So what, Lurker's just aren't in the game anymore? Or does the tech tree only show what units are unlocked by building a structure?

Lurkers are not in sc2. I guess they figured that dodging spines with marines was unfair to lesser skilled players so they removed it as a whole.

wtf they take out 2 zerg units and give nothing in return (lurker and infested terrans). I sure hope lurkers are gonna be at least in retail!

Ahh thank you very much OP.

I'm hoping we can put together a little compendium of all the units, costs, build times, types, upgrades, etc if there isn't already one... and we can keep it up to date after patches.

yeah lets remove the most technical unit of zerg (save defilers maybe) so all we have left over is easy a-move Units!

Btw, I looked through the unit lists in all the other sc2 sites and they are horribly outdated. Just pointing it out in case some of you were planning on using those to form strategies.

More likely, they had a hard time deciding which tier to place them at, so they decided to take them out, see how balance plays out without them, and insert them appropriately to fill the gap.

One interesting thing I've noticed about Zerg is that the Infestor no longer has the ability to create infested Terrans. Now, whatever organic unit it targets with neural parasite will be infested and mind controlled for 10 seconds. Tried this on a Marine and Marauder, going to try it on Protoss next.

I am really glad they went back to old protoss tech tree. I didnt like how for awhile they had made protoss into 3 tiers with the stargate unlocking the third tier.

Maybe they're gonna replace lurkers in the game in a shiny new form in the expansions or something. That sounds like something blizzard would do. Just to make sure we buy them x]

I uploaded a quick vid of it all incliding units etc in game, it's not highly detailed as i can't go cheat and just mind control one of every race and build one of everything to show you the + armor and dmg from upgrades but i'll consider doing that later on


The video is still processing but it should churn out a HD vid sooner or later

That's what I thought. The only early anti-air Zerg has now, is the queen. Which can be neutralized easily by 2 phoenix.

Guess I have to start thinking up the counter to this and scout early

I do actually believe that they may have removed lurkers because we all know how hard it is for newbs to beat lurkers..

Just watch some low level ZvTs and see Terran get massacred by a-moving his M&Ms into 3 lurkers and losing the game...


I hope it's not final.How the fuck could they remove one of the most iconic zerg units just like that..

If it's not in the final version of Wings, they will probably try to put it in Fury...

I remember some interview where Blizzard talked about that exact problem, Iconic Zerg Units. Pretty much all their units are iconic...

You'll likely see lurkers make an appearance in the single player campaign, the way they've been hinting that there will be lots of single player exclusive units.

One of the most recent blizzard tweets mentioned that lurkers and archons were being underutilised and that they are working to solve the problem. My guess is the simply disabled the lurker till they are happy with the changes they are making to it before allowing people to get use to the way it works.

Could be. Although I think I saw an archon in a game yesterday.

I guess they just want to be able to add and change units without people abusing them. Perhaps Lurkers were doing damage too quickly?

I am not updated since Novembers Dreamhack version of the game, but from that I can tell you that Spawn Larvae from queen gave enough to be more worth to either econ drones or offensive lings than a second hatchery early game. You will still have good minerals with the queen. Not sure about the air info though (the phoenix did so little damage I thought it was useless), can't remember zerg using lurker there either. About the hydra thing, it does sound like it makes protoss/terran air a lot more viable than it should be.

I really wish they didn't remove d8 charges.. reapers just lost a lot of usefulness right there..

A queen costs just 100 minerals and is better at shooting air than old hydras, have twice the health and can heal each other. If you want to defend against air why don't you build more than one queen? It is not like it takes larvae either.
