I hate how Rakaka is always bringing up everything SWEDISH.

Every other site out there tries to bridge the gaps in e-sports, tries to get the best players in their tournaments. Rakaka is doing the exact opposite, they focus their reporting on Swedish players and have streams in Swedish (wft?).

I'm all for fostering the local scene but to me it just seems silly. For example, when they announced the TSL bracket, all the Swedish names were highlighted. Why? It's a nice fact that Jinro is Swedish but the only thing I care about in e-sports in which continent people comes from, not which country.

I do approve of this tournament however, I think Sweden is a large enough area for this type of "find the best player and send him to X" competition". Commenting in Swedish is just bad though, it sounds so bad. Especially when you try to "Swedenify" the words.

EDIT: That came of a bit angry, this is actually a great initiative from Rakaka, just want them to drop the "Sweden is great hurrrrr" act and start rooting for what is important (Europe).

Is the typicall swedish pride new for you? for me not.
"we are so awesome.ahead of everyone": "would be such a rape against germany" "oh wow look how many swedes in the crowd""im swedish deal with it"" so many swedish players in the TSL.as many as koreans and germans"" swedish,sweden,sweden,swede"..... im about to die because its so annoying...
and check the canadians and us-americans here now. they are so different.
They dont care about the nationalities.when do i see "USA fighting,we rock"? never
by the way i remember DH when there wasnt even an ukraine and german qualification but at least 100000 more swedes were invited and from these 100000 not a single one made it through the quarter-finals by the way.
And then we have rakaka...oh dear i dont often visit the site but thats the most patriotic bullshit-site in the universe.
But thats the system. after my post im getting 100000 swedes once again who defend their country XD its getting so fun and its getting confirmed once again.
But im happy even swedes(of course not all are so annoying=) ) like you have written all the things in the previous post.
I love how the americans always deal with these tournaments, invites, coverages etc.
They are always open for everyone.
Cast in swedish. good one.
Peace

Why so much hate? Why wouldn't they be patriotic? It's a swedish site who writes about esports in a simple way. Just like goodgame.ru who write on russian and all the russians is on that site and if their superstar BratOK or Kas is playing you'll se all the russians go crazy in every live thread here, nothing wrong with that. Just like Germans cheer for TLO, Socke and Hasu etc.

How can you even be mad at people for cheering on their countrymen? It's like you're mad just because Belgium sucks in general at esports and sports and you don't have anyone to root for from your country in big tournaments. tt

The reply you don't deserve:
While there are some pubertal boys who likes to spam "SWE????" all over the internet, when it comes to talking about national pride overall you will find far more of that from people in the USA. Land of the free burger flippers. love you guys tbh though <3

The reply you do deserve:
U jelly?
U mad?
I have the Will.

Maybe you should add to the OP that Naniwa will participate.. it's a little worrysome that he's listed as a commentator

Oh and for the fine folks who keep raging about the stream being in Swedish. Learn to read the op, please.

Rakaka <3 Well done, this is gonna be so sick. Seems like Im the only one who would like Swedish commentators for an exchange. Tired of hearing commentators that just love their own voice and never shut up.

Btw Belgium sucks, your not even a real country.

Check out my shortlist, am I missing someone?

In order of importance:

Protoss
NaNiwa
Bischu
SaSe
Seiplo
RunA
DowaQ

Terran
SjoW
ThorZaIN
Jimpo
FuRy
Merz
StarSlayeR

Zerg
Morrow
LaLuSh
Naugrim
MaDFroG
Cytoplasm
ZpuX
Magulina
MeYera

Edit: Hope that international players also will be eligible to compete in case of a rerun, but I can understand that the very targeted demographic from a sponsors viewpoint. English live cast is a must though, as it will generate that much more views and sponsor goodwill.

I would give NaNiwa, MorroW, SjoW and ThorZaIN about equal chances. ThorZaIN is lesser known as he has participates in less tournaments than the others (he's doing school full-time until the end of this spring). He has posted similar results in the events he did participate in.

SaSe is definitely the dark horse, he started playing SC2 in late october/early november but has been very active on Bnet since then. He's recently started to win some online cups as well. To me, other players has either shown constant lower skill-level or very inconsistent overall play.

How the hell did I not see this until now? Anyway, I feel the Swedish scene has come a long way (especially after the unfortunate results at Dreamhack) and there are plenty of Swedish players in the absolute top of the scene. Many names on the list above that could do well in GSL. Comparatively well for being foreigners of course. Maybe one day we'll have foreigners on the same level as the serious Korean players and be able to watch "Elitserien" in SC2, hosted by Peter Jihde. Or maybe not.

Wait, what? I thought the undisputed best player of Sweden was Jinro? He's been tearin' up the GSL for a while...

I feel like Naniwa might deserve it though,. he's been great in the Gosu Coaching League lately!

they're gonna send jinro, who's already in korea and in gsl to korea to be in gsl?

After seeing Thorzain vs Fruitdealer I would not be surprised to see Thorzain taking this.

And just to feed the troll:

Actually; the most swedish thing of all is what you do at the moment; to be a hater of all swedish. Thats just in our culture and its called the Jante Law and is the foundation of any socialistic society; you should never think you are anything special, whether on an individual lvl or national. You are always subordinate to the collective and its tabu and immoral to stand out in anyway, and if you do you will be "hated" on until you get back in line again.

The young generation of swedes are not schooled in this way of thinking though, as the old rural provincial sweden have changed into a more modern worldview; and while the old Jante Law still rules the public space and the media, they are far removed from the thinking of normal people. Just like you seem to be, sir.

Sweden is good country to live in, and have many things to be proud of, and there is aboslutley nothing wrong about beeing a bit patriotic or proud when your countrymen accomplishes something great, as long as you dont get arrogant. Im sure ppl from most other countries thinks the same way about theirs. And thats quite OK.

So dont be a hater and a traditionalist. Just embrace the good things in life and be a lover.

Edit: About rakaka; their expressed goal is to encourage and promote swedish e-sports; so I assume that is why they do a swedes-only tournament.

But its plain stupid they wont cast in english, no real reason at all. I hope they change their minds.
Just another noob

You are surprised that a Swedish E-sports site has a special interest for Swedish players? It's very common for people to have a special interest in your country's success, and that goes for everything, not just E-Sports. Being mad about Rakaka highlighting Swedish players is like being mad about local news-papers highlighting local events.

We already have great international sites like TL and Gosugamers, we don't need Rakaka to do the same thing.

Wow, you must bleed ignorance. Or maybe just not follow sports at all.

I dare you to find any country in the world that can compete with scandinavian sport accomplishments per capita.

It's basically like saying Korea is not a real Starcraft country.

Jamaica, Bahrain, Estonia, New Zealand, Australia, Mongolia.

Ya, you're right. I just listed people likely to get an invite if they ask for it.
Besides MaDFroG, ZpuX studies in the US and is also more or less inactive (can't understand why GosuGamers choses to sponsor a guy who barely practices). Furthermore, Merz is pretty unlikely as he wont be able to stay in Korea because of studies holding him up in Sweden.

Dont be so egoistic, we have a very similar thing in Germany.
But thank god that is somewhat reduced when it comes to sports.

Btw, does anyone have a link to the brackets?
Could not find it anywhere.
