At least teams like Lazarus have some respect T.T Are you shitting me? Any team willing to support and create opportunities for players to pursue their dreams should be commended. That includes doing the legwork of securing and providing financial support. Yeah, you are right it is commendable. I don't disagree with that, but when the amount of money these players can reasonably make off of tournaments per month at the moment compared to their salary on this team is considerably lower, it is a pretty reasonable statement to make that they should be putting this money elsewhere. I have to totally disagree here. Banking your whole lively hood on winning tournaments is not a very good thing. This will allow players stability to focus on SCII and SCII only. I wouldn't call 600$ a month stability. Well I had no idea what the salary was, but where I am from, $600 a month > $0 a month, although that number is sort of low for a Forex company. I'm just talking in general here too, not specifically to this situation, but in general. Salaried players needs to be the norm going into 2011. I am not sure what you mean on sort of low for a forex company? As far as I am aware, any players in FXO were not getting a salary to start with, and without turning this thread into a slagging match, which it potentially could become. Our offers were higher than other teams at the time. Having the 'highest' salaries for this level of play (anyone who isn't boxer really) is something commendable. You do not enter a market that is paying peanuts and say "here guys, be millionaires". Of course, if it so happens FXOpen e-Sports grows accordingly, there is a possibility that would happen in the future. You should consider our venture as a business being backed by an already successful business. Rather than someone trying to gain clientele from sponsoring someone for a few shequels. Our vision is different to what is currently the norm, and this is how we were able to obtain such names in our team. As far as I am aware, no one came to FXOpen e-Sports for money. They came because of our vision. At the same time, no toes have been stepped on, no corners have been cut, and no tears have been shead. One of the bigger issues holding e-sports back, is the negativity from the broader community. e-Sports should be no different to Rugby, NFL, NHL etc. But rather the same situation. You go where you see you can make the most of your abilities. I hope this clarifies any concerns or uncalled for hate.
great post and dont listen to that skyhigh kid. It's not like SC2 teams are being made and picked up at a fast pace. We need more new teams to invigorate the current scene. And yes, if we can get SC2 to the style and professionalism of the NFL, then things will get beautiful.
I loveed the peanut line. Good one.

While I have the utmost respect for the players and I'm happy as always that a company is taking interest in eSports, it's a bit depressing as FXOpen is a well-documented scam site. At the very least, it's been repeatedly accused as fraudulent based on Google research.
Of course, if it's not, disregard this. It just worries me as a search for "fxopen scam" leads to hundreds of pages of accusations.

hmunkey, if you have concerns about our company, feel free to contact me.
I do not quite understand your 'well documented scam' accusation.
But yeh, if something is of concern, let me know. I will be more than happy to help where I can.

for any of you who doubt about FXOpen

Hope to see Glade in GSL next year, he's doing decently on the KR ladder so he should be able to participate in A-class and do well and hopefully get S-class.

Most of the so-called scams are by amateurs who know just little about the business they are into but want to make fast money. They don't even know what "requote" means (similar to latency in games) and when they see requote, they cry.

Any well-known business will at some-time or another have its name used in scamming or phishing schemes. That's the way these swindles work. It doesn't have any bearing on the integrity of the business itself.

I don't think I've ever played optikzero in a game where he hasn't cheesed me... Interesting selection of players, especially considering this team has the money to steal guys
No idea how the australian players are, never played on Sea so we'll see..
|
I dont think I have seen optikzero truly cheese anyone Except maybe a proxy pylon here and there.
|
Well then I find it shocking that you would recruit players without watching any of their games :D

Sounds awesome - really great for esports to get another team on the scene. Crazy seeing sheth's name there after being with ROOT.

Um you don't watch tournament games do you? Optik hasn't really been cheesing in tournaments. I know awhile back he used to be pretty cheesy (its all i saw him do too) but he stopped and learned to play straight up macro and knows how to do cheese good as well. You should watch his games rather then assume he still only cheeses.
