Maybe Day9 could do the same but chooses not to, but I doubt it. I'm not saying that Day9 cannot take part in discussion with these guys, but saying that they are all on the same level to what comes to knowledge of the game is imho not true.
I think Day9 can talk in depth with IdrA and Artosis but chooses to simplify it for the viewers. When he casts games, I think, he wants the viewers, even those in lower leagues, to understand the strategies. I have no doubt he could go into great detail about them if he so wished.
But really only day9 knows for certain. Honestly I wouldn't find as much enjoyment without Day9's infectious laughter.
I hope there's a show tonight. With the MLG Global Inv. starting tonight I am a bit weary of there being one. But hopefully so <3

If you ever catch him on a stream you will see day9 has some serious game knowledge. I remember seeing him on JPs and Spanishiwas streams and the dude was money on his advice and reading the opponent. But day9 realizes his target audience is at a lower level and caters his casting towards them.
And there is a show tonight, JP tweeted about it.

I hope to hear comments about the chat-spam war that seems to popped up over the weekend. Maybe Geoff can pull IdrA onto stream to hear his comments.
Additionally, there have been some patch notes developments recently, should be a very interesting show!

Day9 adds little to SOTG these days. I don't know if he's out of touch or just wants to protect his image but it's been a long, long time since he said anything interesting on SOTG. His dailies have gotten a bit stale recently too.

I <3 day9 the personality, humor and general awesomeness he adds is worth any abundance of neutral stances. I think people forget that sotg is at its core a bunch of friends getting together to discuss SC2. Day9 is a friend and if they want him on they should keep him on.

The biggest problem with Day9 is................................ he's never actually there? And when he is he leaves early anyway... dont mind him at all but might just be better to be able to prepare a guest in advance each week rather than rush to get one when he doesnt show up or have no one when he leaves.

so apparently Shawn can't just be a chill guy on the show like everyone else and has to be mr know it all plott 24/7 even off the daily.
why are people apparently "upset" or "unsatisfied"? expecting someone to act a certain way 24/7 in all his appearances is just dumb.
just enjoy the show god damn it.

They should talk to Destiny and Sheth tonight since they are doing the Doctors Without Boarders charity drive. SotG would help the drive so much.

To the Day9 fans simply responding "if you don't like it don't watch," you aren't really contributing to the discussion here. Being able to take criticism is an important part in improving your work in any profession.
To the SOTG fans calling for his removal or change to his style on the show, is that what you really want? I view Day9 as a fairly rational person and appreciate the steadied hand form of moderation he brings to the show. He chooses his words carefully on controversial topics and is hesitant to jump to conclusions (granted he's not the only one). While it may not offer you the knee jerk sensationalist entertainment that does so well on cable news networks, I view it as critical in ensuring a healthy development of the topics they cover.
Many community members emulate and echo their favorite pro's position on hot topics such as balance. If one of the more prominent shows on Starcraft featured nothing but controversial, polarizing heated debate, do you think that would have a constructive effect on the game and community? Day9's ability to challenge the viewpoints put forth on the show and ask that they all step back and really consider the full picture at times helps pull statements like "x is broken" or "it's impossible to win against x" back from being put into the echo chamber before they really are thoroughly discussed in public. I think that's extremely important for a community that mindlessly spams flavor of the month memes like "DAT FORCEFIELD" and "NO GG NO SKILL."

My thoughts on Day9. You can't doubt what he's doing is helpful for esports He really is a great guy and personality.
But nonetheless I miss the early dailies when he was talking about stuff I had noooo idea he was talking about at a high D+ level. Talking about how brilliant pro players were and stuff. Even his early sc2 stuff was insightful.
And sure, now it's useful, and he's real funny, but it's not the same The same ideas seem to be getting stale.

Agreed I would love to see him get more advanced and blow my mind with his ideas

The thing about Day9's contributions to the show recently is that he can talk a lot about anything, without actually saying anything. We can listen to him talk for 5 minutes, but nothing really gets communicated.
I'm not asking for his removal, myself, but I'd like him to more direct in his answers and less diplomatic and neutral.

Yup, I watching him pretty religiously until he started up SC2, I have caught some of them, but nowadays its just too generalized, doesnt go much in-depth. This is great for newbies/lower skilled players but its pretty useless to me as far as helping me improve.
I don't blame him for dumbing it down, gets a larger casual audience so more viewers but eh.....

Is he getting more stale or are we becoming more clever?
It's all relative.

It's not that he's not chill, or has to be mr. know-it all. He just has the same few lines that he likes to use and its getting pretty old pretty quickly. If he just went into specifics a bit more it would be better. Artosis likes to say the same thing a lot as well, however normally he'll also add a statement or two that gives it some validity.
I agree that a lot of this bashing is bad, but I hope Day9 looks at some posts in a positive light and works to improve. And its not that we hate him and want him to fail, but there's room for improvement.

Agreed I would love to see him get more advanced and blow my mind with his ideas He's a masters level player, same league as JP. He doesn't have any mind blowing ideas. I don't know why people put him up to this god status when he was no better than incontrol, tyler, sen, mondragon, ret or Idra at brood war and is far, far worse than all of them at Sc2.

If this was State of the Game of Thrones this would be the scene where Barristan Selmy (Day 9) gets dismissed by Joff (all of you haters).

I thought i was gonna miss SOTG tonight! Turns out movie starts at 930 FUCK YEA
