We would like to thank everyone who has participated in the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty beta test. You've done an admirable job of testing, and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback you provided during this critical phase of development. It's been a lot of fun; however, all good things must come to an end.
In preparation for the launch of the game on Tuesday, July 27, the beta servers will be brought offline by Monday, July 19. At that time, all beta accounts and character information will be reset and the ability to create forum posts and comments on the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty website (http://beta-us.battle.net/sc2/en/) will be unavailable until launch. In the meantime, we still encourage everyone to stay tuned to the website for exciting news and updates regarding the upcoming release.
Thank you again for your participation, and we'll see you soon on Battle.net! source

So much sooner than I expected.
It's already been widely spread around..but thanks...
But that means I only have 4 days to learn Protoss from scratch and get to Diamond league again
Time to mass some games!
8 days without Starcraft 2, whatever will we do? Be strong good citizens of TL.net, we must persevere!
I never knew this! [insert little blonde girl laugh]
Release date seems soooo far away
I survived over a month without beta, I think I can survive 8 days til release.
lol beta will end quicker than it seems then the last 8 days will be agonizing kill yourself painful
Yeah the one month was tough without the beta but it seems too soon since phase 2 rolled around. nonetheless. Release will be a... well, release!

Summer homework, college essays, work until sc2 comes out - and afterwards I'm stuck at band camp

When phase 2 started, they announced that beta was going to end on the 19th. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I'm sort of happy because it allows me to play TF2 with the Engineering update just starting.
OH no... ill have to play counterstrike again.
I wish they would have just ran beta through launch, rewarded us all with the multiplayer game at least until it would easily available (3 or 5 day shipping from launch date). Alas, we can only hope they gleaned useful information off beta to make the final product worth all the effort.
More time for NCAA Football 2011!!! YAY!!!
CAN'T WAIT TILL THE RELEASE!!!!
This was announced at the start of phase 2. But thanks anyway lol.
Question:
If the beta ends monday, does that mean within that 2 week timing they can produce all the disks and have the ready and shipped out by launch date? Seems like a short window to produce so many games.
dics are already produced and shit most likely. any last minute patch will just be a quick download after install.
son of a bitch
i forgot all about this i was totally expecting to be able to keep playing til like july 25
is day9's king of the beta tourny still happening or canceled?
Now I'll have time to check out the engineer update for team fortress.

The games have already been produced, and most likely shipped to the various regional distributors.
i love being on vacation in my mother´s house in brazil lolololol but i wished to have sc2 here to play at least the iddles times
or else it would be so painfull to withstand my vacations without starcraft 2 in the freezing chile !!!!!
ah sh*t f*c*ing w*ore! Well at least I had fun with SC2 while it lasted. I don't think I will be buying the game, as my gaming days might just be over (Link). Anyone with Ottawa Lan info, I am most definitely 100% always down for it. I'll be seeing you guys, was fun. Enjoyed Beta Phase1, and 2. Thanks for the great RUNS. Ew that sounds so bad, such bad timing for an "S" when you don't need it imo. I already do feel sad, because I seem to have lost interest in the BW/SC2 scene over the period of beta down-time. Yet I am also excited because I am 22, still living at home, and not doing a thing because of gaming. I'll miss posting random stupidity. On second thought who knows, when it comes to SC, no one ever knows where they will end up. Either playing it, or not. To be or not to be, that is the question.

fyi, all those discs are already done, printed, boxed, and ready to go.
It's all server work now.
The sooner phase 2 ends the sooner the game comes out and I get to play single player.
WHAT, does this mean I'll actually have to spend time in the real world? Well, I guess that's ok timing, I start my dream job next week.
Oh wow, I forgot there was other games. =(. Now I have to deal with the bull shit that is those other games.
Back to Boarderlands I guess
man I have not massed nearly as many games as I would have liked in phase 2. I'll probably end up playing the campaign for a little bit when it does come out because the ladders are going to be a Benny Hill movie of cheese and cute newbies going up and down the rankings.

So I'm not able to play much in beta phase 1 because of school, but that's alright I still have the summer to look forward to! Oh wait, I don't because I go on a month long road trip and the beta goes down the day I get back. Oh well, I guess it's only a week.
Looks like it's back to my xbox for the next week.
can't say i am surprised. they will need the next 10 days to fine tune the real deal. and besides, the real deal will be so awesome that 10 days isn't much, now we just play left4dead2...
Would anyone care to help me get some footage in-game before the beta is over? It would take like 10-15 minutes. US server, name is Cadaver. I'll be online.
I don't really mind the downtime. I'm going to play through the BW campaign again so I'm ready for SC2 single player.

LOL, what are you 8 years old? Blizzard doesn't owe you anything. You had the PRIVILEGE of beta testing, or in other words, playing this game before millions of other people around the world that wanted to. You should be happy it actually came back online for a full week. They could have just said "screw it, we'll wait for launch" or just turn it on for 1 day to stress test it. Seriously, what is wrong with you?

That's a shame. I'm getting my wisdom tooth out Monday and I'm going to be really bored at home for a few days. Would've liked to play the beta more.

I really enjoyed BC2... much better imo than MW2. I enjoy the squad based play. Well, both had their pluses either way, but my MW2 disc got scratched and I haven't bothered replacing it.
I've also been buzzing through Darksiders as well, hah.

