis would work well.

Okay that's 100% fair. I agree that the "people spamming on a message board" metric isn't exactly a strong one

Chill should apply.

As much as Husky is good for catering to the casual audience, he should stay a miles away from casting competitive matches. There are better casters out there.

I wonder if Unstable will be offered the job, depending on how long he intends to stay in Korea.
