T_T Have some mercy on me Mani and not ban me.

What does bother me is that people often view looks as a higher priority in a female gamer rather than skill. It must be tough to be a female in e-sports. Glad to see that guys do not have to live up to this double standard.

First thing I thought was "not this dumbass from the IEM Cologne" but it's actually a good interview, you are clearly a lot better when speaking in german than english.

Interesting interview and it's good to get more girls involved in general but I can't see how good she is going to be when spreading herself over so many different activities, since starcraft is a game that really does hinge on the amount of practice you do.

He's pretty awesome actually. He shoutcasted a tournament with Demuslim from his house and they were so drunk at the end. They were trying to pratice english casting. It was sooo funny.

And this topic has brought forth some terrible posts. I was going to highlight one of the TL streamers that is a girl but there is no way I would wish this objectification on anyone.

At first, I didn't want to read this thread because I though it was going to be the same "LOOK, a GIRL places Starcraft" type of thread that obviously a lot of posters were expecting. Instead, it was a really great interview. Take did a great job, and it's clear watching this that he only seemed a little trollish ("let's not talk about imbalance") during IEM Cologne because he's less comfortable in English than in German. He recognized that being a female gamer is unusual in the interview but didn't make too big a deal out of it. Pretty well done.

And she really does seem like one of those incredibly successful people, where just by their willpower they can accomplish what they set their mind to. It'd be pretty cool to see more female gamers at the top level, especially since the athletic differences in men and women shouldn't matter in an esports setting. I think it's mostly just a male-dominated area for cultural reasons right now, and it'd be cool to see that begin to change.
Weird, last time I checked the UN said you need to have at least 200 APM and be rainbow league to be called human. —Liquid`TLO

I was going to mention that in my post too but decided not to. Yeah, it's true females probably spend more time on their social lives too than progamer guys or whatever.

So, if you're not going to practice to be the best among humans, than you have no chance in hell of joining a unisex league if you're a girl. Because all we would see are guys.

lol she did beat Effort.

Do you think she could do it consistently?
I can kill the world's best Modern Warfare player too if I played him enough times to land a lucky random grenade kill. But the end result would probably look something like 1-100.

great interview, but its not unexpected to see girl gamers out there. The stereotype of "no girls on the internet" has gotten tiresome to say the least. I can't help but note the fact that Take selected someone so damn pretty to do his interview and say "look, female gamers do exist". I mean I can think up half a dozen girl gamers I personally know off the top of my head, but none of them are auditioning for "next top model".

Also, this thread is ridiculous banbait. If there's anywhere I expect to see red after my post, it's here. x_x

Ya, this is why it was a terrible idea for Blizzard to display real id in forums, imagine the shitstorm these girls would get if their identities were revealed .

On topic though, is there anything this girl doesn't do? BMX, Fencing, Gaming, Modeling. She sounds like the next Ms. Germany.
In order to move forward, we must rid ourselves of that which holds us back. Check out my stream and give me tips! twitch.tv/intotheskyy

Nice interview. BMX and Nexttop model?? Impressive. Is always good a girl playing computer games, but is even more nice seeing that is not the "typical nerd" girl.

It's cool and all that it's a female gamer and all (it's pretty much common knowledge that they're rare or choose not to reveal themselves), but I'm far from impressed based on her ladder ranking.

You can laugh at me all you want, I am fully aware that she is juggling like 80 things in order to maintain a somewhat normal teenage life (albeit very active), but the focus on her in the interview is the fact that she's a gamer. And she's female. Unfortunately, she isn't that good? Despite playing in several tournaments?

I don't mind the interview itself, rather I'm questioning why her specifically compared to the other female gamers that might be better at it than she is.

In all honesty she is a casual gamer. Maybe a little more than casual. I am 110% sure there are girls just as hot as her (maybe different race irl and in game lulz) that play the game at a casual level
(ie :bronze->silver/gold)

I'm off to hide from the ban hammer...

thier only being strict because they want to keep this forum as serious about eSports as possible ( I mean if the korean esport officials or any esport officials, perhaps even blizzard, were to look for a forum of educated suggestions/ideas it would be TL (next to bnet's own forums but oh the irony)

Its understandable that they ban for 1 word posts.

Imagine we had a balance thread and everyone just goes ,
cool story bro
inb4 idra rage

etc etc , there would be nothing productive. TL would loose its recognition. It is hard to make a definite line of where to ban and where not to as mods are people and make mistakes but imo its best if you just follow the 10 commandment to the best of your ability.

Hah, the first page of this thread is gold.

I kind of wonder how good at SC she is, because being a champion BMX biker/model/SC pro gamer seems like a bit of a stretch, surely you can't be good at all 3.

after watching the interview I just thought that the girl is an overachiever being champion in BMX and playing starcraft while being on of the top girls playing SC 2.

Also if she want's to have a lot of money she should do her best in the Germany's next top model, surely us nerds will be rooting for her (also one reason for me to watch that show with my GF)

I don't think I've ever wished my opponent good luck prior to a game. When I play, I play to win. I hope every opponent I ever have is cursed with fucking terrible luck. I hope they're stuck playing underneath a stepladder with a black cat in attendance a

I think she's right, female leagues are the best way to attract more girls to the game. It's like having a ladies event at the WSOP (which is also a pretty controversial topic in poker btw). You're not saying that girls can't compete with the guys, you're saying that girls prefer to play in an environment where they don't constantly have to deal with male gamers' idiocy.

I don't really know the history, but why were the original BW female leagues abolished in Korea? It always seemed like a good idea to me, but they only ran for like two seasons and then got stopped. Perhaps some older TL member can enlighten me.

There are some female WC3 tournaments in China too (Google Colagirl) but this doesn't seem to have spread any further. It seems paradoxical that we always complain that there aren't enough girls involved in gaming, but at the same time nobody is willing to support tournaments for them...

Here is a video of her BMXing, she has other videos as well on her page. Good interview and it's always nice to see a cute girl taking up our nerdy obsession.
