TITLE : [GSL Preliminaries] Genius Lee Yoon Yul (NaDa)천재 NaDa, "I think I should at least go up to the finals" 2010 Otober 12th, 18:46 KST REPORTER : [Fomos Kyung Hyun Kim] I was motivated after seeing Yohan Lim (Boxer) making it to the main stage.

Genius Nada(oGs) will finally set out to the main stage of Starcraft 2
On October 12th, Nada went through the GSL Starcraft 2 Open Season2 Preliminary round and made it to the main stages. Nada gave a preview of what to come in Season 2 by giving a great performance in his first official games after converting to Starcraft2.
Interview with Nada
- You made it to the main stage for GSL Starcraft2 Open Season 2. ▲ It's been a while since I've played an official game. I was very nervous but I am glad I made it through. Watching (Lim) Yohan making it to the main stage motivated me. I feel good now. *there should be an English word for 형....
- What did you do after announcing to convert over to Starcraft2? ▲ I tried to have my own personal time. I tried to get almost no contact from the outside. I had a lot of time to think and also thought about my career. I did not want to give up Starcraft2 so I decided to participate.
-You joined oGs. ▲ I was practicing by myself at first. It has been only a few days since I joined oGs. I wanted to look for a team rather than practicing by myself and concluded that oGs is a great team. When I met up with (Hwang) Kyu Hoon (Spunky), our thoughts seemed to agree. I practiced yesterday at the house and I was able to pass on to the main stage because a lot of the players helped me out. I thank my oGs teammates.
- You and Boxer drew a lot of attention by participating in the Preliminaries. ▲ There are things I dreamed remembering the past. It feels like I'm back in the past. I couldn't fail to go on to the main stage after (Lim) Yohan made it through. We cheered each other on. It was tight, but I am relieved that I made it through.
- How were the preliminary matches today? ▲ All the games were pretty easy(basic) except the final round. I was familiar with Soohan Kim (100prowin), whom I met in the final round, he has a strong early game pressure. I was caught off guard in the first round and lost, but after that, it was pretty intense.
-Your previous fame might be a burden to you. ▲ I have forgotten all thoughts about Starcraft (1). I am playing Starcraft2 in the same mindset as when I first started. I will have a mind of a rookie. But I think I should try to satisfy my fan's expectations.
-What result would meet the fan's expectations? ▲ I think I should make it to the finals. Honestly, I had no confidence when the finals aired in season1. But I kept trying my hardest, and gained my confidence after joining oGs.
-Do you have a player you want to meet in the finals? ▲ I would like to have a match against Lim Yohan. I did not practice with Lim Yohan personally.
-Are there any advantages for the Starcraft Progamers? ▲ I think that the game Starcraft itself is very hard. I could see that the players with superior gaming sense would do well. But you have to use a little bit more brains than the prequel.
-How do you see the race balance? ▲ It is pretty difficult to win playing **EDIT "vs Zerg" instead of as** Zerg at the higher levels. I think the current balance is not that great (laugh). Patch1.2 is previewed, and if that goes through and the Zerg players from SC1 convert over, Zerg will overrun everything.
- Lim Yohan said that if Terran gets harder for him, he is willing to change his race. ▲ I only know how to use terran. Honestly, I agree with Yohan's Statement. I wish there was a terran player in the commentary(Korean) staff (laugh).
-It feels as if you have some words to say to the fans. ▲ All I can say to my fans is sorry. I couldn't express anything to them for a while. I wrote a short sentence in my diary saying 'I will walk my road and want to to be owner (head... host... please translate this for me anyone?) anywhere I go.' I will elaborate further in the future. Please cheer me on a little more (literal translation is "I would like it if I have more support.")
- The general evaluation is that the level of gaming increased in Season 2. ▲ I agree. Players who drew lot of attention in Season1 failed to qualify and I think it will get harder in Season3 - 시즌2의 난이도가 시즌1보다 높아졌다는 평가가 있는데.
- Any additional words. ▲ People from my school cheered me on. I would like to thank Shin Hyun Gook from school. Hong Sehyun came to cheer me on today although he lost in the final round yesterday. I would like to thank my fellow students at Inha University who cheered me on.
----- I decided to do this to improve my Korean to English translation skill. Please feel free to post edits.

just use the suffix -hyung for 형. if it really concerns you, add a translators note saying it's 'older friend/brother in korean' or something like that, but most people shouldn't be bothered by it.
also 환 is hwan not han, just something minor.
|
pretty cool thanks for the work OP
|
He joined oGs? Pretty huge news imo. Basically all the oGs players got a veteran who can, if anything, help them prepare better as progamers, if not as players of a specific race.
Love his comments about Zerg. 1.2 can't come fast enough, even if it's just to change perceptions.

Nada vs Boxer in GSL2 finals.....just thinking about it blows my mind.
Thanks for translation!
|
Cant wait to see how Boxer and Nada do in the GSL. I hope they do well.
I sure as hell wont be disappointed if thats the TvT we see in the finals

Hell yeah, let's hope for some effort and JD action soon! Nice interview btw.

Thanks for the translation^^

Did you miss that? There was this huge thread of speculation before the announcement.

thanks for the translation. let's get a teamliquid badge on nada's oGs uniform please!!

thanks for the translation. somewhat surprising he lost the opening game of his final match. what a scary thought if he didn't qualify.

