A question about weight loss, in the short term, is it better for me to take longer with my runs or run faster, covering the same distance in a shorter time?
Depends on time-constraints... I dunno which is better from an exercise standpoint, just practical

tbh the better idea is to mix it up, sometimes fast, sometimes slower you don't want your body to become accustomed to whatever exercise you do for me Age: 24 height: 5'4" weight: 165 Target weight: 150 starting date: today ending date: next year

Hehe, well I have a lot of free time atm, all my time is dedicated to starting up a business and atm things can be worked on at any time of the day, so I set aside an hour for this run and the cooldown, but it could be stretched to 1.5 hours if necessary.
In short, I'm looking for an exercise standpoint.
edit: Ahh KOFgokuon posted while I typed.
Ok cool, I think I might change things up on a few of the days then.

Age: 24 height: 6'2" weight: 85kg Target weight: 80-81kg starting date: Today ending date: End of Feb
about 15 months ago I weighed 109kg, so I've already come down a shit tonne (~24kg, ~55pounds). Now I just want to lose that tiny little bit extra that is hanging around a few places.
My routine was basically an hour on the exercise bike every day, averaged about 44 kilometres every session using the 8 second sprint, 12 second mid tempo style (which is supposed to trick your brain and assist weight loss further). Stopped this about 3 months ago and maintained weight by eating intelligently. Now I want to get back into it to drop these last 4-5kg.

What are you doing to train for this? I did this like a year and a half ago, but want to do it again now that I'm like 20 lbs heavier. I just pyramided 1 arm cable lat pulldowns (with a low row triangle) and then assisted one arm pullups (with my other arm pulling on my wrist as much as needed). I read that doing super-slow one arm dumbbell shoulder presses and negatives are supposed to help, but I never tried it. It'd be a fun thing to try for again, since you feel like a total beast when you can do it.
If you can't do one it's a good CNS test too. You can gage your CNS by how close you can come to getting one.

At my peak weight I was 161lbs, after 1 month of going to the gym last year (was about 152lbs when i started going). Stopped going to the gym over a year ago and I'm down to 154lbs with probably a reasonably high body fat % as I'm kinda squidgie and chubby. Wanna get rid of the chubbiness and get toned with more muscle mass
Age: 24 Height: 5' 10" Weight: 154lbs Target weight: 160+lbs (with lower body fat than now, so I wanna both put muscle on AND lose fat) Starting Date: Feb Ending Date: However long it takes.

I train on:
Actually in that picture the guy is hanging from the hardest hold on the board, I can't even deadhang from that it is ridiculously tough. But I do many excersizes. Some of the exercises I do that are more specific to 1 arm pulls are:
1 arm deadhangs 1 arm negatives (pullup, then let go with 1 arm, and try to control yourself as you come back down) 1 arm assisted pullups (I grab an easy hold up at the top with 1 hand, and then a very hard hold such as one of the hard slopers or bottom rails with my other hand - then do pullups)

I'm a little underweight at the moment, need to start going to the gym to put on some bulk and am also going to have a plan on what to eat. I like the idea of having soup for lunch, that vegetable soup is so fucking nice. Before/After photo to come soon
3-4 Gym sessions a week 2 Tae Kwon Do sessions a week (just starting on the 13th, hopefully i can kick people face) And i will work on my flexability

Great initiative
I'll be cheering for everyone (take this from a guy that lost like 30 lbs in like 3 months just going to the gym and sweating his ass off in a static byke)
The part about something that motivates you is really important, think about someone you want to show off, so they can go: "holy crap, you look amazing!" (i know)
Good luck everyone and don't let the weather interfere, rain or shine go and exercise. It's hard the few first days but after is a breeze in the park.

Starting today again, I'm going back to my original diet. Seriously, fuck yesterday. ARGH

Well I guess I'm really out of shape, because after exercising the last 2 days, my legs are sore as hell. I really really don't want to walk anywhere so I'm going to try to just rest today. I'm sticking to my diet though...well technically not really a diet, just trying to eat less and incorporate more fruits/veggies/and whole grains into what I eat.
|
I've been a vegetarian for 8 years now, so whole grains, fruits, and veggies are very easily incorporated into my diet as is
I burned about 300 calories today playing DDR.
Saturday I burned ~230 Sunday I burned ~250 Monday I concentrated more on push ups, weight lifting, and crunches Today I burned ~300
I'm also getting much better at DDR by doing this I'm finally getting A's on some songs on Difficult.

oh god, those things are crazy. At my school rock climbing wall there are some people who can do that type of stuff and it completely blows my mind >_<

Worked out like 4 times since this thread...my t-shirts are already getting tighter on me :D While it makes me feel better, its annoying that they are less comfortable and probably make me look like a douchebag trying to show off my muscles

don't worry about it, chicks tend to like douchebags
