I just got a PM saying to check this thread out because my name is on the list, but it's crossed out already and I'm not sure why.

Okay,

I wasn't irrationally raging. Just venting.

Thanks for the humane responses.

You were basically supposed to post that you still wanted to remain in the competition by midnight last night but since you didn't, you were automatically taken off the list.

I gotta head to Austin to drop someone off, but I wish you guys the best of luck with the few hours remaining in this competition of sorts. Just stop for a second and think about it: Someone might be able to get a beta key. TeamLiquid is giving people beta keys! That's just awesome in its own right when you stop and think a second.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that at least in these last few hours, let's try to keep or get back our positive attitudes. This is something good, even great, happening for the TL community. Good luck to all.

This is one of the most interesting social experiments I've ever witnessed on the internet. Nice work TL mods.

As far as who deserves what and all, I think there are definitely people deserving that these keys could go to rather than the < 10 post people who just registered to nominate themselves. I hate saying this because coming from me (large post count, long time member) it sounds elitist, but I think all of these keys should go to people who have shown that they can write and contribute material to the community. You don't have to translate or stream to contribute, it's enough to just write thought-out posts and provide interesting discussion in threads. Even if you have less than 100 posts, it's easy to tell those who will improve the community and those who won't. Teamliquid has gotten a HUGE influx of members in the last year or so, and how well the site does largely depends on keeping the right kind of people around.

Regardless of what happens though, this has been interesting, and I wish good luck to those who are still on the list. There are many of you that are deserving and have already eliminated yourself. To you I say you are to be commended for your selflessness, even in the uncertainty of who will take the key that could have gone to you. God speed.

BEHOLD! PHILIPPINE ESPORTS!

Sadly, no SC... yet. But all of you can change it! You can assist in my crusade to get SC2 in there! OPT-OUT and yield! I believe the betakey is a STEPPING STONE for my quest. A quest to end the plague that is DotA! You don't believe me? I am zendex. Together with Lipton we hosted the Philippine Starleague last year. But because of how divided this country is (literally), we had to hold it online and restrict it for Filipino players.

I was rewarded humbly after. I was offered a spot to be the StarCraft head of tournaments and events in Mineski - an organization for Philippine Professional Gaming. As my first assignment I was asked to host a LAN tournament last January. They were pleased. So to capitalize my momentum, I have launched what could have been the 2nd Philippine StarLeague, the Alienware MPGL. Yes, sponsored by Alienware, Hitachi, Logitech, CoolerMaster, Asus and a few others.

You see, we need a transition. A single betakey will serve as a catalyst.

What say you?

People who have already dedicated themselves to the community are probably less in danger of being lost than people with no actual attachment to the community yet. Perhaps I have a lot to offer but didn't find this website until very recently.

Everyone who's still in the running, WATCH THIS VIDEO!

Edit: This clearly isn't working, I guess I started too late to try to organize something. Anyways, I guess I'll just leave this at good luck to everyone, in that case.

I agree, but there is literally only 1 criterion to go off of when giving these out, and that's posting quality. When you don't have that, it's completely random and in my opinion not ideal. TL mods work in mysterious ways though. Luckily I'm not in charge of this contest

To the community of TL,

This is my official opting in comment as we have reached the time line. I'd like to say a few things about my self-nomination.

I alike many of you have played SC since it came when I was 10 years old. The sheer fascination after my first game on battle.net was absolutely astonishing. I was memorized by the graphics(compared to Warcraft 2) and the game play. I immediatly fell in love with the game to the point of obsession as I would sit in school everyday counting down the hours til I could get home to play more starcraft with my friends. And so on went a few years of playing SC until Wc3 came out. Once Wc3 was out I decided to take a break from SC and try out a new RTS. I was a bit older now and could micro a lot better with my improved coordination. I had also become a lot better with computers and the internet. Thus, I began involvement on fan sites such as wcreplays, posting strategys, uploading replays, and helping train new people. I loved the community aspect of the game as I joined clans such XXX, and clan AX. By my sophmore year I had become a lvl 20(old amm for those who played wc3, which is about a C+ on iccup for SC). I decided to head back to SC and try to play competitively again. It was here that I discovered Team Liquid's website when I did a google search for Starcraft Strategy. I was intrigued by the websites design so I began to browse around the site for new SC strategies. I was fascinated by the intelligent posters on the forums, the friendly admins, and of course the almighty liquipedia. I created an account, yet was hesitant to post because all of the information I needed to prove was right in front of me. So I followed TL very closely watched as many reps and studied liquipedia like a school textbook. I played SC pretty heavily from this point all the way up to college where I finally had to put the game down for a year or two to focus on my school work. When SC2 was announced it was the sudden rebirth of my love for SC. I instantly restarted my iccup account and got back into the action that I had lvoed for the past 10 years. Since then I have focused on training SC until SC2 is released. After two years of wating and checking the SC2 site beta is finally here and yet I did not recieve a key. I have tried many competitions such as the facebook one and the general opt in itself with no luck. So I have entered this competition as an avid fan of TL and all it does for the community of SC and the soon to be SC2. I cannot wait to start playing SC2 and regain the sense of video game community that I have been longing for. Now that the game will be fresh you guys will be seeing alot of me on TL when I either recieve beta or when I buy the game in the store.

Sorry to write a novel, but it had to be said

Best of luck to all who entered!!

Thanks,

XXXSmOke
