As reported by TeamLiquid on twitter, Huk signed a female fan's chest. Here is the photo:
Both Huk and Destiny were completely cool about the whole thing, truly nice gentlemen all around. I was too nervous to get DJ Wheat to sign them, so he signed my wallet instead >.<
I seriously never got why woman go with that. Why not get something signed.. you know.. that won't fade when you shower... unless she doesn't plan on... nevermind

I've already kinda gone beyond the generic nerd stereotype. Me and everyone I know who likes to spend a lot of time infront their computers playing games also do sports, go to the gym and eat quite heatlhy actually. Even with the progamers, non of them really seem very "nerdy" but I'm sure there is still those that live in their moms basement.
Pretty sure that she looks completely normal sized, it's not like being over 100 pounds means she's a gigantaur monster woman.
on topic though, I do think this is pretty hilarious, and you'd think that a pro gamer is probably low on the list of potential people to be asked to sign a woman's chest. But she got a funny picture she'll probably enjoy for a while, and HuK/Destiny got to play with boobs. win/win.
I'm normally not this guy but..chill out on the judgement. Whether she has a perfect model body or not shouldn't matter. I don't think we should be running people down like that.

Ugh, who cares.. there are attention whores everywhere, no need to make a big deal out of just one. One person is not a portrayal of any group. : P

Girls are allowed to do with their bodies as they please. It'd be wrong for people to assume that this is what all girl gamers are, the same way it'd be wrong to assume that all girls who like music are groupies.

I can see as a woman why you'd get upset so quickly, but honestly there's really nothing to be upset over. It has nothing to do with the portrayal of girl gamers. If you asked any male what they thought a typical girl gamer is like, I guarantee you that they won't say a girl who likes to get autographs on her tits.
Yes, gentleman7, all I'm trying to say is that everyone shouldn't assume that this is how all girls in this community are. What that girl does is whatever she wants to do, and if its get attention then so be it.

That comment in particular bothered me. When a man looks at a woman, the first natural impulse is to judge their attractiveness. It doesn't matter what you do and how you look. It doesn't matter what clothing, what age, what boobs, or what's written on them. People go out of their way to dress to style, put on makeup, and make sure they are in general attractive. Naturally, all human beings, regardless of sex, want to appear attractive, and as a result become "sex symbols." Some people go about this in different ways.
Of course her actions were bound to start up some interesting discussions. It takes a certain person to actually do something like this in public, and I commend her for it. She is not afraid of who she is, and that is great. These types of stories help the spread of eSports, even in the most superficial of ways. Any publicity is good publicity. this is bound to show up on a number of popular communities with gaming inclinations.
If you truly want to be outraged by perceptions of women in the world, take a look at the situation in UAE. Women basically have zero rights. Realize that you are very fortunate to be apart of the western society where you wouldn't be sentenced to death for doing something like this.

She does have the autographs. A photograph remembering an unique event for her might as well be just as good as having a piece of paper with an autograph, I don't see how you could say this is somehow more fleeting.
The girl with Huk/Destiny boobs did what she wanted to do, I don't care what any feminist/woman's lib person says about it. It was her decision, not theirs. She is free to allow anyone to write anywhere on her body, it is her body.

Your counterexample is actually a great example of how people, even or especially on the internet, don't give a damn about how silly their arguments or opinions sound when faced with logic. So much discussion pops up about professionalism and manners and esports over the smallest happenings, and none of them really would be justified if people thought rationally. Unfortunately for us all, we don't. Some intellectually lazy fellow out there will invariably look at one salient member of a population and use that to build upon his personal stereotype of that population.
So while I agree that no one in his right mind should take an instance of a specific girl acting in a specific way and conflate that with intrinsic female tendencies, I don't agree that because it makes no sense, no one does it.

True that. So far the only time I can ever recall an SC2 progamer getting multiple fangirl chants was oGsTOP in last season's GSL (i think). I would have hoped that someone cute like MKP would have developed a following by now. Probably won't happen until SC2 is shown on national tv in Korea.

Sorry, but, we do love girl gamers, not joking. The 'good' and the 'bad'. It's rare when you find a mate who doesn't think you're insane. Right? And you should know by now, as a female, that we like boobs.
In the most tame way possible, trust me, girl gamers are not seen as sex symbols. There will always be creepy people who ask for a full pic of the girl etc. but most girls who play aren't even band status.

There are thousands of men on this forum. I understand what you feel. I respect that. But what I will suggest to you -by the way reading your opinion I have more respect to you- let the people get treated the way they want. You don't have to be Einstein to know getting your boobs signed is not something that has zero sexuality. Why not your forehead or arm but your boobs ? It is not MEN trying to turn women into META, unfortunately it is the women themselves. About being a sexy symbol, if you do this and post a picture of your signed boobs, I am sorry, even the most modest man will have a blood flow to his penis regardless of the context. Even if this girl was doing this to help the sick from radioactiveness in Japan, the moment I look at it -it is basic biology- the moment I forget about Japan.
So don't take offence for what all the women do, like I don't care what all men say or write here. You are individual, protect yourself
Note : A Man's body contains a limited amount of blood, and unfortunately it is not enough for the brain and the weewee at the same time (at least for a decent sized one - jk jk) we should stop posting for a while (jk jk)

No need to be so defensive, lol. It's not like anyone will kill you for stating your opinion. I don't think anyone would see gamer girl's as sex symbols from opening a thread where a girl gamer got her boobs signed.

This thread is a textbook example of why e-sports cant be accepted in the west or become as mainstream as we like, we're driving out an entire gender of people calling them whores and asking them for pics of their face or denigrating their opinions.

