anyone know the final song that is being played right now? I'm super interested, and also I did not experience any lag in tonight's cast, but sounds like a lot of others had.

I realize everyone knows about the ustream lag issues by now but I thought i'd compile a bit of the problems on my end and figured that this would be a fine place to do it.
Basically, all week the stream has been cutting out, the sound remains relatively fine (sometimes lag pauses) but the video plays like 0.1fps.
I believe the lag issue is on the ustream servers, not all of them, just select ones because only some people are getting the lag. I have no idea how their servers work but I suspect the problem might be regional (just a theory).
I've tried both chrome and firefox browser-wise, both with the newest version of flash.
Hope this little report can help get the problem fixed, if you need any more info just ask, hope to see the stream back up and running full force soon. =D

I am also curious whether the lag is regional or not. I'm from Dallas, using TW Cable. Anyone else from the Big D able to stream it just fine?

Some of the early lag may have been from paniced users thinking "pausing" was "crashing."

But it did actually go down a few times, to the chagrin of thousands.

I've been experiencing lag problems on ustream almost every time I've tried to tune in. As Day9's gotten more popular (consistently more than 2k viewers), I think services like Ustream just don't have the server bandwidth. It's just going to get worse as the viewer count seems to be growing exponentially. They desperately need an option to allow viewers to stream in lower video quality. Day, is there any way you can reduce the video quality on your end to reduce the load on Ustream's servers?

Just for information, I was watching tonight's stream with perfect audio and video. Then Day[9] suddenly stopped and started the stream. After that, it was a total video clip show though the audio was fine. Every so often the video would speed up really really fast, and then the whole thing would freeze til a reset.

It was fine for the vast majority of people up until the restart, at which point all hell broke loose where then the majority were having problems.

I guess it must be a bit of a load having to relay the stream to however many people all at once when you restart, given it was so late into the cast it's safe to assume you were at max viewer count.

When I first moved to UStream, I had about 4k a night. Lag is killing me -_-

i had no problem the first 10 mins of the cast. i think people just flipped out when you paused. i left for dinner after that though so can't provide any further insight =/

Day9. I <3 your daycast. However, it is unwatchable due to your stream host.You usually have like 3k viewers and it was much lower today because there is SOOOOOOOOO MUCHHHHHHH LAGGGGGGG UHHHHHHH!

the lag all started when you started to record to 720p. i don't know if this is an internal issue (i.e., your sending what ever data to uStream, that is not high def, and it is getting saving as high def). I certainly didn't notice a difference between quality on the stream (minus it being as high as usual). Although it does seem to be on a uStream end.

To get no lag for me, i watch you embedded on TL, or in pop-out mode.

It seems that either chat or something with how the servers distribute the data is causing the lag issues. Also, i think one of the reasons why your viewer base is declining, might be because the beta stopped. And only the most hardcore of day9 fans and starcraft players still wanted to spend the time at the end of the day to watch you. I always catch your casts, so i dunno. I doubt it is the lag though.

You could observe some sort of trend as well if your looked at your metrics for your blip. I dont think they display these publicly like youtube, so you would have to verify how many people actually watch your vod's instead of the stream. I think this would be a better clue as to losing people to lag. But also, you have to consider time-span as well. If the numbers are the same, but more people watch them within a day, that means you are losing viewers on your stream. I would say that 2k is about average though for a non beta.

And hey, thats still a bunch of people that watch you. :D

By the way how long till its actually up and running on blip nowadays? Haven't had the chance to
watch the past few dailies live so I've just waited till I woke up next day. Altho if it were to come up 2-3 hours after it was up I could just stay for it.
