What is wrong with discussing stuff said on SOTG in the SOTG thread? I found something weird that I heard on SOTG, so I posted about it. You actually called day9 an ass and an "attention craving little kid". You then proceeded to tell the 15 people who disagreed with you that they were wrong and you were right because your mom taught you when you were 2. Also you claimed you were just commenting on day9's story in particular. But than you made a blanket statement that in the United States getting your waiters attention in the manner day9 described would be perceived by EVERYONE as completely rude and belligerent. None of which is true. Possibly you could have said "Am I the only one who thought day9 came off as an ass in his story?" The response might have been, "Yes you are the only one, it sounded more like the waiter was having a bad day and the story was meant to be comical to a live audience at a fan event." To quote myself Show nested quote +Anyone who is a waiter would probably get extremely pissed at some ass raising their hand(or pointing, which my mom taught me not to do at the age of 5) to get more food. It is extremely rude and uncivilized to get up/raise hand for a waiter, you sit and wait. They were also probably laughing because of you acting like an little attention craved kid trying to get food. In my opinion he was being a ass with the way he got the waiters attention. Pointing is disrespectful in almost all ways, other than maybe pointing to show someone where to go. I said he was ACTING like an attention craved kid. My mom is a elementary school teacher, when kids want her attention but shes ignoring/busy, they will raise their hand (like hermoine granger), they will yell her name, they will get up and bother her. By no means am I calling Day9 a attention starved kid, but from his story he was definitely acting like one. Someone said that is acceptable in other cultures to wave your hands/point to get your waiters attention where I said that is rude in the US (other than maybe upscale resturants) in most common resturants (olive garden, red lobster etc) Also yea, looking back I probably could have said it in a nicer way, but I just described the way I viewed it. Also just to say. If I was a waiter for Day9 and he did these things, there would be absolutely no problem, because that is Day9, he is a playful/silly. Problem is, not everyone knows him, so the waiter just saw some obnoxious guy trying to get his attention.
Which scenario would you rather be involved in: Customer tries to get your attention for more food/drinks, which you bring them promptly or you take forever, customers get pissed, leave a shitty tip cause the waiter did his job shitty, and then the waiter is pissed?

What's more disrespectful? Pointing at someone or calling someone an ass and "attention craving little kid"?
What Day9 did was immature, but most people wouldn't be incredibly offended from it. I think that you're probably more offended than the waiter was....

They were both images used to explain.

man looking at these pictures of PAX make me sooo excited for MLG Columbus. I cant wait to go and experience the amazingness that is to come!

I've worked in the food industry as a waiter/caterer and now as a chef and raising your hand for service is never been considered rude. Would you rather have surly customers leave a crap tip becuase they waited 10 mins for a refill.
|
STFU ABOUT THE FOOD INDUSTRY PLEASE!

We are definitely killing E-Sports by keeping a SC2 podcast bumped from discussing what happened in said podcast. Sorry e-sports, I didn't mean to hurt you so