The thing I said about sex symbols may have been a little too much. But please put yourself into my perspective. Think like you are a girl for a sec.
A girl has her boobs signed (and btw, I see the humor in it. Its funny). GOTTA LOVE GIRL GAMERS (emphasis my own)
Do you not see? Yes, okay men like breasts. Since that's the case, now I know never to mention anything opposite of that on a male dominated site.
Please, just stop posting about what I said. I get it, what I said is BS to all you. Thanks.
Stephis, I haven't posted yet, but I really do want to have this discussion, so I hope you'll keep posting. That said, I don't appreciate the "victim" stance you're adopting. You came out of the gates calling several people, some who deserve it and some who may not, sexist. This is not "just stating your opinion", them's fightin' words, so you should be prepared to defend it.
The one comment "gotta love girl gamers" by itself doesn't say to me what it does to you, and so I would like to you to explain your opinion calmly. Even though it does bother me that nerdy girls of all types often see their minority position as an opportunity to dress slutty and get fawned over, I don't see that this statement is necessarily stating that all girl gamers do this, or that they all should. Some men on this site literally don't know any women who play or watch Starcraft, and seeing evidence of one who obviously does is nice.
With regards to the comments about this being a step forward for esports, this is clearly true. It's a well documented psychological and sociological phenomenon that women are more attracted to men they see as having high status. Therefore this photo can be seen as evidence that playing starcraft well can earn you respect from women, rather than disdain, as many of us have felt before.
Please do not see this as a personal attack on you, and please extend us the same respect you would want and answer with something other than "you're all men so you wouldn't understand." That's just demeaning.
I fail to see how this is worthy of credit in regards to the players or the girl. Despite the fact this objectification of women does occur in other sports, it doesn't follow that it is in any way right. In fact, Starcraft players should actually seek to avoid cases like this in order to promote equality in the community instead of promoting another patriarchal sport.
Instances like this do inevitably undermine women who wish to be viewed as more than 'eye candy' to men. How do you think the majority of female Starcraft fans, (or females in general) would respond to this kind of behavior? Stephls obviously feels uncomfortable about it so why should it be the case that others would feel differently? On the other hand, a lot of male responses have commented on the girl's weight/appearance and/or expressed approval of this. For me at least, this just represents a lack of respect towards women as equals and the objectification of women.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it either.
Well, if you ignore the obvious watermelons in front of you which are extremely uncommon on the more slender ladies(save implants, but let's not go there), the fingers are a dead give away. I wouldn't call her "fat", but she may have a little meat on her bones.
Wow the anti-sexism knights in shining armor are out in full force today aren't they?
Chill out people. Girl wanted her own breasts signed, nobody made her. If I went to the next MLG and got HuK to sign my chest, would this swing the sexism of the SC2 community back to neutral? If anything you guys are the ones being condescending. Let people make their own freaking choices, women don't need to be protected by men 24/7.
The only thing that's offensive about this in any way shape or form are the people insulting the girl and the players which isn't OK under any circumstances regardless. Not to mention it looks like they got warned/banned anyway.
Seems like a bit of harmless fun, and what a lucky girl to get autographs from her favourite players.
Not sure whats with all the comments on her appearance. I think it's great to have a wide range of fans no matter what anyone looks like. We should accept everyone who is making e-sports bigger.

This exactly. It's a sign of playing starcraft at a high level becoming more accepted from outside the traditional demographic, which I don't think anyone will say is bad.

o_O
Someone called the girl an attention whore. All the guy was trying to say was that the girl was desperate for attention and got it the one way she could -- with her tits. The poster did not imply that she sold her body for money. Yea, the female poster seemed a little offended because the statement "you gotta love girl gamers" implies that she would also get her tits signed in order to get some attention from Huk and Destiny when clearly that's not the case.
It seems many people here are jealous of Huk and Destiny because they haven't got any girl asking them to sign their chests... You're being too harsh so give the girl a break.
ps.: to the ones that are saying that the girl is 'fat' : you probably aren't used to see a girl from that angle so don't be too fast to judge...
Females have genetically been proven to be naturally worse at video games and thus it's safe to conclude this female is a social outcast that started playing Starcraft as a last resort. This would perfectly explain why the picture does not show her face.
Also, I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that females who wear such "attire" at gaming events are only looking to get fucked. At least that's my experience with Blizzcon and Dreamhack.

You can't even see her jeans, not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean her shirt or exposed stomach? I think that's actually pretty common.
I really wish that you didn't just post a gigantic picture of your tits I really hope that if you were unattractive, we wouldn't give a shit and that if you were attractive we still would only be impressed at the fact that this happened. But as it is, a giant picture of tits on teamliquid really bothers me, that's not what we're about.

Wow people can't stay in topic can they. Who needs sociology books when you have SC2 forums... Couldn't care less about the girl's appearance, it's the idea of boobs signed by progamers which is awesome. I would even say it's better if it's not a top model, because then it would probably be a fake to advertise esports. (you know, for those not convinced by the "be a progamer and you will win thousand of dollars per tournament", they could start the "be a progamer and you will sign boobs) Seriously, e-sport is growing (I too loled at that btw), but the hot chicks won't just start putting their signed boobs on community forums... And gratz to the guy who said "Achievement unlocked by Huk and Destiny", best sentence in the thread :D :D
Next stop time magazine, driving around in a limousine, professional video gamer of the year, soon the name everyone will hear, how he instils his opponents with fear, with millions of fans shedding a tear, the rise to fame, becoming a household name, having more money than Charlie Sheen, a movie of his life story starring Sean Bean.

I personally don't view this picture as anything to do with gamer girls. I only am looking at this thread to see more tits, like most guys here. I love how people can't just lol at a funny situation, and instead have to critique it as either sexist or backwards or something that it really isn't.
Its a chick who really fucking loves ESPORTS and wanted her chest signed. Which is a good thing insofar as she got exactly what she wanted, but the fact that people are being so juvenile about this is astonishing to me. I don't think it really has any implications for the growth of ESPORTS other than a funny joke, but I guess its cool that this sort of thing is happening.
oh and as a side note to all the trolls that are screaming about "omg ugly slut" please go home and find a different forum to troll.

Maybe you havent been around girls alot, but its not because they dress that way they want to be fucked. Most girls just want attention, and if they have the assets to show off to get their attention, then why not?
Plenty of rock stars and famous people sign parts of peoples bodies. I can see why someone would want players like huk and destiny to sign too. Hell, some good popularity... although I dont exactly picture her friends and family knowing who "Liquid-Huk" and "Destiny" are xD
My comment was based on being good friends with many Swedish people who have a very active sex life. Yeah: most girls who go to said events, in said attire, want to get fucked. Seriously, it's not even a task - or so I hear. I'm gay myself, and have a boyfriend.
Bloody Swedish people, to be honest, far too horny.
Swedish friend: Cranberries is a huge asshole. But yeah, dreamhack trade channel: "WTT someone to sleep next to for money."