Hi,
I just wanted to share a bad new i found this morning Damn activision
http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/news/a245153/call-of-duty-charging-by-end-of-2010.html
Activision will start charging gamers for playing the Call Of Duty series online by the end of the year, according to analyst Michael Pachter.
Speaking to Industry Gamers, Pachter said that consumers are increasingly shifting from packaged video games to online multiplayer, which they can enjoy for free.
He called on publishers to create a business model that "captures the value created by the multiplayer experience" or face declining revenues.
"While the shift has been great for consumers, who are enjoying an unprecedented, and largely free, game experience, it has been devastating for publishers and shareholders, who are seeing sales and profits decline," he said.
"We think that it is incumbent upon Activision, with the most popular multiplayer game, to take the first step to address monetisation of multiplayer.
"It is too early to tell whether that will be a monthly subscription, tournament entry fees, micro-transaction fees, or a combination of all three, but we expect to see the company take some action by year-end, when Call of Duty: Black Ops launches."
Last month, Activision chief executive Bobby Kotick said that if he could have one wish, he would make Call Of Duty "an online subscription service tomorrow".
Pachter said that Activison can tap into plenty of experience in creating successful subscription models via its partner Blizzard, which runs the World Of Warcraft series.
"It is likely that Activision will ease the pain of consumers, and will continue to offer some form of free multiplayer, at least for a while, but we believe it is imperative that the company begin to capture some value from the huge number of hours spent - 1.75 billion hours on Xbox Live alone through mid-April and we estimate that this figure is approaching four billion hours combined through today on Xbox Live and PSN," he said.
"We are quick to point out that the average single player game has an expected play time of under 30 hours, suggesting that a staggering 133 million units of equivalent game play have been spent (so far) playing Call Of Duty online, with Activision only seeing revenues from the original 20m units sold, plus an estimated eight million map packs sold."
Don't worry, 10 days is fair enough to wait, then we can play all we want with no interruptions :D
Does anyone know if there will be some kind of a tool for playing sc2 vs. AI like there was that green tea mod between beta phase 1 and 2?
What happened to the two week long phase 2? That's what I read some weeks ago at least. Or maybe it was "starting two weeks before release". Well, hope the campaign will released by the scene this week.
what time does it end, sunday at midnight?

Michael Pacther has been, in his life, correct about approximately one thing. And that's a generous estimate. He doesn't work for Activision-Blizzard, and he doesn't have any say with anything they do.
He was also the one who predicted that the Nintendo Wii would be a terrible failure 3 months out from its launch as the $600 PS3 would take off and be the most popular console in history.

In preparation for the launch of the game on Tuesday, July 27, the beta servers will be brought offline by Monday, July 19.
They used "by" and not "before". That's kind of muddy language. So I'm hoping that means it'll be running throughout Monday.
This is Blizzard though. Phase 1 was ending on the 1st. Phase 2 was starting in early July and running for a couple of weeks. Not even going into their history with past games.
Here's to hoping Blizzard fails to follow through one more time.

Seconding this, is there a way? Dragging map files to the executable doesn't seem to work.

I don't believe there is a way to play an AI without logging in. Which is what they are actually shutting down. But, If there is a way - PLZ SHARE!
I don't know how viable making your own server to play is, but I suppose that is a possible way to continue PvP or PvAi.

The world is over for the next 8 days. But in 8 days a new world will be born in which we all can play starcraft 2. =)
Well, at least I played it until the very last moment. GG. Can't wait until the game is out for real.
Lol, I've been playing, and two of my opponents randomly dropped before I even did anything. Stopped before I got dropped as well.

I'm very hyped as well. Playing with real friends makes the game that much more fun! 1v1 Quick Match is also very well built. Campaign will be awesome too! July 27th Let's Go!
It's been real beta. Now I can't wait for release. I guess I should spend the next week focusing on school. Hmm...

Bye beta, you were my summer buddy!
I try a 4v4 just before UE get down. 6 players get drop, it finish in a 1v1 with the eco of 4 players each. Was pretty epic.

RIP SC2 Beta.. Feb - July 2010...
She was a good beta. She was a kind beta. Although sometimes she was sometimes imbalanced and had PMS at seemingly regular periods of the month, she had her good days...
Please... let us take this time.. and share a few moments of silence for her passing. It is not goodbye, but goodnight, for one day when all is gone and dust to dust, we shall meet again... Amen.
Beta ends now, good way to celebrate my birthday, oh well least i got to play in phase two. Retail will be fun, see you guys there, and don't own me too much please.

Goodnight, Sweet Prince.
It was fun. Looking forward to release next week. Until then, at least we have King of the Beta and replays to watch!

Nooooooooooooo Q_Q
Gonna be a long week!
I wonder how many viewers Day9's King of the Beta stream will get now... :D
I am T_T because I didnt actually order the game yet.
where did the phase 2 beta save the temporary "recent" replay files?
My last game was a win. So I'm satisfied. They really need to improve battle.net though. Anyway, see you soon on battle.net ; )

Booted from my game and unable to log back in.
It's going to be a long week.
I have two books here I've been intending to read and a copy of the Big Libowski. They will keep my occupied in my free time. I hope.
