Just wanted to put a call out to StarCraft II casters/commentators who might be interested in adding their details to the Caster Database at RTS-Sanctuary.com. The database is for people with live casts and/or video libraries and you can read about it in the thread at http://rts-sanctuary.com/index.php?portal=SC2&showtopic=184562.
I know there have been a couple of different caster tracking systems posted about recently but most of those have tended to be stand-alone sites rather than being integrated with other community features like forums and replay posting (of course TL has the most comprehensive collection of casters and I'm not trying to compete with that .. I'd just like to have some information together for people when they are on the site). The system lets users add their own details directly into the database, creates a topic with an embedded viewer for their stream and/or VOD library, adds all their VODs into the library and monitors online status. Search functionality for the VOD library will be added soon.
So far I have set up the details for: /v/craft ArtosisTV AskJoshy bballguard Big TV BlizShouter Brandon TV Day9TV DiggitySC DrewN3O Forsti GLHF.it GLHF.tv Goatrope Good2Game Gretorp Guilloteen Hateplow HDHomerJ HDStarcraft HuK HuskyStarcraft iCCup.TV LS Gamers/NostalgiaTag MakhStarcraft N3O Gaming Nevake OMFG - eSports LIVE! PainUser Pigzy-F5 Polygon revue TV PsyStarcraft PullSC SchickySC SCLegacy sc2noobschool Shoutcraft Shigarex SirazTV SpookyCaster Starcraft: Legacy Starcraft Pulse TechnoBoyForce The Elitists TheSCChronicles TL_Grobyc TrumpSC vegasraab Vincere Wolfcast (list edited to reflect additions since posting)
If I've already set your stream up and you want to be able to edit the details you can register an account on the site and drop me a PM and I will transfer ownesrhip of the topic to you. If you want to add your own (or a favourite) stream just create an account and enter it into the database.

Great site great mods!
I love how its automated, detects if your online/offline. This way I don't have to go set status <3
Great job!
|
Interesting concept, I like it.
Gonna check it out now, thanks for posting
Edit: The layout of the site is phenomenal. I just can't seem to figure out where in the database to add myself? (Unless I simply "create new topic" under the casters section. Didn't want to start off incorrectly though )
|
You certainly keep your fingers on the pulse of the commentator community. That's pretty damn thorough.
|
That looks like an amazing resource. Thanks for posting it!
|
What details do you have on iCCup TV? We have more than one caster o.0
Also I have to be logged in to view it? Kinda meh
One of the great things about TL is that all of their community resources none of them require you to be logged in except to actually post.
|
90% of the site you don't need to be logged in to view .. it's basically just the 'content' sections (ie replays/downloads/casters) that we have set to require you to be logged in. It's not a big deal for me to change the settings .. but then it's also not very hard to make an account:p
The iCCup details entered atm are http://www.livestream.com/iccup for the stream and http://www.youtube.com/user/iCCupTV for the video library
|
iCCup TV uses Ustream. Not Livestream.
|
The thing is a lot of people when they see that screen that says you must login to view this section they will just close it. If it's a community resource it shouldn't be login only imo thats why TLPD and Liquipedia are so good. I mean I'm curious but usually I'm doing about 3-4 things at a time and browsing inbetween so it might take me a good week before I actually decide to make an account just to even look at it.
Plus what Alou said, the livestream is old, we use ustream now
|
not quite sure what I did there .. with the manual embeds I had before I had you with a ustream feed but somehow I changed it to livestream putting the details in the other day. I see you have ustream on both http://www.ustream.tv/user/iccuptv and http://www.ustream.tv/user/iccup-tv ... it seems the first one is yout main one now is that correct?
I have changed the settings so you don't need to be logged in to view any of the content
edit: we have a dow2 community as well and I noticed you guys are starting to get involved there as well
|
We are www.ustream.tv/channel/iccup-tv our username is iCCupTV but to view us you need to tune into the /channel/ link but tuning into the user page will show when the other channels go live. Our main channel is iCCup-tv but some of the gosucoaching use their own channels.
|
Thanks .. my bad I didn't even notice that one was the user link and the other was the channel
iccup-tv is what i had for you originally so i will change it back to that
|
I can't even register.......... each time i hit submit, it claims there's some data missing, or some error (unfortunately does not specify which one). I tried changing stuff, but no luck. Perhaps it's my browser, I'll see..
The initiative and the website look very helpful, great.
|
you should be able to see it without registering an account ... I had someone else who had that sort of error tryig to register an account a while ago but others are able to register fine so I'm not quite sure what is going on.

|
I don't see where to download it and registering doesn't work.
|
Based upon the feedback in this thread I'm removing the requirement to be logged in for anything other than actually posting content ... not quite sure why we still had some areas requiring login as we got rid of most of that some time ago. Might take me a while to track down all the modules that have checks in them but I'm working through them atm

That's pretty sick

What about poor Psyonic_Reaver? =(

/fistbump for including me

I haven't set up support for Justin.tv atm as it didn't seem that many casters were using that service ?
|
Can any caster join in on this? Ive only been casting on tl for like 3 weeks.
|
Awesome resource! Thanks for including me I really appreciate it.