He didnt even qualify for code a and had to get a free seed from gom to even play in code a. He got very lucky getting that code s spot. Hes such a bad arrogant player and cant back up his arrogance with good tournament results/wins.

People hated him for it, don't worry, people will eventually hate HuK for it to. The only Protoss' I enjoy watching are MC and Whitera anyway so it doesn't bother me much.

Still arrogant, nonetheless, and that's the major factor: people don't get sympathy because "it is harder" - they get slammed because they're arrogant cunts.

You're either an awful troll or just plain ignorant. Ever heard of the GSL? HuK's in Code S. If that doesn't constitute a good player then please, I'd love to see your criteria.
Destiny has fans because he is entertaining and he's on the rise.

Idra didnt need to be babysitted by gom to get a place in code s. idra shows good results everywhere. huk couldnt even advance in the gsl wc tourney to the ro8 or even win vs july whose zvp is awful in the world allstars vs korea team match

Just because he got a free spot doesn't mean he wouldn't have made it in. TorcH got to the final of his qualifying group, one BO3 from qualifying, in that GSL and HuK is better than TorcH. Also IdrA's results lately haven't been that great to be honest, he's in a funk.
You're using the fact that he didn't advance in a tournament vs. the best Koreans in the world to show that he's bad? Is that a joke? Guess who else didn't advance in that tournament? Jinro, mOOnGlaDe, MVP, MarineKing, NaDa, and MorroW. Are those players 'bad'?
I can honestly say I never EVER expected SC2 (or E-sports in general) to get popular enough for players to be signing boobies. That is so epic. They're nice tits too, so that's a bonus!
Haha, gratz to Huk and Destiny, gotta be moving up in the world if your signing boobies. :D
yesssss! this is fantastic! Seriously this is the kind of shit e-sports needs. We need people going crazy for pros, getting autographs, cheering their names, constant pictures, making them famous. It'll never get big if we dont make it big.
More girls, more girls with minimal clothing (i.e. those damn fine razer girls), and signitures on chests can only help and grow e-sports to draw people in and make them think e-sports can be on the same level as sports.

Grow up, because seeing tits everywhere will make them more boring every time you see them and thats a bad thing when you finally have a wife and have to live with her for a few decades. You wont have as much fun then anymore because you have gotten used to seeing them all day.
You might want to watch the movie DUNE and think hard about the "test of the box" and your reaction to "girls in minimal clothing".

QED. I'd rather not see esports go down this line, thank you very much. I don't want people coming to watch esports because of the boobies, because then your audience will not appreciate the spectacle of the players actually, y'know, playing the game.

Oh, come on. This is a nice little side feature, barely a blip on the radar. It hardly follows that SC2 will now inevitably fail as a sport, or that e-sports is doomed to degrade into StarTits 2 and Halo: Reach For The Tits.
Men have liked boobs since the dawn of time. I'd wager it'd be worse for the sport if we couldn't get excited about a little bit of cleavage that happens to turn up once or twice.

If Koreans weren't so shy, Nada could have signed about 150k pairs of breasts by now . . .
Why does everyone act like girls participating in esports is so big of a deal. BW had an entire fangirl culture built around the sex appeal of its star players that rivaled the male fans.

Those game titles actually made me lol, especially Reach for the Tits. Anyway, I was specifically responding to the person who said that having players sign female breasts would help promote esports, which is clearly an uninformed and unintelligent comment.
I personally don't want esports to go down the path of regular sports, since I think they differ so much in the both the player skill and viewer demographic departments. I didn't say that SC2 is going to fail as a sport, but I think that it would be bad to attempt to generate the "conventional sports" image for it.

Girls in every scene do this once in a while. It has nothing to do with the fact that she was a gamer. I'm sure if she liked rock music, hockey or ping-pong she would have got a top player in any of those fields to sign her chest.
@stephls : If your goal is to fight people being portrayed as sex symbols, you have about 7000 years of history to undo. Also, trillions of dollars in marketing campaigns. I'm not going to say there's equal representation of each gender in sex symbol roles - but it would be rediculous to say that only females are portrayed as such.
People really dont need a reason to argue about anything anymore do they? Two big boobs with huk and destiny written on them, you dont even need to look at the rest of the picture if you dont want.

;TLDR, You don't like boobs?
I think I speak for the rest of the community when I say I would love to see a female compete in e-Sports at a high level. I don't really know the semantics of it, but, I highly doubt sexism plays a factor in placement for GSL spots. That sounds as if it would be somewhat illegal. If anything, it would help them get babied by GOM. (Similar to some foreign players). It seems like you're over reacting to some guys liking boobs. Simple biology
I would like to reiterate that I haven't checked any facts in sexism in SC2 placement
Guys harassing girl gamers AND tgirl gamers using their god given gifts for attention can be seen in all games, especially MMO's. It's kinda sad both that some guys can't control themselves around girls online and that some girls do anything for attention/drama in online games.
These two stereotypes are very common and coined phrases such as "grrl gamer", "online white knights" etc.

Personally I have always thought these girls are demeaning their own sex, because they are "selling themselves far too cheap".
We males should stop acting like cavemen who go bananas at the first sight of some half-naked breasts, BUT the females should stop using their sex to take advantage of it. Obviously it is pretty unlikely to ever happen, but as Dukhat [Babylon 5] once said "When others do a foolish thing you should tell them it is a foolish thing. They can still continue to do it, but at least the truth is out." Also we need to learn to control our emotions to become truly human [just as Frank Herbert showed us in DUNE] or else we will be nothing more than cattle led around the pasture by a leash held by media and sales department managers ...
;TLDR, You don't like boobs?
I think I speak for the rest of the community when I say I would love to see a female compete in e-Sports at a high level. I don't really know the semantics of it, but, I highly doubt sexism plays a factor in placement for GSL spots. That sounds as if it would be somewhat illegal. If anything, it would help them get babied by GOM. (Similar to some foreign players). It seems like you're over reacting to some guys liking boobs. Simple biology
I would like to reiterate that I haven't checked any facts in sexism in SC2 placement
a. Guys who are always going "woot ... boobs ... awesome!" are not better than small children or animals which are also driven by instincts and emotions. I thought we were more advanced than that already, but I guess a few decades of marketing and TV have put us a few steps back there ...
b. What exactly is the connection between boobs and Starcraft? [I really am looking forward to the answer to this one if you try to make it different from "There is none." ...]
That being said you also should consider that there is ALWAYS "too much of a good thing" which is valid in every aspect of our lives(*1). Overexposure simply means you need a "higher dose" next time around to get to the same level of excitement and thus it might be more advantageous for us males to "save the dose of boob exposure" for the time spent with your girlfriend.

