I know there is a thread where HollowLord post his Tastosis Quotes videos (http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=181842) but I didn't want to keep posting links to my videos on his thread. I really liked his Tastosis Quotes videos so I decided to do my own. I am in no way to trying to replace him, I just wanted to try it myself. I really enjoyed doing it so I made more videos. Please check out HollowLord's videos, they are awesome!
Latest Video: Tasteless and Artosis (Tastosis) Highlights - October
Kidding. Awesome vids, very funny. Some video problems in the first one but I'm sure you already know about that. The link is broken, you link to part 1 twice instead of part one and part two.
Love it, these are so hilarious. During live casts the funny segments aren't as prevailent as when you see them here in rapid succession. Sheds a different perspective on how fun they can be and hopefully; will be able to catch these moments better during a live cast and enjoy them even more.
It's also very noticable the difference it makes with the dedicated observer. Tasteless is able to focus a ton better it seems and that helps Artosis aswell in that they both can play off eachother better. It's so high level.
I liked it when you put in the Dragonball Z picture with the sound effect. I think you might be on to something there.
Nice job! This is exactly the kind of highlights vids I wanted - quick snappy short cuts. Good work...
I wasn't a fan of the random Dragonball Z image & sound FX unlike the poster above however. I thought it broke the flow of what was happening.
Have listened to all of them and am listening to them again because I enjoyed them so much. Trying not to laugh out loud too much at work while doing so
It has been a long time coming but Tastosis Quotes number 5 is out!
I won't be able to finish Season 4 video compilation but I have a new plan for the March season. I'm going to try and do a weekly video. These will be shorter, probably with the best quotes of the week rather than all of the ridiculous noises and funny things they say. I hope they will be as enjoyable to everyone and continue to make you all smile
The first video of the GSL March series is up! I plan to put up a video each week highlighting some of the best tastosis quotes of the week.
I hope everyone enjoys!
EDIT: Their may be Copyright issues with the song in the Grack Tribute at the end of the video. Might have to swap the audio to make it available for everyone!
yep, unfortunately the video is not accessable from germany T_T So if you could edit it in some way that would be awesome!
I'm going to re-release this video without the copyright song in it, so everyone can enjoy the video, will be out tomorrow morning - Thursday, March 3, 2011.
There was this one moment which I can't remember when or what it was but it made Tasteless laugh and giggle for a real good long time, I think he actually said it was the best thing Artosis had ever said on air or smth like that, anyone remember?
Hah, i can't help but watch these videos with a constant smile on my face waiting to burst into laughter. Tasteless talking about bowling, and Artosis long story about cheating his friends, hilarious!
These are cool. The only problem I see if that some of the clips just rush past one another and I do not have enough time to hear the epicness of the end of one quote before another kicks in.
Thank you everyone for your kind words, I really appreciate the support. I'm almost onto the RO4 in the GSL July, next video should be out sometime in the next week or so.

I love it; it keeps me on my toes and gives it a kind of deadpan delivery. All of Tasteless's ladder points jokes are fucking hilarious thanks to this.
So much fun! Even if I already saw these back when, it's great to be reminded of all those laughing moments. Many thanks for doing this, please keep at it! <3
Sorry for the wait everyone, been having encoding issues on the videos. That's all fixed now. I bring you Tasteless and Artosis (Tastosis) Highlights - August http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz4qHBzbZrU
oh wow, I just say the July/August highlights, so damn hilarious. Tastosis is without a doubt the best casting duo out there. If eSports keeps growing like it is then I hope these 2 get paid accordingly.
Am I the only one that finds all this useless banter annoying?
Watching the Code S yesterday was really bad. Mechanical pencils? Money eye sockets? Nestea jumping out of an airplane with a shark and a tiger? Riding into battle on a giraffe?
I mean, I'm trying to organize a barcraft equivalent at my place with some guys from work and that kind of commentary is just embarrassing when I'm trying to show that competitive gaming can be taken as seriously as regular sports.
Quick question, while we all know no other professional sport commentary contains idiocies like that, do the Korean casters on GOM also do this? I'm thinking not.
A few jokes here and there is fine, but I'm sad to say that I'm starting to even prefer other casters that spend down time at start of matches to talk about the players, past matches they've had and the strats they used, etc more than Tastosis.
I guess maybe I'm just too old (I'm 40) and thus not the target audience of this comedic stuff (i.e. 12).
Just stop talking about make believe stuff and just cast the game. Please.

casters like tastosis, day9 and so on are one of the reasons why sc2 is a far superior esport. they make even boring games entertaining with their conversations/jokes/etc.

