They did a "viewing party" where they commented on the games. No restreaming, obviously, but a lot of people just muted Tastosis because the games were pretty terrible.

He uses some sources to support his point, and it's his freedom to think that bw is more enjoyable for him than sc2, by saying that bw is more estabilished/serious/whatever. And that's completely TRUE, noone in his right mind is gonna deny that, or else, he's a clown. Sc2 is only a year old, and even if it "stands" on the shoulders of bw/wc3, it's not there yet (expecially bw ofc). Noone can blame him for preferring a more enstabilished "activity" over a newer one. This should be obvious jeez.... If it wasn't a TL staff that made a post/article like that, another poster would have been warned and the thread locked. Creating that article pretty much asked for a debate and reaction like this. It would suck for an article to come out that would make fun of BW for the BW fans on the site so I don't know what kind of reaction they expected while releasing it. Should there be an article to say something like BW graphics are old and people should stop watching it and learn to move on instead of clinging to the past? But I agree BW is more established and serious but no need to write an article about it for upsetting much of the community. It's like how people don't like soccer in america as much as other sports but people don't write articles on ESPN sites stating why soccer is inferior to like american football or vice versa; or an article debating how someone can watch bowling pros over soccer pros due to lack of athleticism. It just seems, and the way the article was worded, that the publisher wasn't respectful of the "other" community even if I can agree with article to a certain extent.

JP please post it! yea... my friend and I had some drinks before the GSL Finals started. well, he fell asleep, and I had GSL/JP's Viewing Party on while I wondered around WoW. Then I got distracted by herbalism for 3 hrs... kinda forgot to wake him up. Sorry, bro. ![]() Anyway, the Viewing Party was hilarious!!! In hindsight, I feel really bad that some people missed it. some highlights: - iNcontroL's blatantly offensive black slave StarCraft caster impression: "uh uh, dat dere playa? well dat's EG IdrA! An' he be playin' against... uh, I dunno, massa. I dun' read too good" - Sundance DiGiovanni giving out his email live on air and getting mass trolled. - the different types of MLG players: SC2 players (mild-mannered), Halo players (get in fist fights after the matches), and Smash Bros players (bring handguns to the tournaments) - iNcontroL calling Hot_Bid "Kennigit" all night long (because his name is Ken???) - IdrA acknowledging he won't be able to complain about zerg imbalance anymore, since they now have 3 GSL victories. - iNcontroL's great native american Taco Bell prank call: "Greetings. My name Chief Running Buffalo. I need 35 tacos for my people. We will arrive on the day of the great feast of the moon. [uh, ok... so when are you coming in?] The sacred feast of the moon is well-known among my people. [yeah, ok, I'm not one of your people...]" - will Anna's annoying State of the Game cameos cost her Miss USA votes? does she really care? ♥

As people have said, if someone wrote that nice of an article with stats, pictures, quotes from players and interviews they would probably be looked at for the SC2 writing staff. And yes, there are plenty of editorials on sports sites here in the US that people have on why they can't get into soccer.

Also worth noting was inControL picking out random blogs and threads to be trolled by all those watching, and Hot_Bid's quick thread closing apm

- iNcontroL's blatantly offensive black slave StarCraft caster impression: "uh uh, dat dere playa? well dat's EG IdrA! An' he be playin' against... uh, I dunno, massa. I dun' read too good" If this is accurate, that's unbelievably gross and any community that accepts/celebrates that is diminished by it. I know no one cares what my opinion is, and it's not like I've been a part of this community anyway, but I would ashamed of myself if I didn't speak up and say, "That's not in any way acceptable."

How immature are you that you get offended by words. If you were in any way as mature as you probably think you are, you'd realize it's just words and quit being some sort of advocate for something that doesn't offend you because you are probably white.

As far as I can recall, the thread didn't really go too far into the practise situation in SC2. It touched it, sure, but mainly it was just about how bad SC2 players are in comparison to BW players. The layout of the thread is to first show how bad SC2 players are, and then to show how good BW players are, and throw in quotes from their coaches to prove it. My take on it is that SC2 right now is the best it can be, however as with almost every other task that any human being's ever done, there will be someone who's better at it sometime in the future. Is it really valid to call the SC2 scene a farce (once again, right before a TSL finals) because at some arbitrary point in the future there might be players who are better at SC2 than there's now? To me it just sounds like he's venting, and that doesn't really deserve a first page spot imho, as it just further divides the SC2 and SC:BW communities on the site. Edit: He also never really speaks from his own point of view. He states everything as fact, not as his opinion, which further increases the flame value as some people don't agree. Personally I just think it's unnecessary, and something he just as well could've kept for himself. I think it just might cause a few people to lose interest in watching the game and that's about it. Edit x2: Also he assumes that players can't possibly change things up after a year. The BW stats were taken over a year ago, and are applied to what they are now. I know I was way worse at SC2 a year ago.. I didn't even play it, but that doesn't mean I'm bad, because I was bad then... I just don't see the logic. I don't understand this. Why does his opinion and article have to change the way you view SC2? Did you really think you were already watching SC2 at the highest level it will achieve? If I thought that, I would already be back playing BW. It's awesome that SC2 has so much more potential for an amazing player to come take advantage of. This will guarantee that SC2 stays fresh, and that strategies and the gameplay will change as players become able to execute more difficult actions. How can you say that he should have kept his opinions to himself? He wrote a great article and had a lot of support for his points. Whether they are opinionated or not, at least he backed his opinions up with facts. I think what has happened is that this article has offended many people, but because it was well thought out and well written, people cannot attack what the article says. Instead they are attacking who wrote the article, and complaining that the article shouldn't have been written in the first place. I thought it was a great read, and I still love SC2. What is the big deal?