Hahaha. Really, she wanted to get the autographs, who named you morals officer of the girl gamers? You seem like you would want to come out as a equal rights & shit dude but you only come out as an oppressor, defining what is right or wrong for a person to do. Stop thinking in terms of PC, it's in most cases a loss of freedom and wrong.

A) You don't like boobs, for sure. B) The connection between boobs and Starcraft in this situation is that two pro gamers autographed a girls breasts. The female wanted her breasts signed by two men she knew to be famous. I don't know about the rest of you, but, I know I fantasize about famous people.
That being said, my reply was directed at your correlation between the men oogling at the picture and the lack of girls in the professional gaming scene. You did not retort to, or even address your the fact that 'us banana eating un-evolved barbarians' had slim to nothing to do with the presence of women in professional gaming.

White Knight Syndrome n. A personality characteristic found in most males that lead them to: 1. rush to the aid of any female they see who appears in any form of distress. 2. Become attracted to said damsel in distress. 3. Follow the dying code of chivalry and generally act like a nice guy.
Also called young man's disease. -urbandictionary.com

And I'm sure you know this from taking girls home from Blizzcon/Dreamhack and not pure speculation, right?
I personally don't view this picture as anything to do with gamer girls. I only am looking at this thread to see more tits, like most guys here. From the responses here, it's clear almost any post other than "nice tits" is going to be attacked. The thread would have been fine but then there are posts generalizing from this one picture...
If you read the original link youd see she has a boyfriend.
I feel bad for the boyfriend. We need to stop spending time and money on attention whores.
I don't understand why everything these days has to be some sort of social commentary as if something like this is going to set woman's suffrage back 50 years, or every guy in this thread is some sort of horrible person and a heathen...
Why can't something just be fun, have a laugh, make a few comments and move on? I mean for real everything typed on the internet isn't 100% serious all the time. A few boob comments doesn't mean every guy on this forum is now going to walk around with a club knocking any girl they see over their head and dragging them back to their cave. And if they do end up doing that they probably would have regardless of this thread and said picture.
Just so sick how everything fun deteriorates into something like this. News flash, this isn't the first girl in the world to have their cleavage signed. Even the old lady in Happy Gilmore got her cleavage signed!

Honestly, there really shouldn't be "Gamer girls" or "Girl gamers", there should just be gamers. Calling attention with such words are both bad for the male side and the female side. Since some girls play games to just get attention and unfortunately, due to the low population of females in our "field", they gain such attention. Which creates a horrible cycle where guys think all girl gamers are bad, and the really dedicated female gamers don't get respect because of their attention whoring counterparts
It is a really horrible situation and unfortunately it will have to be address very soon, along with the gay and lesbian communities as well, since gaming and e-sports are becoming more main stream every day. I hope we can accept, encourage and just welcome everyone into the community, cept the casuals, fuck casuals, theyr'e ruining the game for us (j/k, well kind of)

I know. I should have just clicked the thread read the first page, had a quick laugh scratched my head and made the, "whatever lol" comment to myself and moved on. Nothing good was going to come from reading on.
I'll give myself the old "Welcome to the Internet..."
i think the discussion about this totally goes the wrong way. sex sells, women know that and abuse it, which is completely natural. then again, this woman doesnt get any benefits from her action except attention on the internet, so its safe to say she is a big attention whore. there is plenty of attention whores out there so again, no big deal. but what really tips me off about this particular case is the way she goes about attention whoring. "I wasn't going to post, but I have no one to really gloat to besides my boyfriend...." - Thats the blogtitle, really?? I wasnt going to post?? Sure!
Why not be honest and name it "Here are pics of my tits, if i get 1000000 hits maybe ull see more! Oh and I dont need attention by random guys on the internet, in fact Im so socially secure and loveable that I have a boyfriend! I swear!!!"

Why blame the girl who does this when this very thread already has a ton of people going "omgyaaaay half-naked chicks <333333". Now she is an 'attention whore', which is an insult, for abusing male stupidity and single-mindedness, but that's a fact of life or so?
Personally I thought this was mildly amusing, and certainly it's nice for e-sports growth to have people with enough star power to make this worthwhile, but otherwise it's insignificant and hardly needs discussion. What sickens me is that every time something like this happens, there's not just debate about if it is sexist or not etc. but that there are a bunch of people who are so quick to insult the girl, going as far as to call her fat and ugly. Those things show a lot of male gamer stereotypes are actually based on real people that can quickly derail any discussion about women to appear degrading and hostile.

But nobody in their right mind would think that if one person behaves a certain way, everyone that is in some way related to them will behave/will be thought to behave the same, would they?
It's like me saying I don't like any SC2 player just because I don't like some things 1-2 of them do that I consider disrespectful.
There's a reason we're individuals, not sheep.
Though, come to think of it that "gotta love girl gamers" guy must be a parents' basement dweller acne-ridden nerd, I mean that's the stereotype, isn't it.
All this arguing about sexism is kinda ridiculous. Honestly, the feminists in the 60s were burning bras, and wearing skimpier clothing because the moral nagging crowd was trying to tell them how to behave. The girl that complained, Stephls was it? I kind of agree, this might not be the best choice she could make if she was wanting to be respected. But there are also girls that just do things for fun. It was probably fun, and that's why she wanted her boobs signed. Just like when a guy goes on a friend-date with a female with no hopes of reproduction, etc... It's a bad decision, not productive, will end up giving him blue balls, but it's what he wanted to do, and he was exercising his freedom to do so. If everything us humans had to do, had to comform to everyone else's moral codes, nothing would ever get done.

I guess it's pretty huge when u think about who signed it and why. It's just a small step for esports into the direction of "normal" sports or entertainment, where stuff like this happens all the time.

I know at least one girl who would do the same thing right away. I don't think this is huge at all, just because -ONE- person did it.
Why are so many people in this thread talking about how the girl is fat?
How would you feel if you were in a picture that got uploaded at MLG and there were 20 pages of people calling you ugly and pointing your acne or bad haircut?
Its completely irrelevant and just unnecessarily mean. Manner up guys this is not what the TL community is about.
More bans/warnings please mods.. lets enforce some civility here.