Yes anyone can. Just register an account on the forums and go on the 'New Caster' button in the SC II Casters forum.
I'll also point out again that if any casters who already have a thread in the database want to update or change any details, then send Robo a PM and he can transfer ownership to you.

The idea is to let casters reach as many people as posible and for us to have an easy way to see your content so yes anyone can add their cast to the system - you don't need any special permission to do so.
I've updated the list in the OP to reflect additional channels that have been added.
|
SaharaDrac here, of SCLegacy. I see you have us, but not me individually. I also have my own channel: youtube.com/SaharaDrac

Psy the the SHIT

I've just finished adding a range of functions that let you manage the entries in your library of videos if you have control of the caster topic - you can hide/show videos, refresh details from your online library, edit the video title/description and lock/unlock automatic updating of the videos.
|
We have now added support for Justin.tv to the system. We have also added the ability to search the video database by key words in the video titles and descriptions.
|
I like the site,
It could use more links to youtube/ustream/livestream of streamed replays with commentary (to be in addition to the downloadable replay file). I see now that it does have some- my only criticism then is to make those VODs a bit more organized.
cool stuff

Hi, can you add http://www.youtube.com/user/theuentv
We're a group of friends recording game commentaries as well as sharing unit and strategy tips across the SC 2 community to help improve low and mid level players as well as share some emerging build orders.
Thanks!

Hi Lucid
I'm interested in understanding what you're looking for a bit better. Atm there are about 2000 VODs of various sorts from 60 odd casters that are visible in the database with about 3-400 other VODS that are set to not display because they are not relevant. You can see them all on the single page display http://rts-sanctuary.com/index.php?portal=SC2&act=casters&cmd=02. You can choose to: - view all the vods or just those from a single caster - search the VODs by key words in the titles and/or description - limit your search to periods of time like today, this week, this month, - view vods from a particular stye of library (eg youtube only) - order your search results by date published, views on the site or the caster in ascending or descending order
What else is it that you would like to see? I've thought about event tagging - I suspect the task would get overwhelming very quickly with the number of vods coming in but it could possibly be done. Certainly I'm thinking about ways to collect together the links to vods from particular events. I'm alos going to be adding the ability to comment on, and rate, individual vods but I probably won't go to the stage of making an individual forum topic for each vod.
Anyway give us your feedback and I'll see what I can do .. should start to see a lot more activity in the streaming and vods again now that the beta is starting again :D

Robo, When I first viewed the site I really did not take much time to examine all of its features. I just looked at it again and the problem is not organization, it is the lack of player tags on the VODs that are there. I understand it is a work in progress, so that's not a criticism as much as it is me stating a matter of fact. However, this is what gave me the impression that it was disorganized- as when I type in say "Sen" into the search option, nothing comes up. Usually I will search by player and not by caster whenever I think it is an option. I then searched a few casters and it is very well organized and easy to navigate. There is no problem with the caster side. In fact, the site is pretty awesome as far as that goes. I hope to see a way for users to search for individual players and have a search return that is relevant or better. If I can just type in "Sen" or "Demuslim" and a large amount of videos are brought up (albeit the same videos from the caster VOD library) then the site has become that much more valuable to me. That is my only criticism at this moment- a lot of people have certain individual players that they like to follow instead of, or in addition to, their favorite casters.
|
Thanks for the feedback. You are certainly able to search VoDs by the title and/or description but when I set the system up I set the minimum length for a key word to be 4 characters which is why something like Sen wouldn't work. I can change that down to 3 characters without any problem. However this still only works if the player's name has been included in the title or description of the replay and this isn't always the case. I have found that most of the vods that come from Youtube and BlipTV tend to be well-labelled but the ones that are from the stream services are generally not edited to anything useful (hint to casters here ... )
I do have the ability to use 'tags' on videos but the job of manually tagging every video would be ind of huge. I'm in the process of adding the ability to comment on/rate vods atm so I might also add the ability for users to add 'tags ' of their choice to vods to help with future searches. If anyone else has ideas about how to make the VoD library more usable I'd be interested to hear them.
|
Just a small update to say that we now have over 110 casters and over 8,300 VoDs entered into the database. About 2,000 of the VoDs are what I would characterise as simple recordings of live streams that haven't been edited or titled in any particular fashion and we have set up a mechanism to screen these from genral browsing of the library. That still leaves over 6000 VoDs that have been titled up and posted ... some people have been very busy.
Still open to anyone to add themselves the database .. new VoDs automatically appear on a recent content list on the main page of the site.
