Hey guys,
So, I discovered the trick where you buy all of one category of upgrades at the same time, unlock the achievement, then load your game.
Problem is, I discovered it a little late. By the time I did, I can buy out all of the upgrades from each category EXCEPT the starship upgrades. I have about 900K, and you need just a touch over a million. I have no way to get enough money to get the remaining Starship upgrades.
My question is:
Can I buy all of the Starship upgrades, except the first 3 (two medivac upgrades and whatever comes after), beat the campaign, then start a NEW campaign, then BUY those first three upgrades that I didn't get in the first playthrough to unlock this achievement?
Because if I can't, I'll basically have to play through the campaign almost all the way through before I can afford to re-buy all of the Starship upgrades just for one lousy achievement!
ARRGH!
TIA!

The easiest way to do this is probably use the research bug: assuming you have all protoss and zerg research already, replay (edit: from the mission archives) an easy mission for which you get lots of research points, such as zeratul's first mission or the secret mission. For some reason you can sell that research in the lab for credits. By doing this once or twice you will have enough money. I wouldn't feel bad for cheating because the normal way to get this achievement is already so lame.

I tried that bug out with several missions. Doesn't seem to work for me and I have maxed out both research trees

The answer is "yes" then - sorry (Or you could get someone elses save............)

Play on Casual, it's hilarious.

I find it very strange that the bug should not work for you, I thought it happened for everyone. I suppose Blizzard's ways are sometimes unfathomable or perhaps they fixed it for 1.2. The only thing I can suggest is to just let the achievement rest until you feel like doing the campaign again - perhaps on brutal, or with some interesting constraints? For example, you could do the whole campaign using air units only Would line up nicely with getting your achievement.

I believe Blizz fixed the bug a while ago.
If you didn't get your merc/armory achievements before the bug, you gotta do an extra play-through and get them the legit way.

Man, I wish I had thought to do this myself. I just played through the campaign 4 times like a chump.

so my questions stands with this part:

I think you have to get all 10/10 at the same time, im not 100% sure on that though.

If you do not want to play through the whole game again, I will link you to a replay pack you can download and load with SC2. There will be a replay in the pack called something along the lines of "moneyzzzzz" or w/e. This file has over 2 million credits on it for you to use. You do not need to save the file when you are done using it. You may reopen it several times to complete all of the upgrade achievements.
Link to thread is here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=188218
Link to download the pack is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?zgxozzikgzm48oz
Credit goes to the guy who compiled it, not me.
Also, in the thread someone explains where you need to move the files so you can load them while you are playing sc2.

Credit goes to me, who originally posted the save and was not given credit.
CREDIT ACHIEVEMENTS (Master Mechanic): http://www.mediafire.com/?x9tbq71jiyuijf5 Load, buy, achieve, reload, buy, achieve, repeat Base Tech Master, Vehicle Tech Master, Dominion Tech Master, Infantry Tech Master, Starship Tech Master

As long as you have a save game with enough credits to get all the upgrades in any category, you can get all the upgrades in one category, gaining you that achievement. Then, load your game. You don't lose the achievement. Repeat for the other categories. Well, I did this a while ago, so Blizzard might have patched it.

I have now played the campaign 3 (started on hard, brutal sounded well brutal) times and still for some reason every time I get the upgrades it stops counting at a certain point i have sat through 2 campaign runs with 7/10 for starship tech and if i buy anything after that point it just doesn't count?

TIA! You can play again for the It's-raid-time achievement and save up some money. Then do the save-buy-load trick.

Yeah! I'm having the same problem, where no matter how many times I play the campaign, every time I go into and buy any of the upgrades for Starships, Infantry, Vehicles, etc, it never goes past "whatever" number is already there; i.e. 7/10 for Starship upgrades, 6/10 for Vehicle upgrades, etc. I've gone on several occasions and bought every single upgrade in each of the sections, and it doesn't ever seem to register them?! * oes anyone know why?**...or more importantly, does anyone know un-equivocally that the first time they played through the single player campaign, they didn't get all of the upgrades in any of the sections, but played the campaign missions over again (2, 3 or even more times), bought the remaing upgrades that they remembered they didn't get last time and DID get the number to go up to the maximum, thus aquiring the achievment???!
