Good for the game as a whole, very good for Blizzard, very bad for kespa, and a straight punch in the face for competitive players in the foreign scene.

I wonder if this will have any noticeable effect on Korean's proleague attendance/general interest?

Very smart decision on Blizzard's part. PC Bangs are the cradle of e-Sports, since all games that became e-Sports started off by being the game of choice in PC Bangs, not to mention most (if not all) SC progamers started their careers by playing SC in PC Bangs. If SC2 succeeds in PC bangs, it will inevitably lead to a strong competitive scene in Korea.

I really wonder how KeSPA will react to this.

EDIT: Also, I kind of wish we had PC Bangs outside Korea. I think it would both help improve the image of gaming as well as make it a more social experience.

Yes, I am aware of e-Cafés, but those usually do not have such a strong emphasis on gaming. It does not help that they are few and far in-between. =(

I don't see how people are happy about this. We should be at SC war with korea for a dominant position. I don't want to see korea as *the* sc2 community just like it was *the* sc1 community. I want to see euro/us get some credit.

I think a lot of people were hoping the US would be the dominant power in sc2.. but here's the thing.. Korea is going to blow us out of the water in sc2 for the same reason public schools usually beat private in highschool football games.. a larger pool of talent to draw from. ....Blizzard is intentionally birthing an esports community in America... Using Korea as a sure fire place their game will explode can only help cause an esports revolution in the U.S... A few months for koreans to figure out how the game is "supposed" to be played.. can really only benefit us..
sc1: 3a.4a.5a.6a.7a. sc2 5a.6a.

US being the dominant power is a pipe dream. As long as US culture doesn't facilitate pro-gaming, it will never become #1 in e-sports. It would be awesome if we could at least make the US more open to it with SC2, but I can't imagine it becoming the next Korea for a long time unless SC2 suddenly becomes a phenomenon like WoW, and I can't see that happening simply because WoW got popular for being the first casual MMO, and SC2 is anything but casual.

I really like this. I wonder if Artosis can get some footage of the PC Bangs providing sc2 beta. I think it would be nice getting a glimpse of it.

Wow, xenophobia much?

There's nothing wrong with Korea having the most dominant scene, just as long as they allow foreigners the opportunity to compete in their leagues (if they're good enough, of course).

you didn't feel any national pride whatsoever when the summer olympics were held in sydney? it doesn't make sense if you didn't. there's no problem with it.

that said, it'd be "cool" if the usa was at the top of sc2. why? because i'm from the usa!

that also being said, people need to chill out. the beta in pc bangs in korea only help the international scene, which is what we all want, right? don't take this past the level it should go.
