RootKiwikaki - Most creative protoss there is and he's also a really good player. In addition to this the ROOT clan really needs the publicity since it might help them get some sponsors which they really deserve.

FanaticFenix - One of the most entertaining terrans to watch. He's aggressive but not as ridiculous as many of Terrans in the GSL. He's not as gimmicky.

LiquidTyler - He might be the most intelligent player out there. His builds are really solid thought out. He has a good mix of styles and is not to cheesy although he does throw in some fun cheeses at times.

EGIncontrol - Almost qualified for last season. Really good player especially his PvZ which is just amazing to watch. He hasn't had the greatest results but skill wise he's definitely at the top outside of Korea. Also his got a personality which just outshines all of the ones I've seen in GSL would be nice to see someone who actually isn't afraid of the camera.

Most deserving when it comes to giving to the community
+ Show Spoiler +

Day[9] - Just for the fun I don't know how good he is but sure would give you a lot of publicity and also think he could preform quite well if he has been playing a lot recently, but I doubt that he has been playing. Anyways he just deserves it for being the biggest SC profile in the west and has given so much to the community, same goes for LiquidNazgul so I guess it's a tie between those two for fifth place.

I really can't think of any players more deserving than my top 4. Also I think they would bring a lot of fun play styles to the tournament. There are of course others who might be considered but I really can't think of anyone who'd be more enjoyable to watch and more deserving of the spot. All of them have unique play styles which aren't to gimmicky and they are if you ask me the most competent foreigners who haven't qualified for GSL.

This shouldn't be a popularity contest, it should be solely based on skill.

And who judges skill?

That said it should partly be a popularity contest. GSL wants viewers, no? Look at TLO, he wasn't the best western player when he went to Korea, but damn did people watch and love his games.

But TLO wasn't invited to go to Korea or guaranteed a place in the GSL. His team sent him there at their own expense, and anyone can go like that. He still had to qualify himself, and he proved that he can do that consistently so he was, in fact, one of the best foreign players (and still is).

Whoever makes the final decision on who to invite should take it upon himself or themselves to judge skill based on performance. Sure, they may get it wrong, and some people won't be happy about the choice, but it is the only way. Having it decided by a popular vote or a ladder rank (as they already announced) is just dodging responsibility.

Besides, if they are inviting people based on popularity and views they generate, they are doing it wrong already. If that's what they want to maximize, they should kick out all the random Code S Koreans and keep only Boxer, Nada, July, MC, FruitDealer, MarineKing and a few more then fill the rest with foreigners from all parts of the world where SC2 is somewhat popular. But that would hardly make it a serious competition.

Duravi: the problem with this is that Europeans don't play MLG's and stuff much... so to you they're big, but to me... there aren't too many europeans participating there, i can't really tell.

An ambitious player should be able to travel to major events regardless of where they are. Nobody is going to prove themselves by playing ladder, online cups and local tournaments.

MLG are major live events that probably had the highest concentration of quality in the foreigner scene. European players (Liquid guys, Socke, Sjow I think was at Raleigh too) did participate at one or more events and that is how they gain recognition as top players. Besides, not all major events are USA-based. IEM Cologne and Dreamhack were accessible to European players.

Youre talking like that USA is the home nation for foreigner players, thats so not true. Why not put it like this: Before US players can really get reckognition they should move to germany and play EPS/ESL and compete in the Go4SC2 EU monthly finals? Sometimes it feels like people from their respective region talks a bit out of their ass, not saying you do. Which is why i feel its retarded to ask us^^

I'm actually European, but I do agree with your last sentence (it was my whole point). =P

About the USA thing, I wouldn't say it's the "home nation", but it's a prominent centre for SC-related events. Just like Korea is the Starcraft capital of the world, whether we like it or not (and I personally don't).

To put it short, whichever country/region/place consistently organizes the largest live events with largest prize pools will be considered more relevant than the others. Top North American players traveled to Cologne, Dreamhack and even Finland for this recent tournament. Top European players traveled to Dallas for the MLG. Top European and American players already traveled to Korea for the GSL (to try out at least), they didn't need an "invite". You have to find a way to go to all the live events you can if you're serious about your career and want recognition as a top professional player.

Code A invites are just technical convenience due to the Code A qualifications depending largely on Korean ladder rank. It's not an excuse to plug unproven or inferior players. Players which get the invite should really stand out from the rest in terms of actual success, and at the moment only Huk and Fenix objectively do (out of those that are interested in going).

Please make an even with 32 invitational players. And invite the players who had good results. Take all 3 MLGs, IEM, DH. You can do this online, and also make it double elimination with BO3. One weekend is enough. No need for prize (only if sponsor will be eventually - I guess that you can take one of the 4 spots should be enough). You also can take the overall results for the remaining spots from Go4SC overall top. The first 20 place are really the first 20 players in europe. This event would be the best, also the players must want to go to korea, maybe not all of them wants this.

Anyhow if i have to choose 5 they would be:

1. Sen - have really good results and a really good play style. I guess he could have participate to Code a elimination together with TLO but he refused. So he is mi first suggestion (if he want to go)

2. Fenix - One of the best terrans i guess outside Korea. He has a really good TvT and a very controlling game style, really nice skill.

3. Huk - we missed him a lot from the NA/EURO scene lately, cause he is training in Korea. But specially for this he would have a good chance to qualify to code A. (GSL 3 he was also in the preliminary final - without any korean training)

4. And I`ll give the last spot from one of the TOP euro players. I guess here is harder to decide because there are a lot more tournaments in EURO then NA. All of the top players are pretty similar. Morrow is one of the most dedicated players in EU but he somehow didn`t manage to win nothing lately, but he can concentrate if the pot is so big. Naniwa again if he want he can play great, and he showed that he is fully dedicated to this game, if he can stay serious for a while he would deserve a spot for the next month - but not for this. Anyhow my pick is TLO. He started to train again in the last weeks and he has the experience for Korea, though i guess he is not the best EU player.

5.If Sen don`t want to go i guess KiwiKaki should be also there. Really strong and constant protoss, also has some experience in Korea.

Nice dedication, BratOk deserves it as well. I just hope that Kiwikaki isn't going to have a chance taken away because a thousand russians create accounts just to make 1 post and leave on TL.

But it is a lot of people from Russia and the CIS have learned about this site ^ ^
