SoTG has been getting pretty dull recently. I'm really starting to get tired of all the discussion involving tournament logistics and formats. I realize that JP and Geoff are into that sort of thing, but there are probably more interesting things to talk about. All I got from the GSL talk was that Huk has bad builds, July is bad but got lucky because Nada is worse, and Nony isn't impressed with any of the protosses including MC. To hear Tyler be so dismissive about the GSL players sounds strange because I feel like Nony is coasting hard on the goodwill of his past SC1 accomplishments. People forget that he is probably the weakest of all the Liquid players. Have Day9 back on ASAP- the positive energy of the show is severely lacking without him. Have to disagree about Tyler. He's had decent success in MLGs, sure he hasn't won but against the competition he's no slouch either. HuK looked really weak in code A, I'm terrible but I could see the flaws in his play, and round by round you could see his opponents catching onto what he did, and from then on it looked like they had no trouble countering it. . Tyler is what you call a theory crafter. Watches games and talks shit about others players when he can't apply all the things he criticizes in his own games so never wins tourneys. There was that old thread with tyler watching huk's stream and criticizing him like mad while watching. He got on huk's case about using 1 pylon to power all his gates which I agree is bad, but then at assembly, tyler did the same damn thing in one his games. So he doesn't practice what he preaches. Then he talks shit about the koreans play at iem when tyler could only dream of being as good as them. I'm so hoping strelock demolishes tyler at tsl 3. He's by far my least favourite liquid player. I consider him as bm as idra. is this irony or are you really being serious? you are doing to me exactly what i do to the players haha. i've already put my knowledge into practice in sc1. everyone had access to all the broadcasts of pro games. i privately studied them and critiqued them the same way i did the IEM reps on my stream. then i practiced a shitload and put my knowledge into play. then i became the best non-korean sc player in the world. "he doesn't practice what he preaches" means you don't believe in the advice you're giving. it doesn't mean you have knowledge but not the ability to use it. if you want to critique my sc2 career, there's honestly only one way to do it: i dont practice enough. i lack discipline. i've said many times that i dont practice in custom games. all of the custom games in my match history are from tournaments. so if you take 60 seconds to look up all my accounts on sc2ranks (NA, EU and KR), you'll find i've played just a bit over 700 ladder games, and that's all the games i've played. i dont even 2v2/3v3/4v4 at all. and a large chunk of those games aren't real practice. i brush up for a tournament and then get out of shape. then i gotta take 30-50 games to brush up again. it's honestly fucking pathetic. and i know the obvious response to all this is "either start practicing and prove that you're so good or shut up." yeah, well, i havent been saying that im a better player. i might say that i know better. hell, even then, im not that strong about it. i often say things like "it seems to me" or "it feels like" or "i wish i could see them do this other thing and see if it would have been better" or "i didnt really like that, i'd rather try this other way first." and when i do have a strong opinion, i can say from experience that 99% of the time, if the player was sitting next to me, he'd agree with me. so i dont really feel the need to shut up. i have useful things toi say! but anyway, yeah, bottom line is you gotta demonstrate your knowledge. there's no way around it. and not just in custom and ladder games that no one sees, or even in small tournaments. you gotta do it at big fucking tournaments. and you cant rely on having demonstrated it in SC1, hoping that everyone will just take your word for it that you're not feeding them bullshit about SC2. no way that would ever fly. OH WAIT!! Day[9]. mind fucking blown I love this post. Hope you find the motivation in the future to play sc2, not to shut up the haters, but to give us amazing games to watch. Wow that post is incredibly up front 0_0 It saddens me that Nony admitted he doesn't practice to his full potential; he's my favourite player and I want him to do well. Obviously that guy is talking out of his arse saying Nony's not even very good (how did that showmatch against Jinro go recentl-OH YEAH 3-1 AGAINST A TWO TIME GSL FINALIST WHASSUP (edit: semi finalist duuuuh), and comparing him unfavourably to Huk when, just for a quick frame of reference, Huk has been destroyed by Idra several times and Nony beat him, again in a showmatch), and for a guy who doesn't practice enough he's doing pretty fucking well. And implying he doesn't have the right to criticise GSL players is also palpably bullshit, it's also a logical fallacy known as 'appeal to achievement'. But come on Tyler the Day[9] example isn't fair as Day[9] quit playing to cast, so has cleverly exempted himself from proving his knowledge with tournament results by not playing tournaments. You could have done the same if you had any voice inflection ^_^

I think he was supporting what Day9 does; with all the good advice and insight he has to offer from a rich BW history and extensive game knowledge even though he doesn't play SC2 very actively. I think? Edit: Boom.

Day9 doesn't make it sound like he is so much better because it's common knowledge that he's not, and I'm sure he'd admit it too. Tyler is very possibly better than the players he critiques, since he actually plays competitively at the same level.

This is just trash, listen again to the podcast. It's a hell of a fucking leap from 'None of them really impressed me' to 'THOSE GSL PLAYERS SUCK UNLIKE ME, TYLER, I AM THE BESTEST'. All criticisms given were valid, and politely put. Please feel free to quote the criticisms you thought belittled players, and I'd gladly explain precisely why you are wrong.
