On different issue hope it not going way of value fukin aussies over like with left 4 dead 2 a over top nefing making the game unpleasant experience, never playing value game again on principle, maybe someone in activision dont like aussies lol.

How do you do the pinging to the SEA/US server? I do not think there is a US/Europe/SEA version of boxed SC2. They are all the same, it is at which website(US/Europe/SEA) you register your key to that decides which server you are going to play in.

Was thinking of doing a poll about this as well. I guess I'll buy the sea version and maybe the digital version later on.
|
I'm getting the SEA version.
|
I haven't read anything about it, but from this thread it seems that people are saying serial keys are pre-set to regions in the factory?
I thought it's like beta when you add the key to the battle net account it will determine which regions your at.
|
So, I have optus internet and I pre-ordered already. I'm screwed aren't I?
|
Two copies. Optus and I've already paid off a pre-order so I am getting a digital copy from the states. Not happy about it, but I want to play this game enough to suck it up.
If I had known earlier I might not have preordered. At least the SEA version will come in handy because it is too difficult to explain the region locking to my friends. They just don't seem to understand it.

I haven't really kept up to date with this so I have a couple questions.
If I go to a store like EB Games, JBHiFi or whatever. Which version will they be selling? Or will they have both?

SEA version only, unless the store specifically imports USA versions, in which case they will for sure be letting you know. But this will not happen with first batches, and not likely to happen from larger commercial entities like EB or JB, only smaller independent stores most likely.
Rule of thumb, every copy you see in a AUS/NZ/SG/MY etc store will be a SEA copy- the CD keys are SEA keys and will lock you to SEA, your account wont make a difference.
If you want a USA copy and don't know how, digital download it or import from a company like www.play-asia.com that specialize in imported products.

i bought 2 copies off eb.... one collectors and one normal retail.... Does that mean i will have 2 copies registered to sea, or do i have option to register one copy to sea and other to US servers?

They will both be SEA, and no according to Blizzard info lately you wont have an option to play on US servers with them. The CD Keys will lock your BNet account to SEA region.
If you want to play on US you have to specifically import a US box copy or buy the US digital download version.
|
Edit: few seconds late, ya, the CD keys for each region, according to that copy is locked to that region, there is no option.
|
If you could try logging in to beta-us.battle.net or whichever you registered your beta account to, you will actually notice that you can change the region and language you want to play with before activating your CD-Key. Let's say if you already register your CD key in the US server, you have to buy another copy and register in SEA server to play it there. So I am assuming the CD key is not region-locked. It is where you register your key that matters.

US version is cheaper - for more players, more money and more tournaments. So - obv the US version. Thank god I didn't buy the collectors edition!
|
CD-key is definitely region locked. If it wasn't, I'd simply buy a US CD-key for 10-20 dollars less and register it to SEA. Simple.
|
U.S version selling my SEA collectors in the future if it becomes worth it

Anyone has the source?

I'm buying the SEA version. I'm on Optus, I pre-ordered the collectors edition for $150 two days after it was announced. If I get really good at the game I may eventually get the digital version to play against US players.
