Cold hands are one of the first signs of RSI. Instead of artificial heating, I suggest taking a break.

Here are some tips to improve circulation:

Form a fist and individually move your fingers up and down.
Form a fist and position your thumb on the knuckle of your index finger and slide it over your knuckles in a swiping motion.

These motions also relieve sweaty hands.

It has nothing to do with RSI or hand speed affecting local metabolic rate.

As explained earlier in this thread, it is an acute stress reaction to playing starcraft which diverts blood flow away from the peripheral organs (hands and toes) and towards central organs to allow you to run or fight. However, this isn't good for a precision based game like sc2.

You should instead be aiming to heat your hands up (as you are doing) and/or attempting to reduce the pressure/stress you put on yourself with each game that you play.

Circulation tips above will work for a short term, but they will then be overridden by the stress response after a while.

jkjk, I'll believe you. I'll edit the first line to avoid the spreading of wrong information.

Lol I wasn't getting at you, it's just annoying on internet where someone will come along with a link that is like to wikipedia and wrong and be just be spreading nonsense

I get you, I'm not afraid to be wrong on the internet but also not afraid to admit when I am.

The major cause for cold hands is a an iron deficiency, which may be an indirect result of the poor diet that alot of gamers have (we're lazy in everything but gaming). A well-balanced diet can fix your cold hands, but if its physiological you may need medication assistance or iron pills.

Another cause may be being too nervous, and that is easily taken care with better scouting, more gaming and just having a good opening in the beginning. If you know what to look for and what to do, you won't get that nervous.

For me, it's not so much the hand getting cold as not enough blood flow. I used to have a tall desk and short chair, so my hands were higher than my elbows (which is also ergonomically bad). My hands would get numb after a few games, even faster if the room is cold. After I got a shorter desk and height-adjustable chair, my hands didn't get numb anymore.

I always wear a hoodie. =]

Keeps my hands warm enough with the 150~ apm and super spamming early game heh

Once I slow down apm then my hands may start to feel like the are locking up. =[ sucks midgame when you can't do much about it

my hands get cold when its cold, generally thats about it.

if your hands are getting cold your more than likely not keeping yourself warm enough. being underweight can also lead to the outer limbs being more cold. try putting on socks too(retaining any and all heat will help).

get a dog and rub his belly or something. eat a hot pocket warm them hands up!

Yes, even when it's hot as hell in my room, my hands are getting cold. I don't know what causes this, but what I generally do is rub them together between my legs, gets them hot fast.

sometimes after a really long game my hands will get cold but for the most part some hand and wrist exercises clear that right up. The ones day 9 showed in his mechanics vods have been really helpful I urge everyone to do them

When I was playing in a few of my CSL matches I had a 50 minute long TvP on Lost Temple and afterwards, even though the computer room we meet up in is quite warm my ahnds were absolutely freezing and I was shivering after the match lol.

The adrenaline got pumping, badly.

My hands are only cold for the 1st and 2nd games of the day, it just warms itself while playing. I always wash my hands a lot because I swear so I tkae care of washing with hot water because cold water makes it like if it was the 1st game.
