I really love State of the Game. Even if it would be 2 full hours of Sean laughing/trolling people I'd still love it and not miss a second of it. I hope the format stays the way it is, the informal atmosphere keeps it very entertaining. Thumbs up guys (and Anna)!
Special hug to iNcontroL for handling the NASL criticism so well, big respect for the efforts you're putting in and the honesty in the discussions.

I'll revisit it. Zerg players outside of Korea should be ashamedat this point that their strategies are being advanced by a player who doesn't play nearly full-time (Mondragon) and by an amateur player (Spanishiwa), and that even as non-refined and non-explored as their strategies are and as sloppy as their macro and overall mechanics are, they still allow both players to punch above their weight and actually show fantastic stuff in their games.
I think Zerg players inside of Korea should be ashamed aswell, don't you think so?
There you go, Nestea RO16 interview:
- Recently, zergs are having a hard time; do you also feel the burden? I see what the community has to say, and they continue to think ‘Nestea will come up with something…’ so I feel a lot of pressure. I don’t think I can do much more. If I practice a lot more, I think I will be able to see some good results.
- What do you think about the patch? I don’t think it changed anything big. I think infestors are pretty good against terran now but still not that good against protoss.
- On Xel’naga fortress, zergs are having a hard time. Against protoss, I’ve concluded that it is impossible to win.
- MC and Mvp have both gotten 2 championships, do you also have the desire/greed to win another? If I were terran or protoss, I think I would be in contention to win more championships. But as a zerg I don’t know if I will get many chances. I will quietly keep on trying hard.
- Do you want to switch races? Sometimes I want to switch races. I occasionally use a smurf ID to play different races. It’s so easy to beat a zerg (when I do that).
- So why don’t you switch? When you win with an unfavorable race, I think victory shines more. If only the map pool was more playable…
FruitdealerRO16 interview:
- Your reason for not doing so well in the regular seasons? I haven’t practiced enough. Even for today, I only practiced for about 3 days. Also, ZvT isn’t so bad but ZvP is really hard right now. Sometimes, there are situations where I can’t even theorycraft on what to do in that matchup. In practice, when I face a protoss, it just often makes me feel like, I can’t win.
- When will be your resurrection? When there is a balance patch. However, I am feeling pretty good this season. My next game will either be against my teammate or against that zerg so it will be difficult. Nestea is the only Z that I have a hard time facing in a mirror match.
Nestea and Fruitdealer, you guys should be ashamed, be more creative like spansiwa or mondragon !!

1. Yes I left the part of the balance because blizzard "doesn't focus on maps" for balance perse. look at the current or previous ladder maps. Still close positions, still maps like DQ, backwater, slagpits, scrapstation, shakuras, xelnaga. PvZ is imbalanced in all the current maps, can we atleast agree on that? or do you want to indulge into trival things and not focus on the freaking IMBALANCE that is staring right at our face?? blizzard has stated they want shitty maps on ladder because it creates diversity (cheeses, rushs) because that what sales the games in lower leagues.
2. My point was to show Mr. Genius (aka talin) that every freaking zerg is complaining not only the foreigners ( which by the way he is really ashamed of - yea talin everyone cares about your feelings, NOT !)
3. The quote is not old, it was just translated !
So yea unless they remove entire Ladder maps and GSL maps and focus on making zerg friendly maps till then the game is broken, or or they could minor tweak protoss . what sounds more convenient and plausible in the eyes of blizzard ?
By the way I like how you conveniently leave out the entire balance outcry and focus on stuff that was left out.

The reason why balance discussions shouldn't be on SOTG isn't because there isn't any and it isn't because there's some mass conspiracy to cover up the fact that "Protoss is imba". Rather it is because balance discussions are BORING. They just rehash the same thing over and over again. It is like having a religion discussion - they're amusing in that they are funny to laugh at, not because they are quality/entertaining content. Also dude, you have about 40 posts in this thread and all but like 3 are bitching about Zerg being UP or Protoss being OP. I think the SOTG guys get it. If they aren't talking about it on their show as much as you'd like, it is probably for a reason.
And if you and Talin have some beef with each other, you probably should take it to PMs (IMO).

Please don't quote huge posts that are right above yours, it makes the thread very much harder to read.
The show is called "State of the Game" so I fully expect to have frequent discussions about balance and the current state of staple builds or staple units (how powerful they are at the time.)
Balance threads are always super extra long, people post tons of unrelated content and are emotional. When SotG talks about balance, it's shorter and to the point. Plus, it's not Gold players complaining about aspects of the game that they will eventually compensate for with practice or new builds. They are pro players, so when they collectively hit a road block (e.g. ZvP, 4-gate PvP) you know it's not for lack of practice or imagination.

I thought Anna calling in was cute every time it happened... until he said that some of them (recent ones?) were staged.
|
Why does it matter if she calls in? 1) She asks good questions. 2) It's sometimes funny. 3) its ALWAYS funny when it gets awkward and quiet, then she hangs up, and Day9's enormous cackle breaks the silence.

The last episode was really good (imo) because they talked about the state of the game. I was really an interesting discussion. Those are my favorites episodes. Anna is cool to have on the show, but only when her call doesn't land in a middle of an interesting segment and doesn't cut someone. Because when that happens, they don't resume what they were saying after the call, they just skip to something else, and that's frustrating for the audience.
Anyway, still the best podcast on the planet <3

My apologies for that mistake about the interview timing, actually. I hadn't kept up to date on the results of yesterday's GSL and that's virtually the same interview Fruit gives every time he wins or loses a match. Almost verbatim in fact.
As for map balance, Blizzard wants a variety of maps =/= they want shitty maps. The map pool now is almost at its best for Z, which is vast improvement over earlier seasons. Heck, I'd argue their new Shakuras is a very balanced map for ZvX, not that we ever get to see it because tournaments use the MLG version. Goodbye Blistering, Jungle Basin, and Steppes and hello Tal'Darim and Typhon, along with a not terrible Shakuras 1.5.
Edit: Also, both Nestea and Fruitdealer play on GSL maps which are hardly representative of Blizzard map balance. The easy thirds they offer do a lot to promote PvX deathball play. That's the mapmaker's fault, not Blizzard's.

The Anna thing is like the people who are convinced that their kids is the most fascinating subject in the world, but nobody else gives a shit. I the same way, it's amusing for Geoff but hardly for anyone else.
