It's probably a good decision to take a break. I think Jp should take a 3-4 week break and comeback better and more organized. "Do a wheat".
I really like what you do for the community JP! The professionalism that JP and especially Wheat brings to SC2 is just priceless.
As for Geoff. He was the best part of sotg but he wasn't the show and I do think it was a good decision for him to take a step back. Good luck with all your projects and I hope you are a guest as much as idra is!!

Godamnit geoff..seems like ITG just killed SOTG for me :C

Yes not ever tournaments has a randomized top 3 between all 3 races. You win some you lose some.

You forgot IPL and the current zerg domination in NASL :D

I watched an episode of ITG and the highlight of the show was a prank call for Idra, going as far as "Idra, why are you such a fu-" before getting cut off. That was hilarious. The rest of the show was boring as hell. There's no character, there's no drama, there's no humor. It's truly a DJwheat'ish show.
SotG is a million times better than ITG. I don't have a lot against DJwheat, but I think he should stop trying to cover so much of SC2. Please leave the SotG format for SotG.

The last thing the SC2 community needs right now is more drama, so I hope to hell that these theories of the EG guys being forced away from sotg aren't true.
However I can't help thinking that they make a lot of sense. The whole thing seems a bit shady. Incontrol quitting SotG over ITG? Not even returning as a guest? IdrA having to be "cleared" to be on the show next week? Taking into account how heavily involved EG is with ITG, it doesn't seem unreasonable to think that there may be a connection there. I hope to hell that I'm just being paranoid and that someone who knows the facts will come in and tell me how stupid, but until then I can't help but feel a bit uneasy as to where the growth of the industry might be taking us.
The best thing about the SC community for me has always been the level of interaction between pros/casters and their fans. SotG has always felt like the purest example of that, just some guys chilling and chatting, sharing their thoughts with whoever cares to tune in. Players chatting to us as they stream, JP and friends commenting the NASL, drunk casts and MLG afterparties, these are things that we have grown to take for granted. Is the removal of such privileges the price that has to be paid for SC2 to grow?
If that is the case, then honestly I really don't want to see it grow.

Why didn't they wanna talk about Sean going full time SC2?

What..? Geoff is leaving sotg? that just sucks..

ITG and SOTG are two very different shows.
ITG is more like Day9's Daily, it's there to help people. SOTG is there to entertain and sum up the week with enjoyable banter.

NOOooo Geoff, don't quit SOTG
Anyway now that he's gone let's talk about the replacement, what are our options here? We can even have TLO on the show now
|
there's really no replacement. that really sucks he's what got me into sotg/competitive sc2 in the first place (ever since the incontrol stuck in platinum video LOLOL)
|
sure hope Scoots isn't forcing him to quit SoTG and that Inc will come and give an explanation.
|
with people talking of viewership declining due to inc leaving id actually like to know what the current numbers are? whats your average/highest amount of viewers per episode. what are the download numbers from blip and itunes etc. just curious
|
He's obviously hiding some reasoning behind him leaving the show, he's stating he needs to focus on ITG and playing more. He will probably not even return as a guest? There's gotta be some outside factors that is stopping him from doing this show. It doesn't feel like Geoff randomly decides he doesn't want to do the one show that has given him so much praise and attention and that he's repeatedly said he loves doing.
Its a real shame that SOTG, probably the most successful podcast of any videogame comes to a premature end so early.
Really, it was the hosts that made the show great. JP Geoff Tyler and Day9. Now that one of the most prominent hosts of this show leaves the magic is gone.
I don't even play SC2 much, I dont enjoy the game in that regard. I like the community and the scene around it and this is hurting that scene Ive grown to like so much.

Hahaha epic last episode with Geoff about the swedes I'm personaly from norway and I can clealy say that the reason why sweden has so many good sc2 gamer is a good culture for it and as naniwa sad, dreamhack.
The cold weather theory by Huk is the most stupid thing I've heard(Geoff was just trying to be funny, so you can't call that stupid).
|
If InTroll is leaving to make more time for playing, that is great news to me. He looks very busy with a lot of projects while his gaming/ results suffer the most. All the luck in the world as far as your pro gaming career goes and hope to see you get consistent good results as you are one of the most intelligent players out there.
Now with Geoff gone, i hope Day[9] will be a regular on the show. Love you guys!

I really doubt that it has anything to do with EG, any good manager (which Scoots seems to be) would be glad to have their players on a popular show plugging their sponsors and getting the team's name out there. SotG doesn't have any sponsors, so it's not like there's a conflict there.
IdrA needing to be "cleared" to be on next week more likely has to do with his practice schedule for MLG and his other obligations with EGMCS and stuff like that, and Geoff leaving probably is just a matter of being too busy and having to make a tough choice for his own sanity.

If it has nothing to do with it he could come out and say it

It's funny that over the past five pages still the only people balance whining are Zerg.