IIRC, she uploaded it herself on a blog. Criticizing her for her looks is just as superficial and shallow as uploading a pic of your signed boobs though imo. Its not that she is fat or should not have fun and get her boobs signed if she wants to, but uploading a pic of it to a blog is blatant attention whoring, dont you think? gotta be prepared for some rude comments if you put yourself in the spotlight, the internet isnt disneyland.

Agreed! This is a terrible portrayal of girl gamers/fans. And I really dislike the comments like "gotta love girl gamers". This is degrading, no matter who is doing the signing.
If she really wanted the autographs, she would have gotten them on something that she could keep. I don't want to start any type of argument. As a woman, I am offended by the picture and all the posts that follow, except for the posts that point out how ridiculous it is. Obviously, since majority of you are male, most will disagree with me and I would lose any argument I try to make. I'm just saying, as a girl gamer, I don't want all girl gamers to be portrayed as sex symbols.
You wouldnt have to worry about that if there werent so many complete idiots in the community.
Honestly what you should worry about is not her, its that either people are stupid enough to think that just because 1 person behaves a certain way (which, btw, seems like a completely acceptable way to behave to me but I understand if its not something you are interested in), everyone willl... Or you might be wrong and this wont do much of anything for "girl gamers", in either direction.
Hi Jinro ^^ Wasn't going to post on this thread again, but I guess I will once more. Let me just say that my posts in the beginning were strictly from my emotions and not very logical. There are some things that I said that don't make any sense and I realize that. (Like assuming that just because one person does something, then people will think that everyone in that group will do that). Honestly, I hardly care about this situation anymore.
What I just want everyone to realize is if you truly want esports to grow, it isn't by signing as many breasts as possible. (Although I do know that this particular picture gives publicity, so its good. But think again that this woman was only seen on TL, r/starcraft, and at MLG. So is it really any promotion outside the community?). Anyway, if you want esports to grow, it is by accepting women into the community. Don't treat them any differently! Let them be gamers and ignore the fact that they are a girl or have long discussions about there breasts. Respect them. Like someone else had said, there shouldn't be a label of "gamer girls", it should just be "gamers". Its true, but that isn't how it is, unfortunately,
Obviously, no one forced this woman to do this. She can and will do whatever she wants and I'm sure it was fun for her. More power to her. Hell, I'm jealous she even met Huk. I'm just more saddened by the posts that followed. Thought this was a more respectful community. I've learned that this isn't an issue that can be discussed on TL. Too many opposing forces, but there are people here that agree with me.
To end, I just want quote a PM I received yesterday.
The sad thing is, the fact that you're not able to say anything in defense of women's rights without being subject to criticism and ridicule exemplifies the fact that this community is so patriarchal. I was actually genuinely saddened to see that picture because it would be awesome for sex equality to be promoted in Starcraft as it is a developing sport and reaches a lot of people - male and female alike. A lot of people don't seem to recognise how significant and disappointing that incident actually is.

I fail to see how this has anything to do with "women's rights". She had a choice whether or not to get her tits signed, she decided to get her tits signed, and she had every right to get her tits signed. What's the problem? EDIT: This is in reference to the PM.

This has nothing to do with women's rights. The girl in the picture decided to go up and ask two of the "stars" of our community to sign her chest. The reason there's ridicule being directed at people trying to defend women's rights is not because people in this community to not believe in them, it's because they don't see this as a women's rights issue. It is simply naive and somewhat conceited to assume that people who don't think this is a women's rights issue are inherently sexist. This whole argument just screams high horse, and there aren't any posts here that really highlight why this is any different than literally any other case in society where people recognize the fact that men are attracted to breasts.
To put it in perspective, girls do not need to do these things to be part of the SC2 community. Nobody is asking female gamers to act like fangirls, nobody is asking them to get their bodies signed or anything. In fact, a lot of the men in the community could be called fangirls, if we really wanted to go that far. They do things that any pro sports community would ridicule, at least. The fact is that one person wanted to do something that's considered a little edgy, (and yes, attractive) in other sports scenes, so power to her.
If you want to promote sex equality in Starcraft, you encourage female gamers to go out and compete at high levels. Most fans and watchers aren't anywhere near pro level anyways, so judging the actions of one girl at a massive gaming event is pretty hypocritical, if you aren't going to look at all the stuff male fans are doing, too. (Trust me, it gets pretty wierd)
I really like how you show a picture of not-even-naked boobs in the gaming community, and a discussion breaks loose with 90% of the posters loosing their common sense. Just don't make a huge deal about it. This has nothing at all to do with women's rights.
People; relax. Tons of girls get their chest signed by celebrities and such. Idk if she should have made a thread about it but its pretty cool non-the-less. I mean; i like boobs just like every other guy but i dont think shes a "whore" or "slut" or some shit. All in good fun ^_^

The point is that "fun" is a bad excuse, because we do not live alone. People are citing "freedom" or "its just for fun" as reasons for not having to consider the consequences of their actions.
Sure the women of the 60s were burning their bras, but what did they trade for it? Super skimpy clothes and plastic surgery for bigger boobs just so they can present ever more of their "attributes" to men in a competition to please the men. The way I see it they traded one supposed evil for a real evil because through the ever present boobs in our societies and the loose ways in which people treat sex we have lost so much. Especially the second one has disadvanteges only for women.
The point is that none of us is alone in the world and we all have to respect "our fellow man". This means that if we are walking across the street without using a pedestrian crossing and do that right in front of an elementary school we are responsible for kids copying that behaviour and having accidents. If we go around half-naked or start having sex in public (OR show such behaviour on media which are available for minors ... like the internet) then kids will copy that too.
Freedom is NOT the freedom to do whatever you want until you get sued for it! If you adapt one sentence which Rosa Luxemburg said ever so slightly you get a prett good definition of freedom: "Freiheit ist immer die Freiheit des Andersdenkenden, ..." [Freedom is always the freedom of the one who thinks differently] original quote which she used to criticise the russian revolution and the intolerant behaviour against non-communists. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosa_Luxemburg "Freiheit ist immer die Freiheit des Anderen." [Freedom is always the freedom of other people.] my adaptation which limits MY freedom when I infringe upon anyone elses freedom. I think this kind of behaviour was clearly visible in the reactions of the japanese people after the tsunami and many people admired it. No one complained and whined because that would bother other people with your own personal sorrows.
The bottom line is that everyone of us is part of a society and whatever we do - unless it is behind closed doors - affects the people around us. Does anyone have the right to walk over the feelings of other people? If your society thinks it is acceptable for girls to let their boobs be signed by people then by all means do it, but DONT expect everyone else to follow you with that.
Why won't this thread just die, why do you guys have to keep arguing morality
it happened, she wanted it, she got it, who f'ing cares
Nobody is going to apologize for her actions, its just some autographs that she wanted on her tits, she thought it'd be funny probably, it got enough laughs out of the community now why do we have to keep arguing about womens rights non stop.
What is the problem guys? Who cares how much she weights? Probably waaay more attractive that the majority of the guys who are pointing out all flaws will ever date. She doesn't look bad at all to me. You guys are just mean. Why don't you post a picture of yourself so we can all tell you how horrible you look? It was all in fun.

