its not like is a mission where it could really come in handly, like the two you have to liftoff. on the dig you can just throw up a cc right away at the natural, plenty of income there.

Yeah, it's probably a certain number of missions, although it could be a specific mission completion... Not sure about this either. Anywa, regarding the dig mission, I was too lazy to get the achievement on brutal, so I just replayed it on hard and, wheeeeee yipeeeee-ki-yayyy

I got it on moebius mission my second play through, and I know I had it by the dig earlier so I'm pretty sure it's a specific amount of missions you have to play through to access the upgrade in the armory.

Nah, I had orbital for the dig once because I remember scanning a lot. I still think it's a certain number of missions... maybe 13,14, or 15 completed before you get access to it. You would pretty much have to finish up the Tosh, Horner, and Hanson mission lines to get Orbital before the Dig though..

I was thinking, maybe you don't need orbital command. Unlike multiplayer, the general strategy I use is mass up and defend until I'm mined out, then attack. In that sense, you don't need to mine faster at all.

Use laser to target protoss buildings... they will keep rebuilding them so you can just rack up free building kills. Of course you need vikings so that means you had to do safe haven/haven's fall... but that's far faster than doing all of the missions to get to orbital command before the dig.

1) Orbital CC 2) Something else It wasn't just rewarded instantly, you had to choose. I chose OC because a mule as soon as a mission with like 4-6 scvs helps a lot/

You can just stomp them that way, a very easy strategy... If you really want to go out of your way to get an OC; go ahead, but it's really not necessary. Are you talking about The Dig or Engine of Destruction? Turned out The Dig was easier than I remembered on Brutal, as long as you take out colossus and immortals with the laser everything else drops like candy to tanks. EoD is really hard though, I can make it to the 3rd base, but I always get stomped in the 3rd base. I don't even have enough time to get more than like 5 wraiths by the time he goes into the second base . I try to sneak in and snipe the raven so that I can kill the Battlecruiser and the siege tanks before Odin gets there, but it never works. I always lose like 3 or 4 wraiths to marines on the ground. I've been doing other missions now to build up research and armory upgrades, and now I have the building that tech that gets you gas 25% faster, and with Orbital Command I can get a nice economy boost up front. And hopefully with tanks I can just siege a few in front of the second / third base and fly in with wraiths to take out the upper level defenses. I guess I'll do a few Prophecy missions to for Protoss research points so that I can get the automatic gas refinery. idk why I can't do it, everyone says they do it by making nothing but wraiths, 0 other units besides wraiths, but it doesn't work at all when I do that. Odin gets decimated in about 5 seconds in the second base, and if I try to bring SCVs to repair him, the enemies selectively snipe off the SCVs and my economy is in shambles because I lost so many SCVs.

Of course there's an alternative, as there is with all armory upgrades each item has 2 upgrades, but it's not a research upgrade where you have to choose 1 or the other. You might be thinking of PF, which *is* a research upgrade, and is an alternative to the Perdition Turret.

Yea, Engine of Destruction is friggin annoying on Brutal because the Odin seems to die hella fast and scvs get sniped. I beat it by building almost nothing but vikings to take out air and random tanks /w vessels for healing. If you take out the air with vikings (for whatever reason, wraiths didn't cut it for me either), it's not too bad. Also, getting the tank and marauder mercs is useful as well.

Getting a little sidetracked, but: Keeping all the wraiths you start with (and making a few extra from 1 port) should give you a small but acceptable number (6-8 or so) by base three, while having some SVs as well (preferably). Make a ground army comprised of marauder/medic - the extra hp compared to more common marine/medic is for taking tank hits. Before the Odin gears up to go in, focus on sniping tanks in the base with wraiths because they're the biggest source of damage - ravens take awhile to kill and force you into the detection radius, so avoid them when possible. At the point Odin actually goes in, send your marauder/medic in first - let them soak up the bulk of the offense while the Odin opens fire. Use the wraiths during the breach to pick off key targets (tanks, or BCs in the later bases). Your focus should be to keep damage off the Odin by letting the infantry take a share, and quickly knocking out the heaviest damage dealers using a squad of wraiths (this also helps a lot for the 30% health achievement on brutal). This is key in the later bases where the sheer firepower can knock out the Odin rapidly if it takes the full force of the AI. When I did EoD I had tech reactors, autorefineries, and SVs, which were key for pumping marauder/medic and wraith/sv. Those were essentially the only units I made (besides a few varied other things for defense in between the Odin's attacks).
