Mini Tutorial: -- click on Demo to get a quick sample ---- demo is based on -- click on the build's name to get a build string ---- the build string is what's used as input in the Load menu -- click on refactor to tweak your build ---- while in refactor click on step number to remove it ---- while in refactor you can drag the items around ---- refactor will generate a new build -- click on minify to get a more simplistic view ---- be warned this only hides from you, its not another view -- click on "temp" to switch to "pined" ---- temp = gone after refresh of page, pined = auto-reload next time you visit ---- pined is done with cookies, so don't switch browsers -- stuff that gets a yellow background is a warning ---- if you get over XXX amount of minerals you get warning ---- if you get over XXX amount of gas you get warning ---- if you get over 125 amount of Energy you get warning ------ energy is calculated per command center ---- if you have more then 10s delay in your build you get warning ---- if you over supply you get warning ---- warnings are not necessarily errors -- click on Time to switch to "highlight simultaneous production" mode -- click on minify to get a simplified view of the build -- closing the build will not unpin it -- hover over your current food to get unit counts ---- units still under production not included -- hover over any item in the pallets to get a description if applicable -- click on "^" to dock pallet to top of screen -- click on "o" to minimize/maximize pallets -- use the Frames Select pallet to move between builds when you have more then 2 -- you will receive a warning if the operation requested is impossible -- loading a bad build will also generate a warning but will process the build up to the warning
is there a way to close the refractor without having to load it? I'm sure it wont be a big deal once i learn how to use it and not make mistakes (i was trying to xfer workers to gas and didnt see the option until after i had opened the refractor)
You can paste this string in the Load menu to load the build. In the case of this example it will have the same effect as pressing the Demo button.

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. -snip- Also I'm unable to copy the text from the alert when clicking "save" in chrome. Do you think you can do anything about that?
I'll switch to a more flexible interface alternative and replace the very browser dependent Alert/Prompt boxes. This should fix the issue with not being able to copy (though for the moment Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C should work temporary).
Do you have some more info for the error with the log? I'm assuming this is Chrome and after some specific steps?

Issues with previous version. -- if you set anything to pinned, select Clean Up since I changed the serialization from "|" to "| " which will cause errors. If you had any saved just replace (Ctrl+H) "|" with "| ". -- there is a chance you might be viewing the cached old scripts so if anything is not as expected hold Ctrl+F5 to force full reload.
Solved, -- as requested close option for Refactoring frame is now implemented (options are now "Apply"/"Cancel") -- window.alert is now replaced by $.prompt (jQuery plugin). Chrome users should now not have issues with build serialization
@ IcEBnd, I can not simulate your error there. You will have to tell me what steps you were doing to get the error.
To reproduce the Bad Request do the following (I did it in chrome): 1. Press demo 2. Press temp to pin the new build 3. Clone it 4. Goto 2 (about 3-4 times should be enough).
So the problem is probably that the cookie gets to big and the server you are using does not allow so big headers.
I can confirm that the "save" now works copying in chrome, thanks for the quick fix!
A feature request: Is it possible to change the refactor to have Apply / Create new / Cancel? So that it is possible to move around items without having to create a new build with a name? Or perhaps allow to move around the items without pressing refactor and just move the items directly.
Yes, I'm able to reproduce that now thanks. Might take me a little more time to fix. You're right in that the limit for the server I'm using to show it to you is extremely low. It normally should take around 9 builds of that size to break it; but my bad for forgetting about this regardless. Thanks a bunch, I'll look into more flexible alternatives, Web Storage [1][example] might work.
With regard to implementing Zerg and Protoss. Its actually nothing hard as far as Zerg goes, and I'm actually going to add Zerg next time I perfect the code (currently its prototype stage). The protoss however are a problem. Everything about them is fine except for the Chrono Boost. I am unaware of how exactly that works (it cuts time in half? it speeds up by % for XX amount of seconds?), and also the way to implement it seems tricky. Would it be okey if its implemented as: "you drag it to the build que and it Chrono Boosts the last item"?

I'm very open to feature requests, that was the point of this thread and hosting it on that site to begin with.
I'll implement Apply/Create/Cancel as soon as I can. Also, the reason refactor is used is because its the fastest. Moving around directly is possible but requires too many computations so it will cause (eventually) at least some form of delay/lag each time you drag something to some other place. There are other considerations such as if you could drag in place you could trash your entire build by just missdragging, or how you need to keep information like where it was previously in your head, then there's also the posibility the delete option might screw with you etc.

That sounds nice Using the apply should perhaps give you an error message instead of trashing your build, so that if you are missing a barracks it just say "Can't apply, you need barracks for that".
Also I find myself doing a lot of Next Steps to reach the correct time for example when building a factory after an barracks. Would it be possible that instead of getting the "you need a barracks for that" to automatically push the factory start-time forward until the barracks is completed, if you are "currently" building one? Example below: + Show Spoiler +
Also when doing refactoring/cloning I do not really see the use for naming the build every time, perhaps it could get a stock name and then ad the possibilit to rename builds? I find myself naming most of my builds "asd" since it is fast. =)
I also noticed that the latest patch (techlab = 25gas for example) is not in yet. I would be happy to provide assistance if you need it.

Yeah I'm fixing the "Next Step" nonsense in the next edition. No worries.
As for techlab still being 50 I don't know how that happened. I work a lot on a local copy so guess forgot to upload. Oups, my bad, thanks for the heads up. Should be okey now (refactoring fixes are in but the local storage support is not). This is still the original build calculator not the one I'm working with since I still need to tinker more to find a way to get that chrono boost to work right (its so annoying).
Guessing it only works for PC atm? Trying it on my mac laptop (on vacation), but I can load the website and a few people's builds from here, but doesn't show anything, just the columns of drag n drop stuff. I try dragging and dropping things, but nothin happens