It IS a womens rights issue, because it affects the way men see women and since this gets wayyyyyyyyy more exposure than your average girl asking for an autograph on a sheet of paper it doesnt matter it was only one girl. She is basically doing it for her own attention, but what happens next time when a guy asks "can I sign on your boobs?" It might create an awkward or worse situation.

Couple things, here. First, it was men forcing women to keep it covered up, now it's men supposedly forcing women to show it off. Honestly, I sincerely wonder what has to happen for people to be satisfied. The only answers I've heard have been to fundamentally change what people are attracted to. As long as you have a society where people want more sex than they're getting, you're going to have people talking about fairness and equality between sexes, and I don't think you can say that society now is any more evil than previous incarnations of the same aspects of human nature. No hate, but most of what I've seen of modern feminism is plenty of "this is bad" and very little of "this is what it should look like."
As far as your last point goes, responsibility and rights. It's a two way street. If you want the right to have freedoms to perform actions, you do have the responsibility to avoid infringing on the rights of people to be protected from those actions. At the same time, society can't function if it constantly bends to the tyranny that could be associated with people who demand that rights are taken away from others because they are easily offended. So yes, I do claim to have the right to walk over the feelings of other people, if what they're asking me to do amounts to something that I deem ridiculous. Sure, I'm not getting all my buddies together for a bondage bash inside the local mall, (even if I wanted to, I wouldn't, out of respect for fellow mall-goers), but if someone came in to TL asking everyone politely to avoid any talk of feminism because it hurts their feelings to see it, I sincerely doubt that your stance on stepping on feelings would remain the same as the one you posted.
It's not offensive to me that she got her boobs signed and posted the picture. Whatever.
It IS offensive the number of comments saying she's fat, ugly, a whore, etc. WTF? In my opinion she looks pretty normal sized, but even if she were fat that's no excuse. When you see a person (male or female) on the street who isn't very attractive, do you shout about that to their face? I bet not, it's just plain rude and mean. It's equally unacceptable here.
And the "OMG it's a GIRL!" thing in the SC community does feel really weird.

Are you kidding? No progamer is going to ask a random chick if he can sign her boobs. If it happens, you can come back here, quote this, and shove it in my face, and maybe I'll make a youtube video about how wrong I was on the internet, but... no way. That is absolutely not a statement you can defend.
And yeah, it got exposure. The community is largely male, males are attracted by female breasts, and as far as I can tell from the picture, that pair isn't all that bad. You don't need a PHD is psychology to know that if you put it out there, people are gonna look, and people are gonna comment. Feel free to ask your fellow TLers to not look at the female chest with two "local" progamers' signatures on it. It's edgy, edgy stuff gets views on the internet.
This thread is exceptionally sad, pedantic internet nerds critique boobs for +500 damage. She has nice chest hams, some of us like em with shape and definition regardless, I'd smother myself to death in them. If you want to see ladyboys just be honest guys and hit up google images.

Looking at most of those type of comments shows that they are relitively new to the TL community. Probably arriving from reddit and shit.
Let me just say that this has NOTHING to do with women's rights and you have to remember that some members of the community are very lacking in tact. You should take everything that is said with a fairly large grain of salt, for your own sanity.
That being said, I actually agree with your sentiment. These kinds of topics should be confined to blog posts, if that, as no worthwhile discussion can be generated, only kiddie remarks such as "hur dur gotta luv girl gamers/breasts/swoon/etc" or endless bickering about how pointless this thread actually is.
I totally skipped around 15 pages of nonsense regarding one's weight, I just wanted to link more boobie-signing action in esports by none other than the legendary Daigo: http://vimeo.com/13324213 (1:36minute mark)
Now stop this pointless flamefest and enjoy that bit!
We really need some more banlings up in here. It's sad JWD has to sneak a warning at the bottom of like the 16th page just to tell everyone to stop being an idiot behind your computer 0.o

When you see a person (male or female) on the street who isn't very attractive, do you shout about that to their face? I bet not, it's just plain rude and mean. It's equally unacceptable here.
And the "OMG it's a GIRL!" thing in the SC community does feel really weird.
this absolutely.
its sad because of the contempt anonymous nerds have for women itll probably take several extra years for esports to reach the mainstream. in korean broodwar its not uncommon for an audience at a live event to be 50% female and id hate to think the only way for sc2 fangirls to be part of the scene is to be gender anonymous. attacking someone, especially females for being ugly on a sc2 forum just makes me sad. if the chick was 300 lbs thats still doesnt justify attacking how someone looks on an internet gaming forum.
i dont think this is much of a womens rights issue but more of a situation where we might stifle women (openly) being part of sc2. being a guy who hopes to find a girl who likes sc2 someday its a pity our community does this to itself.
this isnt the first time this has happened believe it or not, this thread is a great example of why i didnt want pics/video of the signing happening. grow up, just having fun and you people are always to serious

Posting an opinion (anonymously) on the internet about somebody you don't and will never know has utterly nothing in common with "shouting about it to their face". Either you made a sincere mistake or you are a bonafide troll. Your argument and conclusion that it's unacceptable is contingent upon your false analogy to "shouting in someone's face". Agreed! This is a terrible portrayal of girl gamers/fans. And I really dislike the comments like "gotta love girl gamers". This is degrading, no matter who is doing the signing.
Or you might be wrong and this wont do much of anything for "girl gamers", in either direction.
...

