UPDATE.There is a thread on EU blizzard forum: http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/1549668714
This message ("you have voice disabled") appears in a little blue box for me every now and then during games. It has done so since beta but I have never really bothered with it. The blue box dissapears when i move my cursor above it. Its anoying to have to drag my cursor above it every 3-4 times that i notice it during every game.
See screenshot: http://img34.imageshack.us/i/screenscreen.jpg/
This screen happens to be from when i observe, but never mind that.
I have no idea why this happens, and im wondering if there are others out there that are experiencing the same thing?
Obviously I have tried enabling voicechat aswell as other adjustments (like changing or disabling push to talk key etc) for my voice settings but with no success. When enabled i actually get another similar message. If i remember correctly that message is something like "click to disable", so i still get an anoying blue box that i have to move my cursor over..
I just want to know if anyone else has this anoying bug (it makes no sense to me so it has to be a bug), and if so, I want to find out how to make it go away.. This is the type of bug you get but never really care enough to complain about, so thats why I think there might very well be others out there suffering from this.

Yeap.
Had it since release.
No idea how to get rid of it though.
|
Yes, I find it pretty annoying too, I don't want to be reminded everytime that I have voice disabled, I fucking know it, I was the one who disabled it!!
|
just mute your mic in-game. i just muted mine since i got the game since i knew i was never going to use it, and i have never had that happen to me once.
you can do so in the upper-right corner on your avatar, there is a little mic button, just click it and it will turn it off.
|
so what? it's informatively telling you that it's disabled in case you're wondering why you cant be heard by the teammates
|
My battery is messed up but still works and it causes the "Your battery level is extremely low" message at the start of every game and there's no way to turn it off. That's pretty annoying too.
|
It's supposed to be a tooltip for the button underneath with the speaker icon, I guess, but coded incredibly bad so that, when you move the mouse away from the button fast enough, it doesn't register the cursor leaving the button and thus stays on forever. Quite ridiculous that the Blizzard programmers made such a mistake really but I guess they had other things to worry about.
And yes, it really annoys me as well, I'm sliding over that button about one or twice per game and then it distracts me so much that I have to go back and scroll over it again slower to make it disappear.
Somebody should mention this to Blizzard and they should be able to fix it with about two lines of code assuming they wrote their interface code in a sensible manner.

Since the voicechat is disabled there is no option to mute. Nevertheless I have already tested what you suggest (voicechat being activated but muted), and i still get a blue box but with a different message that i must move my cursor over.
I just now tested how i could get the blue box to appear. The only way i could do so 100% of my attempts was by swiftly clicking up and down the friends list (located just to the right of the speaker icon), then holding the cursor for another 0.7 seconds or so above it (the friends list icon) and then moving it above the speaker icon (not that this is of any greater significance, i just find random stuff like this amusing ). Any other way and it only appeared on random occasions and not so frequently at all, but still often enough to appear several times during a game.
Since i posted the OP i have been paying extra attention to the issue and i think i safely can say that the message appears from time to time without the cursor even being close to the speaker icon. When it does so seems very random though.
Anyways, now that its confirmed that this is something many of us are affected by i guess all that remains is to make blizzard aware of this. I think the NA forum is the forum where you can get blizzards attention the easiest. So if anyone with a NA account would care to post about this that would be greatly appreciated.

perhaps your hitting tilde on accident? it happened to me a lot but that was the reason why. Ive now changed the key to town camera and it hasnt happened.

What sc2-function has this tilde key? We dont have the same keyboards (im from EU and i got one with weird letters), so I must know the function of it or else i dont know what key your talking about.
|
Yeah this appears without reason periodically , ingame , i have it disabled of course bcause i don't need it but it's a popup bug

I see. Well no, i have no hotkey for that function (i removed it, its blank). And i have had this bug before i removed the hotkey aswell as after, so the problem does not lie there.
|
This annoys the hell out of me too. I always thought it was happening because I was pushing the push-to-talk button by mistake, or because my opponent was saying something to me but I have it disabled so I can't hear the guy.
|
Yea I got this problem too. It's not a huge deal but nonetheless, annoying to see it pop up when I'm trying to play a game.
|
I've had this popup every game since beta aswell. It has to be one of the most retarded informative popups in the history of the PC. In second place would be the Player x is slowing down the game.
Please bliz make me able to remove these 2 unnecessary popups. Don't just move them to an even more annoying place on my screen (top middle).
|
Have it too, very annoying once you actually notice it every time.
|
It happens to me also.
For the record, I'm not using the in-game voice chat at all, ie. it's disabled and I'm not going to enable it. I used to think it was caused by me accidentally pressing tilde, but I have remapped it since 1.2 and it still appears every now and then.

aaragrhgrhgrhgrhghghhhhhhh......................
I hate it

It's about as useful as the game telling you every five minutes that you have a keyboard and a mouse connected, and that you're currently on the internet.
And it's annoying as hell. It's been there since the beta, it's been mentioned in forums countless times and it still appears seemingly randomly.

