Horace Warfield is pronounced exactly the same as "Horus", the Egyptian Falcon God. Horus served many functions in the Egyptian pantheon, most notably being the god of the Sky, god of War and god of Protection. Also the Terran Insignia resembles a falcon. Even a bit further removed (I'm not sure if Blizz reads Wilbur Smith novels!) but the "Warlock" (Warfield??) series of books has the main character Taita using a hawk with a broken wing as his sigil/seal. Warfield loses a limb in the final missions, might be a reference even if its very obscure. | ||
