His loss in this GSL puts him in a club with MVP and NesTea, and I have a hard time believing anyone out there is saying "Yeah, we've seen the last of those guys." MKP was in the finals as recently as LAST GSL. I have more doubts though because his mass marine rush style really suffers from large maps...yeah he's been expanding a lot and stuff, but marine harass is central to his playstyle and I think the new maps, on top of people kind of figuring out how to beat mass marine, means that he may have trouble in the future.

His mass marine style still works, he will just have to incorporate mass drops.
His micro is his strength, and 3 simultaneous marine drops being micro'ed well is freaking obnoxious to deal with.

Waiting for the Pax show upload... well the logical place to discuss SotG is in the SotG thread, hope it gets uploaded soon Did JP say that it's going to be uploaded? I remember before PAX it wasn't 100% guaranteed that it was going to be up. hmm i didnt know that, i assumed it would be though, what reason would they have to not? because they didn't know wether they were going to be able to stream/record it i think
Your joking? Was this a PAX legal (right word?) issue? I can't for the life of me see how it could be a technical issue. Some spare wire and any one of half the media players/phone could of record the show. (lets not go in to the laptop/livestreaming set ups people had running already.)
So will the Tyler vs TLO game not be shown then?

It was Tyler vs Haypro, not TLO.

Epic application by Tyler but.....JP If you don't upload the last SotG then someone else will!
|
I don't think it's even fair to say that MKP will be unable to adjust if he needs to play a different style, and right now it's not 100% clear to me that he does. Given enough time, why couldn't he?

Great show guys, definitely one of the things I look forward to each week, I love listening to the show on my way to class. I just can't fathom why so many people have so many negative things to say about free content that isn't mandatory, it's mindblowing.
Negative nancy's aside, I hope you guys keep doing the show, and an update in the near future on the PAX episode would be appreciated :D

July and nada are terrible, everyone in IEM was terrible, Hongun is shit etc. I mean they're entitled to their opinions but it does sound like they think they are so much better when in fact they aren't. This is just trash, listen again to the podcast. It's a hell of a fucking leap from 'None of them really impressed me' to 'THOSE GSL PLAYERS SUCK UNLIKE ME, TYLER, I AM THE BESTEST'. All criticisms given were valid, and politely put. Please feel free to quote the criticisms you thought belittled players, and I'd gladly explain precisely why you are wrong. Idra said both nada and july played outdated strategies that doesn't work, july only won because his strategy was slight less outdated, that is almost an exact quote and is hardly constructive just talking down his achievement. Incontrol agreed and then said july has been a disappointment in sc2, i'd say reaching this far into GSL is a great achievement but when listening to sotg it sounds as if he got there by just beating a bunch of bad players. The vibe I got was that July is playing an unsustainable strategy that is a derivative of his Brood War style. It is relatively unique, and even Artosis said that during, I think maybe the match before the semi's practicing against July isn't that helpful because it is only going to help you against July and not the general Zerg population. July runs on a low economy that makes Hive Tech really not all the plausible in most situations, especially considering his aggressive style. Since more players in the GSL probably don't face too many Zerg players that use July's strategy him winning isn't only a testament to his skill, but also to the inexperience of his competition. I think there is a lot of room for improvement in July's play but the flaws tend to be masked by the unique nature of his play and the positive results thus far. I don't think he can continue to play in the manner he has been (not the aggressive part so much a low economy) and expect to win as players observe his strategies more. I think this was the general sentiment of the SOTG crew who could see the flaws in both July's play and in the responses made by his opponents. I think the difference is that July saw an opportunity/weakness in how nada played and went for an aggressive strategy. Not a simple - Im gonna be aggressive no matter what. I think Idra isn't giving july credit where its due. True, nada played an outdated style, but july recognized it and exploited it.
