Also, how does blizzard base their ranking of divisions? For example, how do they know Kelerchian X-Ray/Medic Mu/Medivac Alamo are "better" division than others? Is this ranking based on MMR? If Blizzard can somehow quantify the rigor of each division, does that mean it's harder to gain points in an "S-class" division vs an A- or B-class?
I decided to make a new thread about it so it didn't get lost: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=169830
I have some guesses as to how it ranks divisions. It's got to be by MMR where if you're at a certain MMR level you'll get put in an S-Rank division, or A-Rank, or whatever. It doesn't really mean it's harder to gain points, just that your points are worth more. Those are good questions though. I think revealing the tiers answers a lot but also opens up more questions.

Thanks, I'll take a read. But if Blizz is selectively placing you in different diamond divisions based off of MMR it basically refutes what they said during beta when they claimed that all divisions within a league are equal. I thought they placed players indiscriminately in divisions until they reached their maximum capacity.
Medic Mu and Medivac Alamo have many big names in NA, but I assumed this was the case because those were the first players to have laddered heavily to be placed in a diamond division, and therefore were placed in their divisions together by coincidence.

That's what we all thought (me included), but they've actually been pretty clear in their message that divisions can't be directly compared. This completely explains why.

Which is fine considering their ranking positions. But then I saw OrgA also beat Zelniq (30s), and he only received 10 points...why is that the case if this list is based solely on MMR. Who or what are you responding to? Nobody said that the list is based on MMR. It isn't based on MMR. As a few people have said in this thread already, it's based on points adjusted for strength of division. And even though you're correct in arguing that the list isn't based on MMR, your evidence doesn't support it. Point change after a ladder match isn't based solely on MMR. Your point change is based on your opponent's MMR against your actual points and your opponent's point change is based on your MMR against your opponent's actual points.
It was an original question not related to any asked before in this thread
I wasn't aware of the strength of division aspect of this list. I PMed you Tyler if you could care to help explain the finer points of division strength as well as points earned from a match. Thanks
