Seriously SC2, I take a nap and all hell breaks loose, bad news followed by pretty good news. I would have preferred Bomber so we could know how good he really is in a MLG type tournament. We already know MC has the skills to win these.

How am I an internet tough guy? am i threatening to beat you up or something? rofl, just because I only stated one thing doesnt mean that i dont have more reasoning behind my statement. You cant deny that MC is in a bit of a slump with his recent results regardless of if hes won previous foreign lans, this isnt the same foreign lan, not to mention there are other koreans coming as well as better competition now (the scene has been growing fast in the foreign scene imo)

MC losing a PvP to Alicia and losing to Polt because of greedy build order losses has nothing to do with slumping, those are a couple bo3's. What has Losira done in comparison? MMA? Lol Moon? The only Korean currently "not slumping" is Nestea who had an easy run in the last GSL and just beat a lackluster Bomber in Ro32 after almost losing to Cezanne in the Ro64. So how does your original statement of "I would be more worried about most of the other koreans" work? MMA is still in Code A after losing to a protoss 2-0 worse than MC, Losira didn't get far into the Super Tournament either, and Bomber just got beaten 2-0 by Nestea.

as stated before its all personal opinion, i never said hes bad, but hes certainly not the best out there. If you really are bored, you can look i up, i have stated this in the past for example in LR when he lost to polt, that wasnt just a bad BO loss that was him being inflexible, which imo is his fatal flaw, he has a couple strats in mind and isnt really about mixing it up but working with that strat that he has down.. but yeah thats why i find other players to be better than him, not that hes bad, and he can certainly get better but he seems to be at his pinnacle and the "fresh blood" so to speak is on its way in and will continue to come in over the next couple months.

Really though there is no clear cut player that is the best, and again dont take my critique of MC to say that he is a bad player... i haven't said that and wont be stating that, i just feel that there are many more players with more potential and also (obviously going into OPINION REALM HERE) are already better players as a whole, this does include MMA btw, hes got alot of potential imo with such good teamates / coaches to work with, hell the whole team is oozing potential,from what i've seen they are the first completely serious team.

Yes he's not the best out there. Nestea is currently performing better than him. MVP is performing equally but still losing a lot as well, and he lost to Ganzi who isn't even known for his TvT. I am not arguing with you saying he is the best out there, I am arguing with you saying that the other players who have done less than him are scarier than him. It was a bad build order loss, and stupid play by him aggressively expanding, that has nothing to do with inflexibility. I've seen him down nexus first, 1 gate expand, 2 gate expand, 3 gate expand, voidray expand, phoenix expand, 3 gate dt expand, 1 gate dt expand, 2 gate robo, 3 gate robo. That's not inflexible play. He popularized tons of new builds that protoss use, in fact.

It's completely in your right to have an opinion on who is better, but it's kind of silly to me. MMA lost to Huk 2-0 in the up and downs and Huk himself will tell you MC is the superior protoss. You even said MC got his 'ass kicked' as if he got largely outplayed, when his recent losses have been build order losses in the early game (his delayed four gate against alicia's 3 gate robo, taking a second gas against Alicia's aggressive 4gate which made his warpins significantly behind, being unable to deal with Polt's early pressure). That's not an ass kicking, that's build order losses.

I would say personally that selecting the correct build order is in fact a very important skill and if you select the wrong BO, yes you got your ass kicked because you are making bad tactical decisions, perhaps there needs to be more effort in getting it right.. again i said hes good, hes great mechanically and his macro and micro are great.. but again hes obviously got a fatal flaw if he continually loses by doing the wrong BOs. This is why i feel nestea is a better player, he has been, from what ive seen anyways in recent history, to be a very flexible player, as has MVP and many other players, i feel being able to throw out new bo's every game vs someone is important to keep the enemy guessing as they dont know exactly what you are doing.

a loss is a loss and i suspect MC will be getting more losses the same way he has been losing recently.. by picking wrong BOs for the situation. hey, i could be proved wrong at MLG this weekend but i really feel he wont be taking #1 @ MLG this time around. He lost 4 games. That is not continually losing. How about him being the only non-Chinese player in the Stars War Round of 4 after 2-0'ing everybody, winning Dreamhack Invitational, winning Copenhagen (I think he maybe lost 1 game to Morrow before beating Kas 4-0 in the finals)? He's been doing subpar in the NASL but he hasn't lost his last 4 series, one loss was a walkover, and the lag from KR to NA is well known. He went 3-0 against Ace, Bomber, and July in the GSTL. Selecting the wrong build order is not a tactical failure, it is fully luck-based. If he went 2 gate robo, the only truly safe build against terran, he would have been quite behind if Polt played 14CC or 1 rax expand which is again a build order loss.

There is a complete difference between how MC would have to play the early game and Nestea would. Nestea's decision comes down to, do I go pool first or hatch first. From that comes scouting to determine what he should do next and the proper times to drone. In the very, very beginning zerg is NOT flexible because you are stuck on the path of pool or hatch first followed by droning. While that is a very delicate balance it is different than a protoss who has to make his build-order decision before any scouting is possible.

I just told you all of the build orders I have seen MC do, I believe I listed 10-15. Why are you still on the whole inflexible thing? And MVP? MVP has been doing worse than MC overall, unless you count him beating a Code A protoss in the round of 64 then losing in the round of 32 better than MC losing to Alicia. He hasn't even been participating in foreign tournaments, IdrA got a walkover from him in the Stars War.

Like I said, we'll see.

Look at group C. Liquid and Idra.... MC had played them so he doesnt need any special training (he could thought some strategies during his flight)

i think july is one of the few people who will enjoy playing through the open bracket because he stated he wants to play as much against the foreigners as possible. now his wish comes true.

only question is if he still will have enough stamina left for the final rounds.

Kind of my point... I'm not trying to make excuses for MC or make his victory more glorious... merely saying that if/when Idra loses to him that will be the fallback excuse "Oh he didn't have time to prepare thats why Idra lost." I'm just preparing for the QQ with that post is all....
