Everyone deserves to play. In fact, it's the casual players that keep the game going. Sure, everyone loves the pros - but there are far more casual players than hardcore players. When the pros do well, it's the casual players that watch them, the casual players that drive the crowd. (Casual meaning those who play for fun or aren't hardcore A+/OLYMPIC OWN U ON ICCUP) etc. Everyone deserves to enjoy a great game ![]()

Yet, there are people who don't deserve the company they're with in the OP list. Even if they were 100% mistaken when they posted, I'd expect the staff to be the bigger person in this and not drive new members away. These are Starcraft fans after all. One mispost from a new member, whether it be out of desperation or something else, doesn't deserve this backlash. Which is why they were given the chance to back out. No one's ridiculing the people who took it upon themselves to remove themselves from the running.

You can decide to stay opted-in even after you realize your mistake. I thought we were over how you can have good intentions and stay opted in, just as you could have good intentions if you optout.

So why are we arguing over this?

Then you do so with full knowledge that people are going to group you together with the asshats. You can't say that anyone choosing to stay opted-in is oblivious to the fact that people are going to give them crap for it. In a sense, it's the price to pay for your shot at the beta keys.

So why don't you just stop the madness?

I wouldn't group them with asshats based on their decision, I would based on their intention if they reveal it in their post.

So why don't you just stop the madness? Not mad at you for wanting a beta key. I just think that it's silly to say that the TL staff were being negligent in some way in creating this contest (which is where I jumped into the argument). They knew full well the outcome was going to be like this. But at this point, we're arguing in circles.

But this game is meant to be enjoyed, as selfish as this may seem, I have many selfless reasons as well.

Granted you dont know the amount of keys, but its most likely 10-15 based on how many they received and gave to staff/giveaways/etc. Shouldnt be too hard to split the week somewhat evenly among peers, so that everyone gets to enjoy it rather than nobody, or just a select few. Granted its a trust issue given how easy it would be for someone to take over the account and change the PW but I'm just throwing it as a suggestion.

Excellent suggestion, but somebody can change the password indeed. But I'm not even sure it would work.

So why don't you just stop the madness? sure, everyone deserves a key from blizzard (*edit* because you are most likely a paying customer). but does everyone deserve a key from teamliquid? i mean, you only registered here yesterday.