Hey, I love a joke or two as much as the next guy. I.e. make the cast enjoyable but them talking about hating Scooby Doo for 5 minutes instead of talking about the game I'm trying to watch and understand in more depth is just boring.

i too remember the stories my friends would tell me of the mythical mechanical pencils when i was younger.
I could describe in greater detail why I just spent 5 minutes on the floor laughing, but I think this summarizes it fairly well.
Also, Limech, just because you don't enjoy that humor personally doesn't mean you have to insult everybody who enjoys it by saying it's 12-year old level -_-'
I for my part really enjoyed the last casting, I laughed multiple times in that cast, specially with the Nestea jokes. I can understand while some would prefere serious analysis of the game but I think you'll be quickly bored, don't forget that when they are joking you get to see the game and the minimap and the production tab so I don't really know if talking about what you see is important.

when theres nothing going on theres nothing going on. what you wanna hear? oh look hes building an scv. hey look at this: nothings happening. most sc2 games simply arent that action packed, you will see 2 people macroing up until they have a big army and then engage and i dont need someone to tell me that the game is boring, i need someone to make it enjoyable again.

Just get off your high horse lol, there are plenty of other casters that cater ur needs, let Tastosis do their thing, you know the thing that the majority of the SC2 viewers actually love to watch?

Couldn't disagree with you more. Tastosis are fucking amazing. Besides, in most games there isn't a great deal to say for the first 5 minutes or so anyway, I'd rather have them saying funny stuff than being 'serious'. The fact that they are genuinely fun to watch coupled with their insight and passion for the game, no other casters come close.
Particularly liked the analogy of a scouting scv running up a ramp past a stalker and sentry to the US military shooting a paper boy running up some stairs. So good! xD
Sorry back to your rant, I think you answered you're own question - yes, you're too old. I'm 23, they're brilliant.
I like humor in the casting. It's just lately, they are trying too hard. It just goes on and on. I'd like a bit more shift towards serious analysis. Not just that, just a bit a shift more back to it.

Talk about the players, their past matches, their mindset, past strats used, provide statistics on their past performance, etc.
Sure, make a joke or two if you run out of things to say but prepare before the match with interesting topical things to say instead of preparing questions like "what kind of animal would you ride into battle with?".
Again, I like Tastosis a lot. I just don't like it when they go down that path. I mean, "What up! I AM NESSTTTEAAAA!!!" was pure gold.

I agree, and I'm surprised more people aren't annoyed by it. Jokes should be made in between analysing and describing what is happening, not the other way around. I was most annoyed the other day when they were talking about Scooby Doo characters and rhino sex instead of things which were actually happening in the game. Hearing Mr Bitter and Rotterdam argue and discuss the game during casts is actually really refreshing. I still love Tastosis (particularly Artosis) but sometimes they take the jokes too far, and it detracts from the games IMO.

There are always things to talk about. I remember the end of HSC3 and having NightEnd, MC, Grubby, HasuObs, Rotterdam, ToD and whoever else cast the PvPs at the end was awesome, I learned a lot and they made the games more interesting. I also recall shortly after that MC played Huk in GSL, and in one 4 Gate vs 4 Gate game, they were just discussing random crap until the first Stalkers came out, which prompted Tasteless to say something along the lines of 'now that something is actually happening we can go back to the game'. Actually there was a lot to talk about, and slight deliberate variations between both of their builds that weren't discussed at all.

