As a temporary poinltess fix, you can edit your hosts file (Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts on win xp+) and add the line 127.0.0.1 us-beta.patch.battle.net This will let you get to the login screen where you can see new errors. Note that you must have patch 9 already installed.

It says it's downloading the same patch over and over but actually it's just an illusion and it is running through the 8-9 patches sequentially, so it's not really an infinite loop at all. This time it is actually an infinite loop so letting it run will serve no purpose (other than stress their servers) and we just need to wait for Blizzard to fix it.

If all else fails and you have a StarCraft II Beta\Versions\Base15097 folder, you do have the patch that we released today. You can use the StarCraft II Beta\Support\SC2Switcher.exe to start the game but Battle.net is currently down for the ladder reset. The patcher isn't really the issue I think for this reason. We just need to wait a few hours for the database to be reset and the server to go up. Edit: someone beat me to it.

1. OMGZ DOWNLOAD??? Yes, the download took freaking forever. Just let it download. Stop asking questions. 2. WAHHH INFINITE LOOP??? Yes, we are all getting an error where after it is done downloading, the patcher seems to be stuck in a loop. Blizzard has responded here, telling us to hold tight. 3. DO I NEED TO REINSTALL??? No. This will not solve anything. 4. DO I HAZ PATCH??? You can tell if you have it by navigating to Starcraft II Beta > Versions > you should be looking for a folder called "Base15097." If it is there, then you have the patch. If it's not there, you don't have the patch. Simple as that. 5. MY GAME WORKS!!! Even IF you were to get the game started, it wouldn't matter because Blizzard took Battle.net offline to do some upgrades. Again, sit tight and just WAIT for their response. /passiveaggressive ![]()

Blizzard Updater was unable to read the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II Beta\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\Base.SC2Assets". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at C:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the update. (The data being read was "Assets\Sounds\Uni\Ambience\Tilesets\Ambience_Redstone.ogg", and the error code was 0.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. It's not working for anyone right now, Blizzard is working on it by resetting the Battle.net servers and databases, 2. When Blizzard finishes fixing everything, your patcher should resume normally. Just give it some time. 3. ??? 4. PROFIT!!!

(Converter::Load) Ted, it seems there is most likely a problem with your game files. Where are you installing it from? Where did you download the SCII game files? For the time being if you're dieing to play for whatever reason, open the editor, go into the Battle.net cache folder and find a map and open that up, and then do a 'test Document (CTRL+F9)' and you will be able to build stuff, if you want to face AI, change Player control to AI, and then do that. You'll still face the horrible very easy AI.

(The data being read was "Assets\Textures\planetview_marsaradiffuse2.dds", and the error code was 0.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. Blizzard's DRM agenda sucks. Every time this happens, they'll alienate their customers, every last one of whom wants to be able to use obvious offline features of the game whenever the servers are down. This will especially be the case once we've all paid money for this game. They're great game developers, but the lack of LAN and offline play is cruel and unsympathetic. No amount of game-designing genius will make this feel any different than that, and the gamers, the real heart and soul of StarCraft II, don't care how much business sense it makes (as they shouldn't). I wish they'd take a page from Valve's book and work on being both a AAA developer AND a great community supporter. It seems Blizzard's only goal really is money. cheers

When I say "it seems that Blizzard only cares about the money," what should already be obvious to the reader is that A) I know Blizzard is a company which, in the end, is motivated by profits first; and B) understanding this, I was only expressing the desire that they might (reasonably, I think) put an 'ideology' before the absolute maximization of profits. This seems especially obvious when they're making money hand over fist with WoW anyway and in light of the fact that they're going to make a fortune off SC2 no matter what. They'll make a fortune even if the game does get cracked to hell - which it obviously will, in spite of DRM (welcome to the future), Battle.Net's popularity is sure to last, though, because this time, it is sure to be the best. I don't know what Blizzard is afraid of. I think this opinion is valid, and the tone of this post and my previous one have been pretty tame. Yet flame?

Has anyone while patching have the client crash, thus forcing your CPU to go into BSOD? Happened to me 3 times trying to patch (no viruses, etc... checked that). Third time being after a fresh re installation of the game.

I get "Invalid version please try again later" note when I try to log in. Im not sure if this is because the patching messed up something or if its just that bnet is down. Anyone else having this problem? and Is europe bnet down atm? Same Problem yesterday the updater looped so I closed it and went to sleep :>. I started it few minutes ago again it tried to patch/dl but was done after few secs. After trying to log in I get the same error. When i put my email on it says something about being unable to connect to battle.net and that i should check for my internet conection. I cant post on bnet forum, since i dont have a beta profile due to the reset. I saw many post about that on bnet forums anyway, but not a single one of them was blue.

Then deleting any of the files I was downloading in the startcraft2 folder (the ones that looked like torrent files) and restarting the process. I think part of my starcraft2.mpq file was corrupted so I did the reinstall since while downloading something seemed to have been corrupted and prevented the patch from installing fully. But reinstalling the game and downloading from scratch fixed all of that ![]()

I've got my problem solved (almost). I didnt have time to read through all the pages, sorry if anyone has pointed this out, but i post this here so someone new can try if it works for them. I'm from VietNam, i've recieved my beta key from my friend a day ago, i was very eager to install it. But when making my Bnet account. I selected Vietnam as where i live, i was locked with Korean region. I didnt think it was a big deal because i can change the language to English. But after locked the beta key to my account, i realized that i cant change region and i'm stuck with korean's version. Now the problem with the patch. As some guys above said, it only patches to about patch4 and then THINK it's the final patch, when i start the game up , it crash. First i tried to download the patches manually and install, but it didnt work, i realized that there are patches for localized version also (EU, KR) , and those patches i downloaded manually didnt come with it Then i tried this method and it worked. At least right now it's downloading all the pactches (including regional patch) normally -Re-install SC2, open starcraft2.exe , let it update. -When it said, patched successful , do not hit the play button -Close the Launcher. -No in the folder SUPPORT, u see the reallist.stf. -Open itt with notepad, if u have like "set patchlist kr-beta.patch.battle.net:1120/patch" -Then change it to "set patchlist us-beta.patch.battle.net:1120/patch" -Open starcraft2.exe again, it will continue to update -Notice on the bar, see what version it's at, if it's not the lastest version, go to the support folder, then change the reallist.stf again -Then open starcraft2.exe, it should continue downloading and patching -Do this again and again until it's at the final patch, because the reallist.stf file got reset everytime a new patch apply -After it's at the lastest patch, u can enter the game, no crash. -Only Problem is: i cannot login for now both US and KR version, alot of people get this too, maybe blizz is having problem with Bnet edited, i screwed up the to-do order ![]()

Blizzard Updater was unable to read the file "D:\StarCraft II Beta\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\Base.SC2Assets". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at D:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the update. (The data being read was "Assets\Effects\Protoss\NullifierBeam\NullifierBeam.m3", and the error code was 0.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load) Can someone please help me out? Just to addon that, I reinstalled a tons of times and did not work. I also dled the patch manually and it did not work as well. Any ides?

Patch 9 gets so far and then an error about reading: "C:\StarCraft II Beta\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\Base.SC2Assets". Come up, I have reinstalled the game, downloaded the patches every way Google will tell me how (i.e. using BD and torrents). I am running as an admin, I have no anti-virus and I have reinstalled the game. It hurts! lol. If anyone has any info I'd be really grateful to hear about it I'm on the EU servers (from the UK)
