you didn't feel any national pride whatsoever when the summer olympics were held in sydney? it doesn't make sense if you didn't. there's no problem with it.

I think you're confused with running the Olympics and being proud at being the "best" at something. Most Australians were proud at how we ran the Olympics, and particularly the Olympic volunteers (all 20,000 of them) who did such a fine job. But that's pride in our work, and something else entirely.

In any case, there's a difference between being proud and then being spiteful because someone else gets something you don't have. I'm not going to hate on another country just because they're better than us.

MBS and infinitely large groups makes APM much less important in sc2. Right now the game is all about having the right units and making the right decisions, which is both an advantage and a disadvantage, but it sure makes the korean apm machine-like players that just copy builds much weaker.

Yes, apm its less important as so many ottomated things on SC2, i think with an APM of 150 you can do fine.

Remember same thing happened to Wow beta, a few weeks before open beta hit EU and US, anyone with a korean Social security number could register and get into korean beta. You could find the korean social security numbers of random people at like highschool pages and shit though so people would find numbers to random people and register to get korean beta 8]

I went to a PC bang last night and played the beta. It felt...amazing. Maybe I was just lucky, but my opponents were all noobs. Plus, all the maps and destructible rocks at all the choke points so there was no chance at proxies, but my void ray rushes and fast (sometimes double) expos were wonderful! The only problem was that I had to use the PC bang's login ID so I can't save a profile and build it up. Oh well, I still got to play and it was fantastic.

Another weird thing was that the game speed was set to normal (maybe fast?), and not faster. Anyone else in Korea experience this?

It's because you were playing on the Novice versions of the maps, which have destructible rocks blocking all of the chokes and run the game at normal speed (this also explains why everyone you played was terrible--no one half decent would be playing on those maps). Next time you go, there should be a "Skip" button which will take you out of the practice league and into the real game.

Excellent, and I didn't take the time to understand everything as it was all in Korean. I just clicked what I needed to start playing as soon as possible. Next time I'll spend an extra minute to play some real players.

ehh, i'm not really sure why your post is supposed to be a contradiction to mine

also, you took my quote out of context. all i was saying is that national pride is ok. i don't really care for what reason. and by "pride" i mean in an endearing type way, the way a brother is happy for another brother.

and also again, why exclude the rest of my post in your quote? it was the part that you're now agreeing with. i dun get it.

You played practice matches. Idk about korean sc2 beta, but in the EU and US one you can skip that. Basically all the maps have the rocks on them and the game speed is set to normal. When you login and play multiplayer for the first time you are asked if you want to play practice matches or go straight to placement matches. Placement matches play at full speed and have no rocks outside bases.