Awesome, thanks! NaDa's at university? :>

Ah hoping to get a glimpse of the TL logo on nada's beautiful body lol

I think you can use hyong, most people are probably familiar with that term. and it definitely sounds better than 'brother' or 'older brother'.
and of course thanks for the translation!
edit: GTR already wrote the same thing, sorry for that -.-

ooo did he say sc2 requires more brain than bw. not that i agree or disagree but it seems controversial and might distance him further from some of his fans who were angered by his switch.
but, really looking forward to watch him play! The bad thing is i probably will have to buy tickets on multiple days because i doubt they will put nada and boxer at the same day =(
sigh.. i guess there is no option but buying the season ticket
|
Nada and Boxer, nerdchillssssss!
|
NaDa is a student at Inha university? Holy shit, I'm going there for my semester abroad, just hoping he's still there when I'm comiiiiiiing...sounds too good to be true
|
Liquid to also get some jackets please <3

It still shocks me that people still didn't know Nada joined oGs when it was announced ages ago
Nada vs Idra finals 8D
|
I am so glad they both qualified (boxer // nada)
I hope they can continue at this pace throughout more GSLs
|
Shocking both nada and boxer think Z > T. Over nerfed?
Cheering for both of them.

Did he really say as or is it just translated wrong? I'm just surprised if he meant that after that patch zerg will be unstoppable

It would definitely be cool, but Idra would have had to improve hugely recently. FruitDealer is simply twice as good as any other zerg I've ever seen play.
I hope Nada goes far, but I just don't think he will for 2 reasons. 1, it'd be too good to be true. and 2, it's so easy to lose a bo3 in sc2!
|
If NaDa wins the GSL I will promise to purge any negative thoughts I may have had about SC2. Same for Boxer.

Very cool, hope he does well!

May I ask why? If you don't like or have negative thoughts about SC2 how them winning it would change anything? Or is it just "my fav player won so this must be the best game ever" thing. I'm actually just curious

As people will know what it means or easily look it up anyway.
But as to the question that there should be an English word for it, there are many words used as honourifics particularly to elder males but outside of a few professions (mostly legal) they are no longer used and therefore don't sit very well as direct translations.

Guess EffOrt is waiting for the patch before he starts raping peeps.

I want to see Nada with a TL patch on his arm. I would jizz rainbows.

Yea im confused as well, he says Zerg is too weak, but then he says after the patch that they will be very strong. Are the patch changes really going to make that much of a difference?

From my reading, it appears that he thinks that zerg is very strong at the top tier of play and the patch will amply it. As for me personally, I can't even come close to commenting on that. Thanks for the translation OP.

What a slick jacket. I want one

wow Nada lookin' good as always! cant wait for him to beast it up this tournament

Are there any BW-pro's who play went to play Protoss (well)? It seems almost all the ones I hear of either are Terran and staying that, are switching to Terran or are Zerg and keep playing Zerg.I wouldn't mind seeing Bisu/Stork/Kingdom/Movie transfer to SC2 to have someone to cheer for ^^ At the moment my P hopes are on Inca and Genius but I'm not really that convinced on their skill (relative to the top ofc) ^^

SangHo qualified for GSL2 yesterday, but yes there has not been a lot of Protoss users switching to SC2.

i would pay up to 30$ for one of those jackets :O

I didn't follow BW but I thought Sangho was involved in some kind of matchmaking scandal? Wouldn't that prevent him from playing in GSL?

sigh.. i guess there is no option but buying the season ticket I think that statements stems from the fact that macroing just required way more skill and time in bw than sc2 so now you have to focus a little more on mind games, unit composition, and clever micro because everyone's macro will be almost perfect because of the easier mechanics. In bw there was only so much micro you could do without falling behind macro economically.

The proper translation of 형 is "brah".

Different opinions much? Artosis claims roach range wont help zerg much. nada and boxer claim patch will help zerg too much. Honestly I think blizzard knows what they are doing.

BoxeR and NaDa in GSL2? That's just too damn awesome.
What would be even more awesome if one of them won, or TLO taking them both out to win it all!

If any of you enjoy some good ol' smash bros, it kindof resembles the shift from melee to brawl; players with extraordinary mechanics said melee was superior, while players that favored a mind-game or spacing oriented style had no issue with brawl (some even finding a focus on mechanics to be cumbersome). It's only natural for a game that more noticeably rewards your strengths to feel great, but like borked said, I don't think he was siting the superiority of one over the other in this case.

I missed by chance to see Nada in his prime. I'm looking forward to this tournament!

Thanks for the translation!
Boxer vs Nada finals wold be sick, but I dont think either of them have the sc2 skills to go that far yet. I just hope both of them can put on some entertaining games and make it past a couple rounds.

Where as tester, is already an established sc2 players and widely known as the Best player in the world(of sc2) until of recent Fruitdealer pwnage. Having the best player, highest favorite of GSL1 being knocked out in the QUALIFIERS of GSL 2 is very astonishing.

The only question I have for Nada is: How can I get one of those jackets?
Seriously though, those are really nice, I think oGs would do well to sell those to their fanbase. I know it's not a huge thing in Korea, but the foreign fans would all love those, am I right?