Bootleg, awesome job and I hope to see your quotes from September. Actually, I can't wait till I see the video of October, yesterday Code S was so epic.
SC2 is boring as hell, for the first 6 mins of a game. These two make it fun. I think its great they can keep the banter up when they are casting for up to 5 hours. Cant wait to hear more funky qoutes

I happen to agree with you, being around your age group I do see a lot of their jokes and such quite juvenile and at a grade-school level. However, you have to pull back and take into account the larger picture of eSports in general.
I'll be willing to bet that most fans of eSports are quite young, like the players themselves. Most all being in the age range of teens to mid-twenties. Remember when you were that age? It was quite surprising the things you found funny. For such a majority, Tastosis hits the spot. Our sense of humor has matured with age, but eSports has not really grown up yet.
Keeping this in mind I enjoy the games and do laugh at a joke or two. Tastosis has their own style and I do appreciate it along with the other GSL casters (I prefer Wolf myself, though he doesn't have a good co-caster yet).
I'm 20 years old and still think they are hillarious i wouldn't say the jokes are at grade-school level. Only in the sense that they kind of go back and enjoy being childish and pointless but realy realy funny :D ! In TvTs i sometimes don't even watch the whole game but play minecraft while listening to tastosis.

Some times they strike gold with their jokes, but not often enough to justify for some of the stuff thats getting broadcasted. I dont know if i just pay more attention to it or if it has actually changed, but i feel that tastosis isnt quite as professional about their casting these days as they used to.
Random banter between games is one example - even understandable one - but more annoying example would be the early game: "Another TvT. Artosis, have you ever seen movie X blablaba..." "nothing much to say here, its PvP, we haveto wait and see what hapens. Now, artosis, ask me a random question that has nothing to do with game, isnt particularly interesting and is extremely unprofessional and feels out of place in the highest tier of starcraft2 play" and so forth.
Listen, id rather you showed me map, gave hints how to play on it, what to expect from the players, all this stuff that is related to the game. Maybe joke here and there, but even Jerry fuckin' Seinfield would run out of jokes if he was trying to be funny 4 hours straight several days a week!
That said, i still enjoy GSL and GSTL. I just wish Tastosis would consentrate more in game.
The reason I love Tastosis as compared to any other casters is the fact that it feels like I'm watching the games with my buddies. I've outgrown the serious, non-stop strategical analysis and don't really enjoy meaningless play by play. I can see what is going on, I understand the game well enough. But if they see something new, or exciting, an "oh! this is so smart!" Artosis moment, they cover it immediately.
Tasteless and Artosis are willing to say "well this game is bad..." just as I do with my friends, and they tell jokes to fill time and make games more enjoyable to watch. Analyzing every move gets old, and is quite boring. I don't comment on MKP's marine control the 100th time I've seen him stutter step, but if hes got a 20 kill Banshee, or MVP tech swaps to BC's I'm going to say something.
I think Limech brings up a good point that they do get a bit carried away sometimes. I still think Tasteosis are the best commentors, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. I believe over time there might be a shift to a more professional manner of casting games such as Mr Bitter's casts

I didn't watch code S that day so I don't know if the jokes were bad or not. What I do know is that humor in casting is one thing I think "ordinary" sportcasters could learn from people like Tastosis. Most sportcasters are really boring. Fun is not same as unprofessional. Fun = more entertainment and makes things more watchable. But yeah, there are limits. Except if you're 2GD, him you just unleash.
I kind of agree with one thing, but I'll take it one step further. I don't like that they talk to the audience as if we are all nerdy little kids living at home with our mothers. They do that way too much for my taste. I'm pretty sure that's not how the demographics of the audience actually is.
You're 40, I'm 27. We're not unique at all. The viewers are a lot more adult than perceived. Regular people with regular jobs, living in regular homes having regular interests. It's not that weird people like CBS and random people out of the loop stigmatises esports, when top community-members does the same to its fanbase. Not really something I worry or care much about, just mentioning it since the door was opened.

I think the style they use is awesome and Im sure if they needed to be a bit more professional they could. If you think about it they have done some really great casting without being silly like they often are.
Typically when I read comments like Limech's my NeeeEEeEEEEeeErd alert goes off, but Nestea's games this week were (And I dread the day SC2 casting goes serious(because it will)) even too much for me. The best player in the league was playing and I don't think they talked about the game once during the Duel Sight set, in fact Artosis waited until during one of Leenock's games to analyse the failed mech push that ended that game.

I think they're goofing around at the GSL more than at other events. At the PPSL for instance their casting was much more 'serious and professional'.