That's quite the backtrack. Glad to see you agree that it doesn't matter. Unfortunately you followed it up with a complete contradiction.

No need to discuss the fact, its intuitive. [/QUOTE]
first, in that picture she is fully dressed and there was no implication either guy actually touched her body. if she was blowing these guys in the bathroom obviously no one would be coming to her defense. personally im not interested in her aspect of this situation at all, its the guys on tl i find sad.
second i couldent care less about whose talking shit on reddit and wont make any attempt to stop the shit talk on reddit because i know its way past impossible. people go to reddit to see outrageous stuff and laugh, some people go there specifically to talk shit and nothing else. however this was reposted on tl and the insults im talking about were posted on tl.
third if ONLY girls were calling that chick a whore i probably wouldent even care but from the way posts were worded, its from people attracted to women (prob guys) who have standards probably too high to be realistic (remember this is an INTERNET GAMING FORUM) who also think that other guys want to laugh at this girl being called a fat whore.
girls have been using their looks for attention since the human race existed. yeah she did that for attention but religion in the world will cease to exist before women stop trying to get attention for their looks.
theres bound to be plenty of attractive guys who read tl and can get hot girls, regardless it doesnt justify talking shit.
It's not a big deal and it's nice to see players having fun.
What sucks is that when girls do stuff like this it creates a stigma -- it's hard enough being a girl in the SC2 community. I don't want people to think I'm there for the attention. Then again I'm not gonna ask anyone to sign my chest. BM on the girls part, imo.
But also shame on all of you for making such crazy lewd comments. Let's be adults, eh? This is StarCraft II not a Harley bar.

(Trust me, it gets pretty wierd)
Here's the thing about this. I gave Stephis a hard time yesterday for acting like a victim a fight she started, but I don't really think she's wrong about whether this is good for esports.
In my earlier post I also said that I do believe this is a sign that esports is growing, as there exist women who think that being good at starcraft is worthy of their admiration, putting aside how this woman decided to express that. This is cool, because many of us male gamers (and I'm sure female gamers as well) have experienced disdain from "mainstream" women, more than from men, for spending so much time and energy on games.
However, just because this is a sign that esports is growing does not mean that it is going to make it grow more. You say we should encourage female gamers to play and compete, and I agree. The sort of reactions that can be seen in this thread, such as insulting the appearance of the woman picture (whether or not the judgment is reasonable) or the desire expressed for her to perform additional services for the players, will make many women feel uncomfortable. Even worse is that these voices do not seem to be a minority.
TL;DR: Women won't want to play starcraft if the community is seen as being full of sex-crazy adolescents who will ask them for "pix" and make lewd comments. If we want women to play starcraft someone needs to shut these people the hell up.

Not really surprising when most people followed BW were hardcore fans. SC2 is more casual friendly so of course we have a lot more new people here. New generation so to speak (not really a new generation). If you check the BW section, it has a lot less these kinda idiotic posts. It has few of them but less.
It's easy to tell which posters are teens and which are older. As for the teenage responses, well, they are not surprising. Combine that with anonymity and really, people are gonna act with their impulses.
When older, more respectable men see an attractive female wear cleavage-baring outfits, they have long perfected the method of quickly flashing their eyes away. They "looked", but they know to keep it discreet(which is cool with the ladies, they know full well you looked - they caught your eyes flick direction - but you didn't make it obvious). There is no way to do that, on the Internet, other than change the topic entirely.
Respect and pro-gaming. As with anything, respect is earned, and in this case, earned through simply being a winner, earning sponsorship, and once again, WINNING. You don't earn respect by repeatedly losing tourneys.
So steph, you said you want this differentiation between men and women gamers to stop, and just all of us being regarded one and the same. You also said "Put yourself in a woman's shoes" You understand what I'm getting at? We can't ask for either side to give special treatment to the other. We're not trying to be cold blooded.

You're right. Her version is rude. Your version is rude and cowardly... much better. How does hiding behind a veil of anonymity make it any more acceptable?
Some girl got her boobs signed and posted a picture. Whether she's drop-dead gorgeous or ugly as heck has absolutely nothing to do with the story so it's kind of sad that the community focuses on that. Harping on it (in either direction) only serves to push women further away from the community.
My last girlfriend was somewhat of a gamer and she pretty much quit her game-of-choice's community because of immature comments about her weight/looks and people always hitting on her (and she didn't even post a picture!). Comments like those only serve to batter the girl's ego and make the commenter look pathetic. No one wins.
Only tl posters can take something this tame, and make a big deal about it. Absolutely fantastic guys I really didn't think you could become even more pedantic.
Anyone who does anything on the internet is bound to get criticism. As for the girl, I'll thank her for sharing the picture. Believe me, I've seen much more of what you would call "fan whoring" on the internet.

I like it when people comment on the choice of her autographs as if it's a build order they're picking apart. She's a fan, with sigs on her boobs. It's cool bro, it's cool.

People on these forums aren't saying its awesome because OMG THERES BOOBS... if we wanted to see boobs we could go to any of a million websites that are dedicated to taht. The fact is that people were pumped because girls asking you to sign their breasts is a sweet status symbol.
If you do your job great at an engineering firm or as an accountant no woman is gonna ask you to sign her boobs, the fact that girls are asking gamers to sign them puts them in a whole nother level
She may have been showing off, but tbh, i think id show off too if i had my boobs signed by some awesome progamers!
(And a previous poster said she felt this was degrading to female gamers? See, im a girl and i dont think its degrading at all :/ And it certainly doesnt make me feel like female gamers are being badly represented or whatever :/ )
And she certainly doesnt look fat. She looks normal. Not fat. Not anorexic. Normal. She looks like shes at a healthy weight.
I honestly believe the vast majority of people on this site aren't stupid enough to see this and think that all girls behave this way and that's an excuse to insult them. There's just a few idiots about that make more noise than everyone else combined, and thankfully the mods here silence them.
I would certainly never ask a guy to sign my breasts, but I have no problem with the girl in the photo doing it. I even think it's fun. A photo like this is not an excuse to treat her or me or any woman like she's just a piece of meat. I'm glad to see so many sensible people speaking up - hopefully we'll silence the idiot minority some day. Then we'll get more girls feeling brave enough to get more involved with the community, and we'll see the stereotypes change when there's more girl gamers about that just the ones in hotpants promoting Razer.
Im not sure why people are linking the comments made on a NICHE starcraft website to girls not playing starcraft.
According to average active viewers of TL, much less than 1% of the sc community comes here at all. Furthermore, a girl thinking about getting into starcraft isn't very likely to have visited a niche fan website for the game before trying it.
I bought starcraft because i wanted to play starcraft, i didn't find this website for months after. Female culture is less accepting of gaming than male culture, thus you see less females gaming,
It has little to nothing to do with a backwater website that nobody outside of a very small subset community has heard of. to take it a step further and say a particular thread is "the reason" girls dont game is another step into retardation.
I got into starcraft because its a hobby my husband enjoys a lot, and i wanted to take part. I understand fully that teenage boys will make lewd comments about women, It is not going to stop me, or any reasonably motivated woman from taking part.
People constantly jibe at July for being slightly overweight and nobody bats an eye, please stop this fuss over a few comments made about someone who quite clearly has a lot of self confidence anyway, A woman who is taking pictures of her tits, whilst wearing tiny panties... to post on the internet is very unlikely to be the sort of woman who gives a shit about what a 15 year old types in a post.

