Great collections of links and an amazing narration you really provide a great look back at the TSL, nice way to make your 20,000th post. Re-watched both TSL1 and TSL2 after TSL3 was announced just to pass the time, they were as epic as when i watched them live.
It's almsot too bad that this couldn't have been posted a week sooner, and thrown all over EVERY casual or competitive gaming site, every community forum that exists.
The hype exists for a reason. We need the world to see it.
Chill so good. :D TSL1 and TSL2 were amazing. There already has been some amazing moments in TSL3 and I really look forward to the rest of the tournament.
Is is amazing!!! As I'm relatively new to the Starcraft community, this gave me a good insight view on the past TSL's. It absolutely shows your passion for Starcraft and the TSL! Keep it up!
Ah. You do know how to hype Chill^^ (might wanna give jp lessons lol) Thanks, I'm so fucking ready for more tsl now. So many of my favorite players left still. Tyler, NaDa, Sen, Mondragon FIGHTING^^
That video is a narrative of epic proportions. It played out more like a documentary than some forum post. Excellent writing; really brings out the emotion. The end has the most epic preview I can recall.
Chill, you massive baller. I got nerd chills (stupid puns).
The only thing detracting from the overwhelming awesomeness of that video was that, after using all old BW/TSL stuff you brought up pics of Tyler from SC2, including his wife and HuK cheering for him at MLG Dallas (not this one but last season).
I loved the probe TSL intro that was basically a homage to Pixar, by the way.
Chill man, you're giving me chills! That was amazing!
One teeny tiny thing a nub like me (community wise) would have liked is a few video clips of the BW play I hear everyone loving so much. Seriously though, that was epic!
Good ole days of TSL2. I remember having just played BW for a few months then TSL was announced and was epic to watch especially with chill/day9 artosis/tastless. Good times .
That was very well done. Well paced, good backing music and you have a good narrating voice. The glimpse into the past and hype for the future was great to see. It would be brilliant if you and/or others looked to making a full feature type thing of the history and stories of SC:BW. Let us newbies learn more about the past and the veterans reminisce .
awesome video! congrats on 20,000 liqui-points. your casting is amazing and doesn't get near enough credit. Have fun on your double-shift this weekend!
This is perfect. Especially because I wasn't around for the first two TSLs. TSL3 has been my favorite tournament so far as a viewer and this video showed how epic the others were.

It was my intention to do this on Monday, but I really needed Kennigit's help and didn't get around to it until yesterday. Kennigit did all the video production.
Someone asked how long it took. The original idea was from TSL2 based on this video:
The fist draft of the script was completed September 21, 2010. So I guess technically it took 6 and a half months. But in terms of rewriting it and recording, it took about 12 hours total (only 4 of them were me, the rest were Kennigit).
God has it been that long already... seems only yesterday the Razer TSL was announced. I still remember all the hype around that "ambition" thing. Props chill, amazing work on this video
Thanks for the wonderful memories u shared, I do really appreciate teamliquid, as I found out about this on the 31st of march 2010 just a year ago. Thanks chill u know u are the man.
God damn I'm so fucking hype. That was amazing Chill. I'm really sad I missed the first two TSLs, but I'm making up for lost time. Cheers to Team Liquid and all the hard work!
Wheeee what a beautiful 20k post :D Thank you Chill, this is definitely helping to keep the hype going strong. ^^ So long for moderatetemperature, until you hit 29999 of course.
Chill this is just amazing! I have not seen TSL1 or 2 and still I'm hyped by that video :D (It would have been even a bit better if the TSL intro music would have played at the end)
Tears in my eyes. That's what powerful music and Starcraft does to a fan. Chills voice is perfect for this type of things aswell. Very well done. So looking forward to tomorrow!
Whoaaa! Can`t really remember how I first entered Teamliquid.net but it definately looks to me only as a Starcraft 2 community site and it started to be really close-to-heart place when TSL 3 launched. Thank you!
Really great post. As someone who is new to the TSL i find watching the older TSL vods to be really entertaining so that i knew what i was getting into and i have to say you guys do a really good job. And this just makes it so much better so thank you =D
Talk about an awesome hype video. I agreed to babysit tomorrow so I could leech the internet from that house, hoping the streaming would be better for me. I can't miss this!
At first no music. I must admit your voice alone would not have given your name justice. Then music on top of the explanation of my favorite tournaments was so epic. Solid video +1 for TL.net. Also the intro with tyler before this TSL was just hardcore.
The only thing I don't get is why does everyone remember Idra VS Nony wrong? It was the RO8 where Nony "forced" the great CC cancel. And not the Seed Qualifier to get directly into the Ro16

