I often find myself typing up a post and deciding halfway through that it's not good enough to post (exceptions in LR thread when the Stars fanboy in me overtakes me). However, I did get a few nominations, so I wasn't forgotten. Three of them are people I know in real life though (two UCLA teammates, and my brother). I also got a random nomination from someone who posted right below me. Hehe, alright. It's still a good example of an old timer who may think he's been forgotten (even if he wasn't), and wanted to just step out there and get noticed. I'll keep on looking. I have a few examples already, but trying to find better.

If I'd been a member since 2003 or something I still wouldn't expect anyone to nominate me (nor would I nominate myself) because I've basically done nothing except have posts. Not bashing Blind or anything just saying. Fair enough, I'm just getting to the point that there's no shame in reminding people of your existence if your contribution/history has slipped everyone's mind. Some people, after nominating themselves, gained support from others. Example: jhNz with his team tshirt icons and his blog.

It shouldn't matter (too much) who nominated you, it's your contribution that should matter.

Nope just people wanting keys hell i was going to self nominate so i can give it to a friend and my reason was going to be a long nonsensical story that basically might as well be a lsd trip but then i thought eh someone else probably needs a key for more community purposes.

Well I know I don't post very much but i've been following this site for a while. One name on the self nominee list stands out to me, even though I don't know him personally at all. ADT.Fazinate has been a regular top ranking player in Red Alert 3 (usually top 20 on the ladder) who is know for his creativity, timing and generally solid mechanics in playing the Rising Sun faction. I'm of the sentiment that players like him made the allies unplayable in a standard game against empire. Well why does this mean he should get a beta key more than anyone else? well I just though that maybe with a key he can deepen the pool of available strategies and Build orders so that the game could be richer and more balanced when it comes out. wow this sounds like I am his posting mule lol, but I am definitely not

I'll say this, I agree that a very large percentage of self-nominees have had little to no contribution to TL, a larger percentage than peer-nominees. Yet, there are people who don't deserve the company they're with in the OP list. Even if they were 100% mistaken when they posted their self nomination, I'd expect the staff to be the bigger person in this and not drive new members away. These are Starcraft fans after all. One mispost from a new member, whether it be out of desperation or something else, doesn't deserve this backlash.
