Stephano is so naturally gifted you could tell that Tyler, Day9, QXC were getting a little bummed by his non-chalance.

His advice might as well been, "Make stuff that makes sense when you need to. Then win!"

Yeah it was funny how Day9 kept trying to analyze how stephano played and he basically said he builds some shit and wins, and also how he never looks at his replays either.

Haha yeah, Day9 has a tendency to overanalyze the play of instinctive players like Stephano or HuK, whereas most of the time it's just "Well, I build workers and shit that can attack, then micro some, and wait for the gg".

"And sometimes I make DTs."
:D

Edit: What I mean is that it can be analyzed and it's not simplistic at all, but oftentimes the player is not even conscious of why he makes such decisions, and the style is very hard to reproduce with the same degree of success.

Stephano's SC2 methods just seem so casual and seemingly flies in the face of all the things that Day9 preaches! Stephano barely watches replays and just inuitively uses build orders. Stephano did admit to being stumped wrt Polt's play due to not having a sufficient level Terran training partner to practice new tactics. Thorzain is not enough. Maybe Dragon joining Millenium will help.

If Polt is living in the same house this week, maybe Stephano could strike up a friendship with him and arrange some Terran practice with Polt or some of Polt's Korean contacts.

Will be very interesting to see whether Tyler and Stephano meet at the Lone Star. Tyler seemed to be fishing for info about Stephano's weaknesses against Protoss. White-Ra has been getting crushed all week by Stephano, so maybe he could give some tips, or not!

I think Millenium is still viewed as some small autarcic french team, and everyone forgets that they actually have some awesome players ...
Slasher said earlier in Lo3 that Feast should look for a bigger team. I mean... Srsly?

Yea, I heard that also I dont think Slasher understand how big Millinenium are. They got the biggest Esport site in french and are one of the richest teams in the scene.

In past games, such as WC3, Milenium was a really minor team and I admit to for some reason holding on to the same image of them. Its hard to remember they are a good team now.

whenever people talk about the casual methods vs over analysing i always reply the same way. i remember roughly 6 months after launch all of the 'pros' had decided that 6 pooling was for noobs and only an idiot couldnt defend it after they see it coming, even if it gets in your base you just stomp it with workers.

then this guy named actionjesus came along and did ok exclusively 6pooling and other cheeses. made the people who were too busy examining 1 second timing differences to work on the basics look pretty silly.

this trend continues to this day. im not saying there isnt value in understanding timings, and the meta game and this and that, but so many people who play every month for large sum of money are still lacking in just basic 'make stuff, go attack, maybe do some micro gg'

as players improve, the number of people who are successful without these core skills down 100% continues to decrease, but people like to declare 6pooling 'done' or cheesing 'done', but then it always comes back, even as just a counterplay to expectation and makes people making sweeping statements look silly again.

Basically the Americans "specialist" of the sc2 scene see TL and EG that's it. They sometimes consider Mouz and Empire. I hope Millenium beating EG 3-0 without Stephano will make them think.

On an another aspect I think Tyler, QxC and Day9 seemed sort of upset at Stephano. He totally contradicts their idea of spending hours to analyze the game and fully dedicate to the game. They don't understand the idea of just playing it and trying stuff. If it doesn't work you just adjust. Another thing is that 5-6 hours is the perfect amount of training hours, because after that you loose "training productivity".

I think its becuase of the races. You cant just play on the fly with Terran and Protoss. But since zerg is a reactive race you can do that with good scouting. I dont think they are upset with stephano I got the feeling they liked him alot and gaved them a good laugh but yea they are proberly wondering wtf do this kid do that make him so succesfull.

And frankly I dont think we will ever get an explanation. It seems Stephano doesnt even know. God given talent

Why would dragon help? Dragon is a fun streamer but he isn't even a pro. Thorzain is leagues higher than Dragon.

I thought Dragon was supposed to be good. Why would Millenium pick him up otherwise? I have not seen him play. Are you saying Dragon is no good?

He has a huge fanbase which makes him an asset in itself. Also I think some people are overrating him, but also underrating him like this sir. He is still a good terran on foreign standards, and definitely at a pro level.

I've heard Stephano say that the issue with Thorzain isn't the quality of his play, but the fact that Thorzain is so rarely available for practice. How 'bout that ZvP balance claim though?

Dragon is in no way better than any of the top foreigner Terrans, Millenium picked him up because he's popular and draws attention to them (just like why Quantic picked up Destiny). People should remember that being Korean doesn't suddenly make you some sort of god at SC2, Dragon hasn't beaten anyone of note in his recent tournament history.

Since LoL's community is a horrendous cesspit in which far worse thing are said on a very, very regular basis, somehow I doubt that's got anything to do with it's success.

I think you missed the obvious part. LoL is F2P. I could make 15 accounts in under 5 minutes, of which I could play a game on all of them and use every racial slur in the book.

For me to do that on SC2, I have to be willing to risk my 60$ copy of SC2.

F2P environment will always be a bit more vulgur and childish, simply because its free to play.

So which is it? Is it nicer than this community or is it vulgar and childish? You've said both and made an excuse for the LoL community when trying to tout it as nicer than the starcraft one.

This may blow your mind: it's not the x game or y game community, this shit has been around since DWANGO, since Kali, since my buddy paul called me a fag nigger bitch for scout tower rushing him in warcraft 2 over fricken direct dialup.

Stop with the x community versus y community, this is the gaming community as a whole.

I am talking about the pro community, not random joe shmoes. As said earlier, Grackis used racist language in the LoL community and now he is completely gone because he was outcasted from the community. Orb uses racist language and half of the community supports him. Like I said before, I like the SC2 scene better, but LoL is doing things right when it comes to people like Orb in their community.