QFT.
More threads getting out of hands like this means less boobs for me to sign in the future, which means less incentive to stream/practice, which means less motivation for most people to practice and place well in tournies, which means the death of e-sports as we know it.
TL:DR if you hate on boobs, you're destroying e-sports.
I think everyone's just jealous that they don't have the chest to fit Destiny's whole name on there. It's okay guys, not everyone can be well-developed.
I honestly don't view this as a form of wanting attention, it was cute/fun and she just wanted to share it with people, if you don't want to give her that kind of attention, don't look or post (kind of hard, but yeah... you get my point).

Chill out guys
I'm not sure what July being overweight has to do with this. It is a noticeable aspect of him, so obviously there will be some comments about it, but July is generally well-loved so they will be good-natured. If there actually would be people screaming "DEATH TO THE FATTY", they'd be banned (and this has happened), so that means you can't just categorize all comments about someone's weight as equal.
The posts here perpetuate a male gamer stereotype of somehow hateful of and hostile to women. Maybe you can see past this: after all, it just happens on this tiny insignificant niche website(??) - but really, as far as the argument is concerned, teamliquid is all that matters. It was said on this website, which is representative for gaming websites. It happens on other places too, but that's not relevant other than to say the bad example shown here shows up beyond here too.
I mean, good for you to not be offended by this, but what actually is your point? Because people should be 'big enough people' to not care too much about the hostility to women, then it's actually bad to be annoyed when said hostility happens?

You realize that the attitude of elitists who believe that only a select few are capable of making good posts are probably the major contributing factor to the lack of new, quality posters on this site, right? TL has always come off as an extremely elitist and cliquey place, at least in my view.
Huk : "you people are always to serious" That's a TL member for you, so moderate: personally I wouldn't call "serious" people spamming fat/whore to a fangirl just sharing a funny memory with her (soon-to-be-ex as far as this thread goes) favorite SC community... I mean, cmon, you would see more skin on a beach. The idea was clearly not "I wanna show my booooobs", anybody would do this elsewhere than in a nerds' nest, right ? However, bad assumption to believe other sc2 fans would just see a sc2 fan thing... I guess asshole gamers are assholes before being gamers. [if this makes any sense in English] And to the hot-blooded feminist, just know you're playing against what you try to defend. Less passion, more reason All-in-all, epic thread. I'm new here but after the eagle stuff and some other random threads, I'm enjoying myself on this website. Expect more monologues hehe.
Both Huk and Destiny were completely cool about the whole thing, truly nice gentlemen all around. I was too nervous to get DJ Wheat to sign them, so he signed my wallet instead >.<
I doubt when you can have two fellows sign suggestive parts of your anatomy, you're too nervous to have a third fellow sign them.
I'm not quite sure what to say beyond this. Funny stuff, I suppose.
She's obviously a fan of both players, and a fan of Starcraft 2.
Who are we to judge her, I can bet that loads of people have asked for autographs from people before, and some in more Tasteless (hurr) places than that.
Just let it slide guys, we never see people bitching because Brian Johnson (Lead singer of ACDC) signs girls chests, why should here be any different.
Apart from the obvious "hurr this isn't music, this is ESports arguement" the principal still stands, it's a fan, wanting an autograph.....off a person who their a fan of.
I think people are making too big a deal of this. I highly doubt she intended for this to be anything more than a bit of fun. Some of you need to chill a little bit; this isn't as big a deal as it's being made out to be.
1. There is only a handful in this thread taking it too serious, the rest reacting to it. 2. How can anyone call her fat? Especially since a lot of Americans post on this website, that's skinny by US standards and definately normal (and feminine) by European standards. 3. Go Huk!
Somebody at MLG asked me if I would take a picture with their baby. I was worried he meant I would have to hold the child. I didn't. Was a great pic, his kid was enormous and adorable.
Someone asked if they could "touch my bicep." I said no
I signed a dudes chest (he had a shirt on).
I got challenged to an impromptu arm wrestle and immediately accepted. Victory obv
Someone asked if they could take a pic with me pretending to hit them. I said no to that as well.
Just thought I'd share in the off-chance any of these turn into a mega serious discussion as well.
You signed a dudes chest? That's ridiculous! I don't appreciate this horrible turn for esports! If this sort of thing catches on male gamers will be seen as sex symbols which is hugely detrimental to the scene in general.
I hope you're ashamed of yourself for this despicable act.

Can't this thread be closed? Without wanting to take a stand for a certain side here, there's definitely more bad then good resulting from the "discussion" of such a pic. It's not productive in any way.

That's a pretty cool idea in my opinion, too bad that you said no
i think he should have, its being mean to fans if you don't take cool pictures with them. any other thoughts on this?
Well the problem with this is that if the person were a dick, they could use a little photo shop and seriously get incontrol in trouble with that somehow. Saying incontrol hits his fans and goes in an angry rage ahhh blah blah blah imba imba.
But that would be a sweet ass fan picture though if I had one

Somehow I don't believe that this was the reason incontrol denied the request... But I think every progamer should draw their own line when dealing with fans and nobody should judge them for it, so I'm not criticizing incontrol or anything. It's just a bit sad because it was a funny idea