Things like this are what makes the starcraft community one of the greatest in the world. For something just because its a landmark post players make them into something as awesome and enjoyable as this. Thanks chill, great video.
I was interested in Starcraft in the previous century, when DIDI8 dominated, but it was not streaming capability that we were lacking, the internet as a whole wasn't what it is now. Almost a decade later what got me back to watching Starcraft being played was TSL 2, so I'm proud to say that I've felt the hype of having this tournament, although not being part of the community all the years that people would kill for a tourney like that. It's an awesome idea to show to the people who got into the community with the release of Starcraft II what TSL really meant before. I myself really enjoyed the video, that's the best 20000 post celebration we could have
nice memories. I was so excited when the first TSL was announced and I didnt miss a game! Now I cannot wait for Ro16 TSL3. You guys are making such a great event with great players, great coverage and great streams ans casters.
Man I remember sitting in this very chair I'm in now with my head in my hands, watching Tyler vs. Mondragon, nervous as hell Tyler was going to lose. SC2 might be taking over esports, but I'll never forget the epic matches from TSL and TSL2.
Tyler, make it to the finals again. Give me more epic memories from my favorite player in the best League around!
Great video Chill! So many great games that will eventually be forgotten. I guess all we can do is be thankful and support TeamLiquid for continuing the TSL tradition!
OMW as awesome as this video is I can just but rage at the fact that I never get to watch and live in the hype of the first 2 TSL's. Well done man on the video.
Also this TSL (3) looking really awesome with upsets and game quality. :D
Absolutely amazing. Beautifully and professionally done. I'm one of those who's experiencing their first TSL and it's great to learn some of the history of the tournament.
Im soo stupid that I just never did look at the game StarCraft broodwar 6 years ago when it was just a few bucks away from buying. Tnx chill, u the man gz on your 20 000 post :D
This (TSL3) has been my first TSL, but I got chills when you were recapping the finals of TSL1. Damn. Amazing video. You really brought StarCraft to life with this one.
I was watching Spanishiwa's stream last night, and while he was playing a ladder game against Jianfei, someone in chat asked him if he had played any Starcraft celebrities. I mentioned that he was playing one right then, and he was like "Iefnaij? What? No." There was maybe one person in his chat that knew who JF was.
Incredible video chill :} Even though I didn't really get into SC until SC2, this makes me want to go back and watch the games from the previous TSLs. Thanks a ton for making this video.
nerd chills all over my body. Chill, idk if you will ever read this, but I'm a new to TL as of sc2, you just gained a fan for life. Thank you for all your contribution to this scene! Cast your heart out. Chill fighting!
First TSL for me as well, but watching this video makes me punch myself for missing the first 2 !! loving everything TSL related sofar it's amazing, the cast, the players, the drama.
I'll always regret missing TSL1. Sure, I regret missing the glory days of Boxer, Yellow, Reach and the other legends I only know of second hand or through their unexpected exploits of in the end days of their careers, but TSL1 is not the same. I was actually following competitive Brood War at the time, but not Teamliquid, and so I missed this. Damn.
Great video Chill! Very worthy for your 20,000 post. It is very apparent that you put a lot of hard work into it. Like many, this is my first TSL and its great to get some background on the tournament! Never knew it was so groundbreaking. So excited to watch the games tmrw!
Amazing video, I really, really enjoyed it. As one of the many that has just gotten into the community with SC2, I wish I could go back and make up for all I've lost. How did this amazing game and community elude for so long? ;'x
I wasn't around for the final of TSL2 which is one of the things I regret the most in my time at TL. But watched that series when Idra cancels his CC vs Nony is priceless. I will surely follow the whole TSL3 to the final.
But is this just me or TSL:SC2 is not that enjoyable as TSL:BW. Still best tourney out there in the western world and compareable with GSL.
And although it's a balancing act, I wouldn't have minded you showing more storylines. Such as Morrow + Kolll making a splash onto the scene with the TSL2 ladder, and Ret's BW career peaking, yet still meets his demise because the beast that is Sen.
Needless to say, this is subjective and nitpicky, grats on the 20k.
Oh my god TSL2 was soo good. I'm so glad that TSL 3 is living up to everything from the past. I remember the TSL 2 video popping up and I watched it like a million times, I was so excited haha. Congrats on 20k too!
You guys tickle me awesome. From the TSL 1, to now, you guys soak us in a bliss of epic hype and let us explode the showers of pent up fandom to Liquider's worldwide.
Keep up the work and can't wait for the matches ^^
takes me back! great post chill, sad to see so many people missed out on the great, great TSLs before. like the video shows, i remember getting absolutely pumped out of my brain when DOWN DOWN DOWN came on, such a pro intro too. can't wait for the rest of tsl3!
Im proud to say... i've watched every single TSL game.. match.. you name. i seen the funny cheerfuls (not bragging) i feel so OJ, im so proud of TL and how far they came... another 3 TSL! :D
Very nice! You really should've done the announcements for the players / rounds previously and not SotG (JP). I love SotG but they really fail at annoucements, they just skimmed through these awesome artworks and said here is this guy and that guy and that's it! What you did there in that video was a sick introduction of upcoming matches.
I know how anxious you can get waiting to finish something great for a milestone so that you can post again. This was well worth your wait. <3 chill. <3 TSL.
Chill, why are you so good to us? Whenever you are involved light shines upon us. Your positive force is so big, that every metal in the world would be drawn in by it, if you were a magnet. Your casting is like a great song, that tells us of epic tales.
You Chill, are awesome! Thanks for all the hard work and effort.
It's beautiful, Chill I actually shed a tear. I can still remember the "hype video" for TSL2 with the star where lots of people were puzzled what it meant. Thank you so much!
So much nostalgia. I still remember TSL1 final, when i was cheering for Draco, laughing hysterically when he took first two games and then swearing and cursing at the monitor as he lost the fifth. Such an epic match it was.
I kind of missed TSL2 though, as i had my break from Starcraft (and gaming at all) then. Glad i got back just in time for TSL3
So glad i watched that. Awesome. And a history lesson too.
With 70% of the community clearly as nooby as me i think there's a lot of benefit to giving us little history lessons where possible. Sure we can find it ourselves, but this was a video full of context which made the little bits of history make sense and kept them relevant.
Thank you so much Chill. You always have great posts, but this one hits me in all the right places. I remember just how excited I was, sitting in my chair, watching Mondi vs JF or Nony vs IdrA, cheering at my computer monitor as the rest of my family thinks they have a raving lunatic in the house. I can't wait for the next few matches, but you're right that it's over before you know it.
I was lagging the first time I tried watching this, glad I came back. Really depics how epic TSL 1 and 2 were and hypes the Ro16. Can't wait for MC/White-Ra Sen/Boxer.
Thank you Chill, that was awesome. Well done video and wrap up of events. I've watched TSL1 and 2 as VODS and was shocked when I heard TSL3 was already on the go (returned after 25 weeks of absense). Thanks man! :-D

