The thing is.. I DID change my background sometime ago using the proper .dds format. The problem i'm having is that it won't change back even using un-modified Battlenet.MPQs... It's like the background I changed is stuck forever. And it's pissing me off cause it's terrible.  SOME1 HELP PLZ ?!?! | ||

Firstly, I've been a member of a vibrant modding community for WoW for a long time, up until I quit playing the game, and although the two games are different and you can't necessarily apply the same rules for one as for the other, for the 2-3 years I was a member, I never once heard of a ban due to non-cheating mods. The general consensus among the modders was as follows: Blizzard will never, ever publicly approve of mods of any kind, for the simple reason that if they do, taking down cheaters will be infinity-x harder to do, but also for the fact that by taking an official stance on the subject, they're opening up a huge can of worms in terms of PG ratings (make "porn" mods, and suddenly Blizzard is responsible for minors watching explicit content, etc). On the underside however, as was stated before, Blizzard in fact opened the game up to the modding community on several occasions. The statement that Blizzard did not look at the content of the MPQ's, however, is incorrect. Blizzard insta-banned anyone who modified certain items. There was a mod out there for awhile which modded these tiny white crystals to be huge black portals, so people could find them easier (they were worth a lot). (These people did indeed receive bans. And everyone, me included, laughed at them.) TLDR: Blizzard will never openly say they are okay with this, because there's a truckload of worm-cans involved. That says nothing about whether they will ban or not. They have in the past gone to great pains to "selectively" ban cheaters while leaving other modders be. | ||

I guess it's somehow possible that you managed to create a shortcut to the terran dds used in the mpq when it was stored in a totally different location or something... seems impossible, but it's all I can think of. Run a search on your computer for 38ce15e9795375b3da85a7a2a5f2e616f9915f34 and delete anything associated with it, and then delete it from the recycle bin. Then download this which has the default dds files for each race. Open the Battle.net.mpq (NOT Battle.net-patch.mpq) with the MPQEditor and then replace the 38ce15e9795375b3da85a7a2a5f2e616f9915f34.dds file there with the one in the download. Make sure you're opening the Battle.net.mpq file located at C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\Battle.net and then going to the folder "Shared" within the mpq. Another possibility is that you were just opening the complete wrong mpq, which is much more likely. | ||

you break your agreement with blizzard, if you modify sc2 files. i believe they dont have time to check every single case in detail. if i were blizzard, i would mass-bann everyone, that messes with the game files. | ||
