According to SEA blog post for the SEA server it will be top 2% as Master League: http://sea.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/116151 Whattt noooo  lolWAIT YOU GUYS READ THAT WRONG. It says 2% of ALL PLAYERS!!! Not Diamond only! So since (to my understanding) the leagues are split evenly in terms of ACTIVE players (diamond is actually like 12% in NA because 40%* of total players are like inactive in bronze, silver, etc.), this would mean that 2% is actually like 16.66% of Diamond players. This is, of course, using numbers from NA though. The Master's distribution may differ from each server. *if 20% of active players is 12% of all players (which makes up diamond), then the total amount of active players is 12*5 = 60%, so 40% is "inactive" Edit: May be I should actually finish reading the post on the sc2 bnet site xD Yeah it says 2% of all active players. So it won't be 16.66%. Anyways, top 10% of Diamond is sweet! That will be so much easier than the top 5% Diamond as was previously said by David Kim/Blizzard. | ||

A: The top 2% of players from the Diamond League (as determined by our system) will be promoted to the Master league starting with patch 1.2. Apparently the GM league will be special and will have some additional features. In that case Blizz will need some time to implement them. | ||

For example, in total there is 100000 players, 1000 are in diamond. 2% in diamonds is 20 players where 2% of all players is 2000 players. | ||

For example. If it was top 2% of all players, then it would be 2% out of 100%. If it was top 2% of active players, it would be like top 2% of 60%. In both cases Diamond is fixed at 20% of all active players, so no the amount in top 2% if it was all players would decrease. But luckily, Masters is now 10% of Diamond  | ||

The answer from the question beforehand states: "Only the top 2% of active players in each region will be elevated to the Master League." The answer before that from the question before states: "The Master League is designed to provide a more competitive arena for the top 2% of StarCraft II players in a region" But that question's answer says "The top 2% of players from the Diamond League (as determined by our system) will be promoted to the Master league starting with patch 1.2". "Only the top 2% of active players in each region..." "...top 2% of StarCraft II players in a region" "The top 2% of players from the Diamond League...". | ||

Q: Why are you introducing the Master League? A: The Master League is designed to provide a more competitive arena for the top 2% of StarCraft II players in a region, and to help recognize the talents of the most skilled StarCraft II players. Q: How do I get into the Master League? A: Only the top 2% of active players in each region will be elevated to the Master League. So really who knows, though I tend to think top 10% of all active diamond players is a reasonable figure, ESPECIALLY considering they still plan to introduce the grandmaster league derived from that. | ||