That hurts my head. I see it happening constantly, but like the 70% who never knew what the TSL was prior to TSL3, I cannot say I'm surprised. These guys don't come from a Brood War background, so you cannot really blame them for checking every player they come across. As for commentators on the other hand, a quick search would suffice. The TLPD can be your best friend, but even then sometimes that isn't enough. Lots of those records date back to only a few years ago, so there is still a lot missing.
Thank you, Chill! I'm one of the noob 70% that flooded TL with the release of SC2, and I think that this sort of post is a wonderful service to those of us that deeply want to connect to the history and tradition of this wonderful community but just don't have the years of involvement that the older members do. This was a great chance for me to learn a bit more about the history of TL and the SC community, and I really appreciate the work and patience of you and other older community members as you integrate this enormous population of new members. I know we're mostly obnoxious at the moment, but the effort you're putting in is already paying off in converting normal players like me into rabid and committed members of the community who see the love that goes into your contributions and are eagerly searching for ways to make our own mark.
Now I'm going to use some of the time left after tonight's broadcast and go check out some games from the previous TSLs!
the video is well put together and has some really great narration, also just want to say as a former wc3 player i dont know this so hearing this in an awesome video like this is great
Awesome video. I got into Starcraft when SC2 came out so it's really cool to look back at the history of Brood War and see how the TL community progressed.

Completely agree. Amazing post Chill. Keep up the great work, you're awesome!
Chill, you are fucking amazing. Not gonna lie, your one of my favorite SC2 casters, and the combination of you and Day9 is amazing. This video, and thread are awesome. I raise my cup to you :D Chill hwaiting!!

That's pretty much exactly what I was about to say. You're a natural speaker and caster, and this video was so high-quality! You're a great example of what makes the starcraft community the best on there is. Thanks for what you do!
Excellent video, quite historical. Brings back my watching of TSL1 vods (without spoilers) about a month after finals, and my continued attempts to watch the VLC mms stream of TSL2, and me laughing out loud at the CC cancel.

yeah, i have never played bw either, so it also was very educational for me
TSL1 was the best, for me, with so much awesomeness. BBQ Toss, BRAT_OK becoming a seeming wrecking ball, the epic intro, and that amazing finals.
TSL2 was still incredible, and TSL3 is shaping up to be just as good as any, but man... TSL1... that was incredible. I still think back to it from time to time, how awesome it was.
Yeah chill's collar is popped, and that's cuase he's the f*cking man and everyone should know it. Gz on 20k posts and also thanks for the great video <3 :D
Hmm.. ever since i watched the video in the op and only then, I can't read anything Chill has written on TL without it being in his voice, with the same tone/drama as the video in the op. Anyone else experiencing a similar phenomenon?
Just got finished watching that great video, I got to it a little late but still I'm glad that I watched it. Thanks for filling us newer members in on what a great thing the TSL 1 and 2 are. Great job Chill and look I look forward to many many more TSL's.
Oh yeah got massive nerd chills throughout that whole video
Even though it wasn't THAT long ago, remembering the first TSL made me dwell in some nostalgia, I remember visiting my parents during it and not wanting to miss a game I set up really old video projector they had and connected it to laptop to watch the games during night.
While it got somewhat pixelated it still felt epic... BW was just beautiful, while SC2 isn't too bad it still needs a lot of time to live up to it.
