I have one request - can we have the option to designate a worker to serve as a scout? Say as part of a goal is to relegate a worker to go scouting at the 14 food mark. The assumption would be that the scout would not come back to mine minerals or gas.

The program doesn't have to actually account for what he IS doing, just that he has costs and doesn't generate income.
On another note, a not-more-than and not-less-than feature would help a lot. Examples:
/< 10 marines, so it will look for a build that achieves 10 marines but will prefer any build with equal or greater efficiency that achieves more than 10 marines.
/> 0 refineries, 0 engineering bays, etc so it doesn't even attempt builds that use things you already know you don't want/need.

now you can only add it manually via the Build Order Tester (Edit -> Build Order) an option in the configuration form will be added shortly (so it can be used by the Build Order Finder)
in the mean time i'd like to know which format you'd like to export/import build orders ?
So please tell me what you think

I haven't kept up on all the output format discussions going on, but I would be content with:
• allow copy+past of the build order with income/supply/building count etc etc etc, whichever ones a user selects • an option to save build orders, as well as some means of comparing them (so the human can notice where improvements can be made and do so manually)
Don't know what to say as far as importing, but I'll try out the new version in awhile. Great work!

Carbon hasn't implemented this yet, but it looks like he will be using .xml files. It would be great if you could import files between the two!

Yeah, that's what I was planning to do, although I was expected to use the internal IDs to keep the file a bit smaller. Using text would make it more portable though (and probably safer in case the IDs change anyway).

we can both agree on common ids (numbers or string) so our users will be happy  keep me posted on your changes i'll keep using my formats but will add yours too

You guys should really try to combine... with the manpower between both of you it would be amazing.. granted competition is what keeps these getting better and better.. so either way I am happy haha (= great work you two.

Just curious, how realistic are the times posted by the optimizer? Does it account for mining time lost by traveling to locations to build the structures such as when trying to wall off? I understand that its nearly impossible to achieve the exact times shown due to human factors but should I expect to add maybe 20~30 seconds because of that or does the program compensate for this? I mean even if you don't wall off theres still fractions of seconds time lost due to traveling which add up over the build right?

Thumbs up for the effort. Right now my only source of build orders to to steal from pro replays. Programs like these kinds gives us a good starting point.
Question: Does this take into account the addl income from a fast expo when i say 2 Command centers.
Also it seems to make only 15 to 16 scvs in all my runs.
EDIT: Nvm , found the auto make scvs and mule call down in the Edit > configuration section.
