In that case, SC2Ranks wasn't inaccurate, it was just more up to date.
Both are disproved by the fact that one player who is about 200 points behind another person in his divison, is ranked by blizzard almost 50 spots ahead. In fact, the higher ranked player, but with less points, says he has at no point been ahead of the other player, and yet Blizzard put the second player much lower.

Read the context of the post and what it was responding to, travis is not talking about right now but when it was based off of Diamond.

Before, you could search a persons name for example shadowed, and it would find any names that are "shadowed" including the capitalized letters. Now, it has to be EXACTLY like the name, including the caps, why?

Can you please make the text Last 25 Matches, Last 10 replays and Last 10 vods clickable as well? I always try to click that first before remembering that only the + sign actually does something. Thanks!

Sure, will get to it tonight.

It only has to be exact in casing, you can still do inexact matches. Case insensitive matching will be back soonish.

Things that I would find useful;
1) A win/loss versus specific races. I currently know that I lose to Zerg more than any other race, but I'd be interested in knowing exactly by how much. (Not sure if this is even possible.)
2) The ability to update the information in the current graph. It takes uber long to update as is. (I'd also still like more graph options, heh.)
3) Make the 1v1 stats the highest priority to refresh. As is, 4v4 and 2v2 seem to be really fast. 1v1 takes a few minutes.
4) Per group standings. Examples;
A gold user could see where he stands against all other golds. A gold user could also see where he stands globally. A gold user could also see the median points in his group.
Just some ideas. I really like your site and use it all the time!

1) Not possible, you'd have to parse every replay you've ever had to get that kind of info
2) It should have a 3 hour delay on the graph of the current month, all time and anything else should be a 12 hour delay. Logs are generated every 8 hours unless you're in the top 100. Or are you in the top 100 and that's what you're asking about, or are you noticing longer delays?
3) When you queue a refresh, it puts them into a giant queue and they get processed by time created, in theory 1v1 should be first, but it doesn't prioritize any bracket, it's just put into a queue and processed.
4) Comparing across leagues won't happen right now because it's not accurate. Rankings are already done by league/region and league/worldwide. You can find averages on league at http://sc2ranks.com/stats/league/all/1/all but I'll see about putting it on the team page too.
Thanks for the suggestions!

maybe it has something to do with this.
Blizzard top 200. 5 out of the top 10, Zergs. scranks. 2 out of the top 20, Zergs.
I doubt it though. Considering how messed up everyone else on the list is. Best example in my mind is kowi dropping from 4th to 59th and hes been super active and has kept top 3 on sc2ranks. There doesn't seem to be any relationship between the blizzard top 200 list and sc2ranks anymore, lol. Actually there doesn't seem to be a relationship with the blizzard top list and ANYTHING including their own divisions anymore.

This week was definitely a fluke and I've reached out to the community team for an explanation. I did learn that a different calculation was used, but that doesn't really get us any closer to finding what that calculation was.

Yea who knows, They screwed it up hard. All i know is i'm extremely disappointed because i was trying to be much higher on the list this week. Guess imma need to find a new goal for myself than trying to be ranked high on the top 200 list. Actually i should prob start playing in tournaments...

Blizzard did something wonky with the top 200 this week. It's not really reliable as Excal mentions above.

Shadowed: Is there a way through the API to parse out the Top 200 Master League players? I see plenty of ways to access single players and individual divisions, but is there a way to basically retrieve what you see on the front page?
|
No there isn't. API access to the rankings isn't something that will be added, the closet you can do is get a list of players in a custom division.
|
I suppose that means I'll have to download the database and parse the data that way. Working on auto-generating the eligible players for our (Thundertoss and I) Top 200 King of the Hill. Will you be making the Master League data available soon?
Edit: Well, on second look, the "DB Data" page, even though it says "These are generated daily", was last updated on Tue Oct 05 12:01:26 UTC 2010. That's not good.

Perhaps it is based on their adjusted skill formula? Could potentially account for zergs being placed higher if there is indeed a Z underpowered imbalance.

The database is specifically anonymized, I wouldn't provide a dump that lets you get everything
I don't know what you're trying to do specific with a player list though. You have a list of X players, and you want to find the top 200 of them? If so, just use the mass API and make X / 100 requests to get the points and sort that.
Another option would be to use the custom division setup, add everyone to a division, sort by points, grab the top 200 of that.
|
I don't have a list of players ahead of time. I have an application generating a spreadsheet containing the Top 200 Master League player names in North America. Basically only trying to get the names, and we would combine the list of players with that of Blizzard's Top 200. Custom divisions won't work because it would require, theoretically, adding every single Master League player and sorting by points.
During our Top 200 KOTH, we always have a Google Doc spreadsheet showing the list of players that are eligible to play and participate in that week's event. The list consists of the combined Top 200 from SC2Ranks and Blizzard Top 200. Previously we manually looked up players as they requested to play mid-stream.
I may, if you don't mind, resort to scraping. I'm just grabbing the simple list of names on http://sc2ranks.com/ranks/us/master/1/all/points/0 and http://sc2ranks.com/ranks/us/master/1/all/points/100 once a week.

This would be really amazing to have. As it is, the site is already fantastic and better than anything I hoped for from blizzard.

All you need is a list of names in the top 200, that's it? Any preference on format, linebreak separated, json, xml?
I can give you a quick private API to do that.
