The first computer my father had when i was a child, had the mouse on the left so i got used to it. I can use both now, but my left hand is still better for gaming. And also, yay for fast download on blip this time.

Maybe he felt obliged to get involved, maybe he was just very happy because he finished his thesis and went all out podcast mode, i dunno but it seems like he is wayyy more involved and that is always a good thing. Without webcam , it seems like he just went into the background and kinda did his own thing. Not like anyone will blame him for it because we know free time is very precious for him. But content and analysis wise, this is the best yet. Love "special tactics" btw. Cracked me up so hard!

It's like a professional movie-critic or athelete give their opinion on a subject vs the opinion of a (casual) observer. Sure they are both opinions, but you are dead wrong if you say hold equal value. If you actually listened to Tyler's explanation on why that PvP on Shakuras was risky, he backed it up with ingame knowledge and clear observation. It was a gamble in a sense. That did NOT take away any credit for the performance of WhiteRa whatsoever.

After watching almost a year of Protoss games in Sc2 i would like to propose an idea that i had with the warp in mechanic: Disclaimer: I use numbers that are about right IMO Example for current warp gate attacks that i hope to fix: - Here i build my warp in pylon right into your face, it takes you forever to kill it, while my army weakens your army. - Warp in amulet templars anywhere on the map (amulet should be restored if you limit the places they can be warped in) The Pylon Grid/Upgrade: - You can not warp in units from normal pylons anymore - You have to upgrade a pylon so you can warp in stuff around it - If another pylon is in the power grid of an upgraded pylon, you can also warp in stuff there - Upgrade unlocked on pylons with cybernetics core - It takes 5-10 sec to upgrade a pylon (maybe even a small cost 10/10) - when you start upgrading your pylon not powered by other pylons, shield of pylon is reduced to 0 Why the changes: The major issue i have with the warp in mechanic (especially in PvP) is the reduction of the "Defenders Advantage". You basically don't have any disadvantages for attacking and reinforcing. So i try to fix it by limiting the warp in mechanic on the offensive and defensive side. First, needing an upgrade that requires time means more units and time for the defender and less advantage for the attacker. Second, not being able to warp in anywhere on the map with a pylon also removes some of the warp in defense and harass mechanics. Before i go any deeper into my thought process and start writing endless essays, i would like to introduce you guys to an unit already in the game, that fixes all my changes for a protoss: Warp Prism You can warp in anything, anywhere! Let's just take a step back and look at it in comparison to the ALMIGHTY PYLON in the current state of the game! (hidden shoutout ftw!) - for 100 minerals i get not mobile warp in point, food - for WAY TOO MUCH in comparison, i get a mobile warp in point, you can load stuff into it and costs food My conclusion: Unless i want to warp in into a region my probe can not reach (islands) and/or drop robo units there is no real cost effective use for warp prisms right now. With my changes the warp prism becomes relevant again and you can still do the same things you do now. Moreover, with my tech delay to either upgraded pylons or warp prisms, rushes and templar warp in (restore amulet) are way more tactical and have to be implemented into a strategy since you have to protect them and plan them ahead of time so you can reinforce while attacking or defending. Since it took some time to put my thoughts into words i would really hope you guys on SotG could give some comments on my idea to fix the protoss mechanic. I know it is not really worked out and is too big of a change for a normal patch until the next expansion. But because of the dominance of the 4-warp gate for such a long time i think we have to not only look at the player skill but also the game mechanic part of Sc2. Thanks in advance for spending some time reflecting on my ideas.

Im sorry, I like Tyler most times but being such a downer in SOTG all the time about PvP and MC in general is getting tiresome =( And yes, its my OPINION so comments like "Omg tyler speaks the truth!!!!!!" wont affect me <3 How in the world does criticism of professional peers amount to being a downer? Mood, satisfaction, affect, whatever factors you think contribute to... a downer... are all irrelevant to the goal of critical gameplay discussion: sterile analysis and dissection of why a game turned out as it did, then finally salvaging brilliance and excising mistakes. All professional competitors benefit from being hyper critical of themselves and others in order to learn, grow, and improve their play. Even a non-competitor like Day9 has repeated explicitly how hard he is on himself, and how he'll settle for nothing less than the best from his own efforts. It's simply a productive mentality.
