I can't tell you hot frustrating it is to go from one base to another without these hotkeys. Worker transfers take much longer and you're basically doomed to lose another 1-3 workers if you can't xfer using the location hotkeys. Stupid stupid mistake by Blizzard but hopefully they will implement it soon. Why would they not? It would not harm/complicate the enjoyment of the casual audience at all (they wouldn't even know if its existence or just choose to not use it), but the progamer community would rage.

In SC1, the best way to do it was to hit one of the F keys to go to the base being attacked, select your workers, hit the F key corresponding to the base you want to transfer to and right click the mineral patches. By using the standard hotkeys you will deselect your workers in the process. An alternative is to select your workers and then click the base on the minimap to transfer. Doing this will inevitably take longer and you'll lose another 1-3 workers. Also by not having them, it makes the game much clunkier. Pressing 1-1 takes a lot longer than pressing F2-F4...longer than you may think.

As far as I know they're not used for anything else, so why not just incorporate them as hotkeys? I can't tell you hot frustrating it is to go from one base to another without these hotkeys. You realize the reason you had to go through that is that you had to target a mineral patch for the workers to stack right? And that now you could just click the minimap. Obviously I want the F keys, since they're so helpful, but not really to save workers...

Yes I realize that but seeing how I've become so mechanical in the way I do it in SC1, I'd like the same option to exercise the same hotkey usage in SC2.

They might be saving f2-4 for hero selection in single player/ums like in WC3 i really enjoyed the f keys though, great for changing waypoints or moving workers if this is the explanation... then, thanks for the game but i fart in blizzard's general direction

Obviously I want the F keys, since they're so helpful, but not really to save workers... Why wouldn't you want to save your workers by transferring them to another mineral patch? If you can't clear out the attack then at least your workers are still mining at the spot where they have been transferred. And on top of that the F keys are useful in transferring workers even when you aren't being attacked, sending workers from your main to your natural just as it completes is far easier with the F keys.

Kinda annoying =( | ||

![]() Right now my APM is pretty low as I struggle to keep track of unit production, my scouts, my army, and macro economy, so I don't mind double tapping. Also my fingers hate reaching for the F-keys even though I have decent-sized hands. Even hitting F1 is a pain sometimes. I find that I do Ctrl-F1 with index finger on F1 and pinky on Ctrl, rather than using my middle finger. 1 = Army, 2 = Scout, Casters, 3 = Nexus, OC, Queens, 4 = Barracks, Hatchery, Gateway, 5 = Robo, Factory, Nydus Network, 6 = Starport, Stargate, Infestors. I can't realistically reach past 6 during a game.