No, it can happen totally unrelated to the tilde key. Please read earlier posts in thread.
|
So nobody knows how to get rid of this? I have the same problem
|
Someone with a NA account go write on blizzard forum about this. Many of us obviously have this issue and blizz needs to fix it with some simple coding. It has been here since beta and it isnt going anywhere unless we whine some.

I have the same bug and my tilde key is actually remapped to zero...so....
Tbh I got used to it, kinda the same I got used to the annoying "xyz is slowing down the game" insert. I mean, "thank you" bnet 2.0 for telling me that, but wtf nothing I could about it, no? Thankfully the location of this insert got changed, previously it could pretty much screw up major battles.
|
This really bugs me as well... I hope blizz can change it. It's so annoying and always distracts me. I never have idle scv's in game, I'm always aware of notifications and such, so when this comes up it screws up my flow in game so bad.
|
Why does it tell you who is slowing down the game? so you can abuse them? i dont' see the benifit! i guess in 1% or less of all cases the player can fix the problem
|
|
this is another one of those little annoying things blizzard put in that everyone hates - -d.

so the other obs/players can tell that person to gtfo out of the game.
|
Ok, so the EU bnet forum post has about 20 reads and no response after a few days.
I know many of us have this bug and it wont go away unless we whine some. If people from EU would go there and comment and if someone with a NA account would care to post about this on the NA forum that would be greatly appreciated.
|
This is still a bug, and affecting me the last weeks or so.. any work-around? Really annoying T.t
|
Hey, I still get this bug. It is so annoying. Whenever I accidently right click the 'DISABLED' mic button it comes up with options and shit that i can't get rid of unless i go into them and then click cancel. It's a very frustrating bug.
|
Does anyone have a fix for this? The battlenet thread seems to be ignored by blues, not enough whining I guess

Yes I've had this happen MULTIPLE TIMES during big fights.
This issue seems VERY common, and it has existed forever. But not enough people complain about it. It is rarely brought up, then fades out. I wonder if blizzard has even acknowledged it?
Most annoying thing in the game IMO
|
We should start a Project Awareness for this. Damn!
|
yeah i got it to, since beta.
|
I got it as well, don't know where it comes from. I thought I was hitting some hotkey accidentally.
|
On October 14 2011 20:38 Grubby wrote: We should start a Project Awareness for this. Damn!
yeah start another one lol...
this happens when you disable voice in the options, just enable it and then mute everything =/ though i would love to just be able to fully disable it one day...
whats funny though is the thread got a blue response. saying that this thread is old, and locked it.... what an idiot =/
|
we need to voice our opinion as loud as we did in the oeperation namechange thing. this has bothered me since the game came out, but i never bothered making a thread about it yet. it's time for this to be fixed, same as the german campaign bug which got finally fixed with 1.4.0. <.<
|
Hmm, I remember getting that, but I actually completely forgot about it because I haven't had it for quite a long while... Not sure how I got rid of it, but I have the thing muted next to my portrait and I remember I haven't always had that, so that could be it (I do believe someone said earlier in the thread he had tried that though). If it's not that, I sadly can't help.

Mouseover your cursor to microphone icon, and this message will be hidden

I've had the same thing happen to me since release, however it is not nearly as bad as you are describing. It only happens like once a day at the most. gl fixing it

On October 14 2011 20:38 Grubby wrote: We should start a Project Awareness for this. Damn! I almost wish somebody would create & actively manage a public feature request & bug database for SC2 that could be accessed through community sites like TL. Maybe Blizzard would then have more incentive in PR sense to fix things & dedicate some development resources especially for feature requests requiring only small amount of development time.
Items in the database could be sorted e.g. based on popularity and/or severity levels. Item descriptions should also include Blizzard's official statements regarding them with links. I am sure many promises made by Blizzard have already been forgotten by the general public as Blizzard has since been silent regarding them. For example little before release of SC2 it was publicly stated that they were aiming to release cross regional licenses few months after the release.

I just noticed that a blizzard customer service guy has responded regarding this issue. http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/2151663226
"This is indeed a known issue. Our developers are looking into it and it will be corrected as soon as possible.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused."
This was in 08/06/2011 though. Atleast we now know they are aware of it.
|
If I recall right, they allready said that in beta, Ovi... :/
|
This is still an issue for me.. is it fixed for everybody else or why has this thread stopped getting bumped? This is actually becoming a huge problem for me... did anybody figure out how to fix it?
|

I've fixed that by moceovering icon with speaker
|
I found the secret solution after many countless hours of that shit distracting me and losing me games.
ENABLE voice but turn off "talking" and set the volume to 0.
Does anyone even use this anyways? I've never ever seen it used.
