djWheat has no idea how TLPD works.
TLPD DOES have complete stats, every tournament game ever played by a known pro player is in there. You can get any match up win %, overall win %, win% within a specified time period, head to head win % against a specific player, win % on a map, that map's race match up win %, etc.
Everything djWheat is talking about is in TLPD. He should just use it during his cast if he thinks it'll add so much, instead of talking about how it would be great if it existed, when it already exists.

That's good! Message him and tell him how he can look this up.

Hello djWHEAT and iNcontrol,
I think that your examples of butchering starcraft on tv is flawed because you aren't taking into consideration the preparation of a match up. I think that asking for a live game is not possible and because of that we need to look at the possibilities of a replay centered show. Since a replay does not have the odd timings of a "PP" in the middle of the show you can actually set up and rehearse an entire show before you film it and parse out the timings. An example of that would be something like...
example- After watching a game between MVP and MC you see that MVP does a stim timing at 7:30 and an exciting battle happens there. Because you have know that it would be best to watch through that scene without interruption and you can do things to stretch the times before (or shrink preferably) that commercial break. In the end you would have an 90 match reduced to 42 minutes but you would still have all of the exciting moments being dictated by the commercial breaks.
Show starts off with an introduction of the players, hosts and show A brief overview of the first 3-4 minutes is talked about. The interesting part of the infrastructure/build planning is shown The interesting quirks about that game is shown. A brief overview and then a cut to commercial. Return you have a brief overview of what happened up until the next major engagement The time through the engagements etc A brief summary of game and cut to commercial. Game 2 and 3 don't need the intro but they would essentially take the same process.
While I don't really advocate for television (nor am I against it), I don't think that the "butchering of the game" as you are describing it should be a keynote. There are tournaments that aren't live and they are fine, there are ways to cut to a commercial without missing the action and there is a way to make the slow parts of the game crunched so you can fit a full match in 1 hour.

We tweeted what it was going to be about and at the beginning we clearly stated what we were going to discuss. You seem pretty terrible at listening to shows if you missed that.. additionally, sorry we got you so upset. You should ask for your money back.

To be honest, it's completely your fault. Previous page, someone POSTED the tweet about what is most likely going to happen, as well as both, Incontrol and DjWheat tweeted what is going to happen for sure.
Yes, maybe it was a bit boring and it was only about "growth of esports", but you shouldn't be complaining if you didn't bother to check what is coming, especially if you know you are not going to like it or it doesn't interest you one bit.
e. meh, Geoff was faster. T_T

Yeah, I suppose casters could have enough downtime between matches to look up some statistics or have someone else of the production crew do that.
For example I don't recall any mention about Naniwa vs DRG match history in Providence. They had some pre-game trolling about Naniwa not getting good enough. On retrospect, they played eachother in Anaheim and DRG won 2-0. In Providence they played the exact same maps and Naniwa won 2-0. They could have used stuff like that hype up the match even more, if someone had 2 minutes to spend on TLPD (including DRG's 100% winrate on Dual sight before Providence). I have no idea how busy the casters are, so maybe they could have one statistics guy per stream to look up stuff when they what matchup they are going to broadcast.

Great show & episode, thank you !
|
This is one of the best episodes yet. I know people are complaining, but I don't think they're looking at this right. It's great to hear people who dedicate themselves to this industry talking about growing it. They really know what they're talking about, and definitely know how to express it (Geoff's debate background shows). These are the kinds of things average viewers rarely think about, but that really matter.
If you want epsorts to grow, these are the kinds of conversations we have to have. It's really unique that they're asking us to be a part of it, instead of just having MLG or another organization discussing this behind closed doors.

Loved the episode guys and I really enjoyed the blog InControl... DREAM BIG... I wonder if any of you cynics were 12 and the teacher says what do you want to be when you grow up and you said I want to be a janitor.... Why do people always want to shit on dreaming big xD
|
It's not even just dreaming big. I mean, obviously that's a part of it, but the point is that they're helping to figure out the necessary steps in order to make those dreams come true.

wish we had the mp3's ♥ : )

Does anyone know if there'll be an episode airing tomorrow?
