How is this a problem?

You're trying to hard, and by trying that hard you're really losing your dignity and maybe even some respect on these forums. You and the other guys who would be willing to go along with your idea lol. In the end its just counter-productive.
Prisoners dilemma was a good analogy The sinking platform into acid pit was a good analogy.
Even if you make it out, you lose respect.

You don't see the latter person giving away their key, do you? Why should the person who nominated themselves step down? Stepping down is like giving up a beta key. The people nominating themselves as as selfish as the people who opted in and used their keys for their own play instead of giving it to someone more deserving. Oh, I'm sorry. People who got beta keys from blizzard and used it for themselves aren't selfish, they're lucky.

This is sooo evil

I want a key, but cross me off the list so some other nerd can have it.

I thought I'd just point out that Tri[T]on also got a nomination from Random_Korean and pretty much was co-host of the Hello, Goodbye Tourny. That guy is legitimately deserving.

Sharing keys is against Blizzard's rules. Doesn't even remotely make sense for TL to do something blatantly out of line according to the company providing them with the keys.
Not to mention every thing else that's impractical with sharing keys.

I've got a feeling if not many people take thier names off then the few that did will get a key ><

Oh the cruelty! I found my name in the spoilered list and exclaimed a heartfelt "YESSSS!", only to then read the rest of the post. Suffice it to say, I hate you Hot_Bid. I'll resign my self-nomination for the greater good, but under protest! New posters who registered just for this couldn't care less if noone else gets a key and will stay on the list. Probably idiots like Dawkling will get a key, just you wait!

Oh just kidding. I didn't know it was against Blizzard's rules. I probably should've guessed it though.

Haha, this is brilliant! XD

I don't know what's worse...
Not chosen to be a participant in the contest or being chosen to participate in the contest.

This is at the same time the most brilliant and the most cruel thing I've ever seen on TL.
Hot_Bid, you are a sadistic bastard, you know that?
This is gonna be fun...

Hey
You can be as bitter as you want. But a thread asking for nominations for people that deserve a beta key resulting in 151 people with MOSTLY <50 posts nominating themselves is friggin hilarious. You can get angry at the cosmos for everyone who went through blizzard and was selfish enough to use the beta key they got on themselves.. that's fine if you wanna do that.
I'ma sit here and watch this unfold!

Okay, I just read through all of the self-nominating posts in the original Nomination thread. Yes, all 29 pages.
And what I have compiled is my own personal list of self-nominators I feel stand out/are more deserving than the others. I will not be including myself in this list, for I do not have a place in nominating myself once again. I will leave that up to the rest of the community if they feel it fit.
lolaloc [Page 1]: He isn't at the top of my list, but he's definitely higher than many of the self-nominators for requesting the key as a prize for a local tournament instead of using it for himself. He seems to really want to aid the SC2 scene in the Philippines to the best of his ability. nataziel [Page 3]: I don't see him on the list of people Hot_Bid put together on this thread, but he did nominate himself. He seems to have really put a passion toward the E-Sports scene, and really wants to do what he can to bridge the West and East together. I don't know if he would be able to, but I'd like to have faith. chirievalord [Page 5]: Much like lolaloc, he says that he wants the key to help the scene in his nation/culture. His plan is to supply Spanish SC2 commentaries of high level play. I'm all for providing a service to your people. Prozen [Page 15]: He seems to have already put quite an effort into sharing the knowledge he has acquired about SC2, and I feel that he will likely continue to do so if given his own key. Seems very interested in helping new RTS players find their peace with this unfamiliar territory.
addition: cloudJR: As someone else pointed out, he seems like he can become something of a positive addition to this community.
There were a couple others as well, but they are either not on the list, crossed themselves off, or are already nominated by others as well as themselves. These include jhNz and Chill.
After reading all of the posts, I realized even more that there are definitely many contributors out there who are immensely deserving of keys, and I hope that TL doesn't allow many of the keys to go to self-nominators, because there are so many out there that have already proved their worth to this great site.
