That's the thing though. I originally listened to SotG for gossip and inside info from the competitive scene - comments and opinions on other players were the best part of the show.
You guys rarely have much to about say about players in recent tournaments or GSL other than the fact that the they apparently suck or are unimpressive.
I'm not so presumptuous to ask that you change the show or anything, but I'm just offering my thoughts on the matter. I'm sorry if I touched a nerve in criticizing Tyler though.
the only nerve that has been touched has been your own by nony expressing his views on other players :|
i really like seeing pets idra's cat is pretty cute. i like tyler's ferrets too, but they looked dead lol.. kinda disturbing (although i know it doesn't hurt them)

Ironic coming from the guy who throws the most barbs at other players but can't take the heat when barbs are thrown back at him and gets overly sensitive at criticism like you did in that one thread not too long ago.
Then you made a ridiculous analogy that you can talk shit other players because you play on their level while us forum peons don't so should never dare question your play and results.
I guess all sports fans should never ever criticize players cause we can't play on their level. We can't call donovan mcnabb a choker cause we're not on his level. We can't call the miami heat a bunch of cry babies cause we're not on their level.

I'm not the one that felt compelled to write a five paragraph rebuttal. Disclaimer: I really have nothing against Tyler. I just like responding to people like you.

I second this motion.
Perhaps we could tie him up in the city square and stone him.
I think Tyler is good enough at getting stoned on his own

geoff needs a webcam
He has a webcam, it's just that he is playing DDR for the duration of the episode.

Lately the play hasn't been anything special though. All the top guys outside of MC have been knocked out of GSL and it wasn't to stellar play by the opponent. Assembly wasn't anything special. IEM was dominated by the Koreans, but again it wasn't that special.

I'm no expert, but I don't feel as if all the players in the world are suddenly playing worse than they were two months ago.

Well considering the top guys got knocked out more by poor play of their own and that their have been a lot of mistakes made by players in GSL this season, more than last season IMO, I would say the play isn't as good as GSL 4.
Something that really bothers me, not just about this thread, or SC2 or any of that, but about people in general, is the vocal minority. I can't believe that Tyler and iNcontroL continue to do State of the Game after all the shit that they get from it. They contribute to JP's show, which is free content, and all they ever hear for it is crap. Yes, I think that iNcontroL speaks out of line sometimes. Yes, I think that Tyler should put more effort into practice. But you know what? They are very talented players, cornerstones of the community, who are donating their time to give us an entertaining product.
SoTG just did their 30th episode, and each one is 2 hours long or longer. That's five full days of recording that they could have spent with their wife/girlfriend, or practicing, or working out, or whatever. Sure, they get some notoriety from the show, and some fans, but they also get targets painted of their backs for having their opinions be so public. It disgusts me how much nonconstructive criticism (note the word "nonconstructive") keeps getting throw at them.
Tyler, you've been my favorite player for years, and you'll always be nony to me. You're awesome. iNcontroL, you're a baller and I hope the NASL opens up a career path for you. Thank you, and JP, Day[9], Idra, and all of the guests for giving us a great show. Screw the haters.

That he didn't learn anything or see anything impressive, mostly because he won 3-0 and his opponent sucked.
Well, I guess I'll admit that the opponents weren't quite good enough for MC to show really interesting stuff with. But I mean, HongUn beat Jinro, which is probably the best foreigner in the world right now, Byun was the code A runner up and a pretty solid player, and July has taken out both Clide and Nada. The fact that MC didn't just beat, but crushed these guys without dropping a single game seems to show that he is a damn good player. It isn't that informative seeing him make S class pros like July, HongUn, and Byun look like nubby nub nub three men in a tub, but it hard to take as anything other than a testament to his skill.

I think you're missing the point slightly. For the MC and HongUn series, it was a PvP and I think Tyler wanted to learn something about top level PvP in korea. I actually watched the series with the exact same intent. But then as soon as HongUn goes and drops his second gas SUPER early and lets MC see it, I was just like "Oh.. well, MC can just 4gate and win" ...and that's exactly what happened ...for two out of the three games. The other game was entertaining from a spectator perspective, but the builds were both standard. Hence, he didn't learn anything.
Just wanted to add, to the SOTG guys: You guys are awesome. Tyler you've been a personal inspiration to me for a very long time. I see Huk at the top of the ladder and I think, "Well I could never be that because I can't play for 8-12 hours a day". But I see how skilled you are with such little practice... especially in BW when you were still in school (correct me if I'm wrong) and getting married. It's inspirational man. It gives me hope that the 1 hour of practice a day I have time for isn't futile.
Anyway, this is getting a little too dramatic, but I just wanted to reminds you guys that for every insanely retarded person trolling in this thread or on the stream, there's 100 more quietly enjoying all the content you guys throw out.

I was actually going to write something like this, but you sir have said it all for me. I agree with everything you have written. Keep up the good work SotG crew!

I think that far more people like incontrol and tyler, but they don't care enough to actually post about it. Like you said, vocal minority. I think that their time spent doing this is really beneficial for all involved, and Tyler/Inc are both a few of the more popular foreigner players from what I've seen.
"he doesn't practice what he preaches" means you don't believe in the advice you're giving. it doesn't mean you have knowledge but not the ability to use it. if you want to critique my sc2 career, there's honestly only one way to do it: i dont practice enough. i lack discipline. i've said many times that i dont practice in custom games. all of the custom games in my match history are from tournaments. so if you take 60 seconds to look up all my accounts on sc2ranks (NA, EU and KR), you'll find i've played just a bit over 700 ladder games, and that's all the games i've played. i dont even 2v2/3v3/4v4 at all. and a large chunk of those games aren't real practice. i brush up for a tournament and then get out of shape. then i gotta take 30-50 games to brush up again. it's honestly fucking pathetic.
I don't give two shits about this fake melodrama caused by Canucklehead, but DUDE, I hope you do practice more.
If I had half the potential you have I'd quit my stinking-ass job and try my hand at pro-gaming.
I'm totally banking on you doing big things this year. We're rooting for ya. SOTG for life motherfuckers!
It's kinda sad that the vocal majority is actually the minority that just bm's them and well, everything. So I hope they realize that. Great show once again and I'm still hoping for that Tasteless on the show!
Keep on rockin' Tyler. Most people don't know yet but you're going to win TSL3.
