I think players should of course dress well and groom before playing on a LAN, I'm not saying everyone should be like insanely good looking but there's a vast difference in being a sloth and taking care of yourself. I think TLO represented Liquid just fine in the showmatch, sure he was abit nervous but he'll overcome that overtime. I'm sure he'll be alot less so on Gamescom!

Gaming is still pure and (for the most part) innocent. The day gamers start becoming fake celebs is the day hopeful up and comers no longer relate. "He looks and dresses like Brad Pitt, but he plays Starcraft for 12 hours a day?" When I see a bespeckled young kid with buck teeth owning people in Starcraft, I think to myself "He plays all day and every day, he deserves this." By the way, I love Grubby and all, but I just have this strange feeling his "wife" is going to leave him when he's no longer bringing in the tournament cash.

This is a video game that everybody is going to dump in 10 years when Starcraft 3 comes out. It's hard for the world to take a group of people seriously and want to give them long-term sponsorship when they can't stick to any activity for more than 10 years.

Its not the progamers who need to adapt to the western society, its the western society that needs to adapt to the progamers way of living.

Except most Korean progammers already keep their appearance in pretty good shape. It's only western gamers who generally look like slobs.

For men, wide hips and large breasts (showing fertility), for women, things like height, status, wealth are found attractive. LOL at this. Dumbest post I've ever read. Just stereotypes that fit your current generation is all that is. Ask a typical american white guy what he thinks about a fat chick and he'll turn away in disgust. Ask that white guys great great great grandfather whos job revolved around artistic renditions of overweight women of that era, and he'll certainly have a different opinion. Your opinion on what most people like is simply based on what _this_ generation likes and has no relation whatsoever to "evolution". You like big tits because that's all you ever hear talked about anymore around you. I'm sure other countries who aren't spoonfed american values of this current generation like different traits.

They're bad for materialistic type businesses because of that exact reason, which is a good thing. Nothing is worse than seeing some fake ass celebrity in $5000 jewelry and expensive ass jeans STILL photoshopped to death in an attempt to appeal to those visual types trying to chase an impossible dream. This stubbornness is why e-sports will never fully take off in the west. The stereotypical image of a gamer is not good. And in the end, that truly does matter. If people want e-sports to become big in the west, you need to drop that "rage against the machine" mentality you picked up in high school. To survive in the western capitalist society as a viable source of entertainment, you must play into a level of materialism. "Rich & successful athletes" need to appear the part.
