moletrap is not bad for bw. I wonder how good he is at sc2 though.

GL moletrap, can't think of anyone else I'd rather prefer for a commentator who isn't already there.

This kicks ass. Moletrap is fantastic. I got into SC listening to Moletrap, Diggity and Cholera. He has the perfect cadence and pacing to become a fantastic commentator. Might need to cut down on some of his side stories but this is amazing news. He'll be great.

Out of all the SC2GG casters I dislike Moletrap's casting the most because its filled to so much fluff and irrelevant information, this was like during the days when Klazart stopped casting for a while, about the time after Flash won the first GOM invitational. It also annoys me when the caster has little to no experience playing the game at a high level which is what most of the casters at SC2GG are guilty of. SC2 is an opportunity for these former BW casters to step up and actually play the game at a high level as well to supplement their casting, I hope they did that otherwise I am not supporting their casts.

I've listened to this guy, Crota, Askjoshy, Husky, HD... Well to most of the rag-tag youtube casters out there.

Why this guy gets (11k viewers) gets fast-tracked instead of Husky (400k viewers) is completely beyond me. I mean no disrespect to Moletrap, he's a skilled caster and deserves his shot at it like everyone else, but it looks like he got selected simply because he hangs out with the right people in Bnet or TL.

This e-sport is going nowhere fast if decisions like this one are made by small, well-connected groups of old-timers with no eye for the crowdpleasers. He may have his own quirky style and mannerisms, but Husky's starcraft-casting channel has done more to take e-sports mainstream than most people in here.

There's a reason people who don't even play SC2 regularly watch his videos and enjoy them. The guy is a damn good entertainer. Yet, the much less well known Crota gets the casting spot. That's just fishy.

I think that quality != popularity. Perhaps GOM feels, as I do, that Moletrap is more deserving than some other casters with more subscribers because of his deeper knowledge of RTS that can only come from year of experience.

Also, maybe those other guys didn't apply? Who knows.

I've got no idea but I hardly think He'd pass up on fully paid job doing what he already does on youtube all week.

Wrong. Years of experience mean jack. The game is not as complicated as you'd like to think it is. You want to make the e-sport massive and profitable, not a niche, overcomplicated thing for people who take it a little bit too seriously. Essentially, you want to reach out to the average guy, not pander to your trekkies.

You pick the fun guy that makes the game fun to watch, not the brainiac that crunches numbers and looks at you like he's reading the global economy forecast even though he's just casting a computer game. Don't you guys know anything about marketing?

Or maybe he didn't want to go to korea. Just saying, living and working in korea isn't exactly an easy decision for someone with prior engagements.

I don't know if he applied, and I'm not a huge fan, but I agree with you. The likes of Husky/HD/etc. have done a lot for the community, and they seem to be getting shut out of live casting events, which is ridiculous considering what they can bring to them (400k subs anyone?).

They might not be Day9tosis etc. but they are definitely on par with the next tier of casters and already have a huge amount of popularity. If not GSL, then at least NASL or someone else should be trying to utilise these guys to bring the mainstream to SC2.

I don't believe that Husky even applied, because he's supposedly making a good living off of his work for youtube.
And Husky's 400k subs also netted him a good bunch of haters, bitter people with the impression that he sold out without giving his share to the people making the replays he casts, and then there are people who don't like to see less knowledgable casters succeed.
He isn't exactly a non-controversial figure, even tho I completely disagree with this notion. He isn't Buddha, but the his entertaining commentary is top notch and helping esports out a lot, even if people don't want to acknowledge that.

And what's with that mention of Crota? Where did he go? o_o

I fucking love Moletrap!!! And Klazart! I wish Klazart would come back!

edit - Also elaborating, I got into the BW scene via Cholera, Diggity, Moletrap, and Klazart. I haven't seen or watched any of them, except for Diggity, in so long. This is awesome.
