Greg has taught me that people from Michigan pronounce "Root," as "R-uh-t." SotG is educational!

Seems like the guys really underestimate Kas alot. I'm pretty sure if Kas went to the GSL WC he coud of took some games off the Koreans. He's definitely one of the best Terrans right now.
Lee Jae Dong proved that a focus on mechanics and execution could solve problems in the StarCraft game strategy.

They covered it fairly early on in the show. Basically just how bad it was, the MLG guys apologised heavily etc etc.

I could find the MLG bracket EASILY and ironically!

Would love that indeed. only he needs to roll protoss than :p

No idra would be a great 5th piller. Only thing is that with 5 people on, its hard to invite some more such as sockééé and Huk (GO JP!) or sheth

Yeah I don't know what Kas' TvT is like but I'd say he's at least as good as Nada is right now. Nada's not completely on top of his game right now.

Did he actually confirm he is a pillar now? I mean I know he said it once before that IdrA is the new pillar of the show, but we didn't see IdrA on any of the future SotG's so I assumed he was joking.

MLG was "ok" according to most of them? Lol... They are so biased, if this would have been any other tournament they would have ripped to shreds and that for good reason.

Well aside from the obvious fact they are not going to heavily criticize people they work for or have some kind of relationship with all of them were actually at the event so none of them saw how bad the stream really was. Day9 and JP probably have a decent idea since they were the casters, but nowhere near the full picture. Also just for the record Tyler saying there was nothing they could do and the fault was completely on the venue is laughable. MLG has had similar problems with their venues before although not to this extent, they knew the problem could surface. Why do you think NASL partnered with Justin.tv for their streaming? There is plenty a corporation can do to prepare especially with the track record they had which consists of not starting a single SC2 event on time last year or this year.

Yeah what a fucking surprise they didn't 'rip MLG to shreds'. It's not bias, they've not exactly been kind to MLG in the past. But they were all at the event, they saw how hard the MLG guys were working to get it to work, what the fuck did you expect? To download the podcast and hear 'OMG IT WAS FUCKING TERRIBLE NO ONE WATCH MLG EVER AGAIN'? No. They're not there to shout your opinions back at you so you feel justified in them. They're there to give a unique perspective, and that perspective was that the problems were mostly outside of MLG's hands and it they were 'impressed' with how they handled the sitation. (That's a quote from Idra who has absolutely no obligation to be nice to MLG)

It's totally weird to me that there were people saying they'd be 'disappointed' if SotG didn't tear MLG a new one. Why? What good would it do even if they did?

To be honest I feel like Day9 actually has bias toward the position that he takes, that the game isn't figured out and maybe zergs all just need to be more creative instead of crying imbalance. If he comes out and says that he thinks zerg is underpowered it may put off his terran/protoss playing audience. Plus, he wants to promote creative play, even if it is just catz, destiny and a bunch of gold players, because that's what his lower level (majority) audience want to see in the dailies.

Wait, so you think Day9 is biased and professional players are not? Pro players want to win, and they preferably want to win as easy as possible - if they feel they can put pressure on people who balance the game to get even a tiniest advantage, they will. Add hordes of lower level players who can't win with the race because they're just bad will hop on the bandwagon, and it becomes really easy to create the illusion that the game is broken and the race is unplayable.

Remember the period when Protoss players had really mediocre results (especially in Korea) and Genius said he would change his race unless it got buffed? It turned out that most Protoss players just

a) Weren't good enough to compete for the top at the time.
b) Didn't have the game as figured out as they do now.

And note that Protoss never got buffed.

The game most definitely isn't figured out. It's not even close. Just the early game in SC2 is even more complex (due to macro mechanics) and has a lot more options and timings than BW early game had. It's a long process, it has been that way in every Blizzard RTS. Only a few brilliant individuals revolutionized their race's gameplay in BW, some of it even took as long as half a decade after the last patch.

Ultimately, the "game is broken" mentality will only hurt you as a player - just like it hurts Idra actually. You will be less good and less successful with that mindset, it's absolutely the wrong mindset for a player to have. It's not a player's job to consider game balance (players tend to be bad at game design anyway).

protoss did get buffed. Scouting made easyer, halucinate build time decrease, obs for lesser cost and pheonix build time decreased. I know these sound as small changed but it where buffs ^^

His point is still totally valid. The point being - rewind a couple months and Protoss everywhere were shaking their heads in despair because they didn't think they could win a damned thing. Rewind further and they were screaming in frustration because they couldn't beat mutalisks. Looking at those complaints from here, they seem ridiculous.

I'm not saying zerg is fine, but Day[9] has history on his side on his 'let's see what happens with the metagame' approach.

I agree with the poster above me.

And I mean, enough has been said at this point, we know what went wrong, the people at MLG know what went wrong, the ceo himself apologized, you can hear about the MLG people that have been working for crazy hours trying to get everything right.

Is it really necessary to just keep going on and on and on about it? At that point your just whining just because they want to whine, I just don't see what more they could have added on State of the game that would have lead to a good discussion.

Just leave it be, every single problem has been talked about to death at this point, I am sure MLG is gonna do absolutely everything to get the next even as good as possible.
If you don't want to watch anymore, then that is your point, but then just leave it be.

Ok, so MLG was "ok", how is ok cutting it?

Lets compare some of the stuff thats been put out there recently bu leauges and tournaments.

Dreamhack

TSL

NASL

IGN

GSL

MLG

Who is or is going to manage to live up to there own hype? Some have failed, some have made it and some will prove themself. We can atleast say that the live stream expirence that MLG has hyped in this video did not really make it all the way, with or without internet!
I am not young enough to know everything.

There is a difference between them not really talking about it, which I think most people wouldn't have cared about since your right it has been talked to death, and them basically saying "it's not MLG's fault" which even Sundance has acknowledged is not the case.
